Positive Psychological Capital and Turnover Intention: The Mediating Effect of Perceived Work Overload and the Moderating Effect of Trust in Supervisor (긍정심리자본이 이직의도에 미치는 영향: 인지된 직무과부하의 매개효과와 상사신뢰의 조절효과)

  • This study analyzed the effect of an employee's psychological capacity(positive psychological capital), on perceived work overload, and explored how trust in supervisor moderated this relationship. In addition, we examined how positive psychological capital and perceived work overload influenced turnover intention. In doing so, we identified the antecedents of perceived work overload, and suggested ways to nurture positive psychological capital in organizations. Using survey data from 214 employees in the manufacturing industry in Korea, we found that positive psychological capital was negatively related to perceived work overload, and that the relationship was moderated by trust in supervisors. In addition, positive psychological capital was negatively associated while perceived work overload was positively associated with turnover intention. Results suggest the importance of understanding positive psychological capital given its crucial relationship with perceived work overload and turnover intention. The result also emphasizes the role that trust in supervisor plays, and the need to nurture employees' positive psychological capital in organizations.

The Effects of Self-leadership, Professional Self-concept, and Positive Psychological Capital of Operating Room Nurses on Nursing Performance (수술실 간호사의 셀프리더십, 전문직 자아개념, 긍정심리자본이 간호업무성과에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to determine the effects of self-leadership, professional self-concept, and positive psychological capital on the performance of operating room nurses. Methods: The participants were 148 operating room nurses with more than a year of experience in one of the general hospitals in Seoul, Korea. Data were collected from 18 to 29 November 2019 and were analyzed by descriptive statistic methods, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient analysis, and multiple regression analysis using the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Results: The self-leadership, professional self-concept, and positive psychological capital of operating room nurses showed a positive correlation with nursing performance. The performance of operating room nurses was the most affected by professional self-concept (β=.32, p=.002), followed by operating room career (β=.22, p=.037) and positive psychological capital (β=.20, p=.039), which together accounted for a nursing performance of up to 42.9% (F=12.06, p<.001). Conclusion: Based on these findings, it is necessary to develop education and intervention programs to enhance the operating room nurses' professional self-concept and positive psychological capital.

Relationship between Basic Pychological Needs and Psychological Burnout of Nurse: Mediation Effect of Positive Psychological Capital and Moderated Mediation Effect of Authentic Leadership (간호사의 기본심리욕구와 심리적 소진 간의 관계: 긍정심리자본의 매개효과와 진성리더십의 조절된 매개효과)

  • This study aimed to investigate the relationships between basic pychological needs, positive psychological capital, authentic leadership and psychological burnout of clinical nurses, and to identify the mediation effect of positive psychological capital and moderated mediation effect of authentic leadership. The participants were 182 clinical nurses at 5 general hospital located in M city from April 2020 to June 2020 by questionnaire survey. Data analysis was done by using SPSS WIN 23.0 program and SPSS PROCESS MACRO program(model 4 and model 7). This study shows that the basic psychological need had an negative effect on psychological burnout, and the mediating effect of positive psychological capital and the moderated mediating effect of authentic leadership were confirmed in the relationship between basic psychological need and psychological burnout. Therefore, in order to reduce psychological burnout of general ward nurses, it is necessary to develop strategy to improve basic psychological needs and positive psychological capital of nurses, and leadership program for authentic leadership of nurse managers.

The Effect of Ethical Management and Positive Psychological Capital on Organizational Effectiveness in Hospitals (의료조직의 윤리경영과 긍정심리자본이 조직유효성에 미치는 영향)

  • Background: In this study, state-owned medical institutes, industrial accident hospitals, veteran hospitals, and private medical clinics including 16 university medical institutes in the Seoul metropolitan area were selected to examine the causality of ethical management, positive psychological capital, and organizational effectiveness. Methods: The study analyzed 1,056 valid questionnaires to which a total of 1,325 nurses, medical technicians, doctors, and administrative staff in 34 healthcare organizations answered over two months from June to August 2015. The study also utilized a 'structural equation model,' and a 'hierarchical linear model' to conduct the analysis. Results: It was first found that ethical leadership, ethical management systems, and organizational ethics values, which are the three factors of ethical management, had significant influence on organizational commitment, and behavior. These are the three factors of employee organizational effectiveness. Second, ethical management, ethical leadership, ethical management systems, and organizational ethics values had significant influence on positive psychological capital. Third, positive psychological capital had significant influence on organizational commitment, turnover intention, and organizational citizenship behavior. Positive psychological capital presented an indirect effect on the relationship between the ethical management and organizational effectiveness of employees. The effect of positive psychological capital consisting of self-efficacy, hope, resilience, and optimism was confirmed in the healthcare organizations. Fourth, in relations among ethical management variables, ethical leadership showed a significant impact on ethical management systems, which had significant impacts on organizational ethics values, which had significant impacts on ethical leadership.

The Convergence Effects of Commitment of Organization and Positive Psychological Capital in Nurse on Burnout (간호사의 조직몰입도와 긍정심리자본이 직무소진에 미치는 융복합적 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship among Organizational Commitment, Positive Psychological Capital and Burnout. Second one is to promote job satisfaction by identifying the effect of the relationship on Burnout. We conducted a survey of 107 nurses in the hospital. According to the relationship among Organizational Commitment, Positive Psychological Capital and Burnout. This study showed that equated resilience from of Organizational Commitment and dynamic stability from of Positive Psychological Capital are important factors to Burnout. Nurses with high Organizational Commitment and Positive Psychological Capital can provide improved medical service due to reduction of Burnout. Therefore, more effective base line data for nursing management is required through development and application of high Organizational Commitment and Positive Psychological Capital.

  • This study was conducted to provide basic data to promote hair beauty service education by identifying the difference in the effect of positive psychological capital on job performance and job satisfaction of hair salon workers. For this purpose, in order to empirically verify the effect of positive psychological capital on job performance and job satisfaction of hair salon workers, 280 people engaged in hair salon workers in Gwangju, Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do were targeted. As a result of the study, positive psychological capital of hair and hair salon workers affects job performance and job satisfaction, and among the sub-factors of positive psychological capital, hope and optimism appear to affect both job performance and job satisfaction. Therefore, in order to strengthen the positive psychological capital of hair salon workers, it is necessary to develop a convergence program development and strategy that can enhance job performance and job satisfaction and apply it to the hair beauty service field.

The Influence of Fire officials's Job stress on Wellness : A Mediating Effect of Positive Psychological Capital (소방공무원의 직무스트레스가 웰니스에 미치는 영향 : 긍정심리자본의 매개효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine to identify factors affecting wellness of fire officials. This study collected questionnaire data from 219 fire officials working in Gyeongsangnam-do. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation, Sobel test and multiple regression analysis with IBM SPSS statistics 24.0 program. Wellness of fire officials was correlated with job stress(r=.-49, p<.001) and positive psychological capital(r=.70, p<.001). In addition, job stress showed a significant negative correlation with positive psychological capital (r=-.56, p<.001). As a result of analyzing the mediating effect of positive psychological capital on the relationship between job stress and wellness of fire officials, positive psychological capital showed a significant mediating effect. Based on the finding, it is necessary to develop an intervention program that strengthens positive psychological capital in order to improve the wellness of fire officials and reduce job stress.

  • Due to its nature, business foundation accompanies high levels of risk taking and responsibility. For this reason, entrepreneurs come to experience various negative emotions in the process of business foundation such as anxiety about risks, fear of failure, and pressure of success. However, entrepreneurs' negative emotions reduce individual inclinations for business foundation. Thus, it is necessary to research individual psychological characteristics that could reduce and attenuate entrepreneurs' negative emotions. To this end, this study examined the effects of Self-forgiveness, and Narcissism, psychological motivation variables, and Positive psychological capital and Career ambition, goal motivation variables, on entrepreneurial intentions. In order to verify research hypotheses, 326 questionnaires collected from prep-entrepreneurs were used for the empirical analysis. Looking at the analysis results, Self-forgiveness, Narcissism, Positive psychological capital and Career ambition had significant effects on entrepreneurial intentions. This study has a meaning in that it confirmed the influential relationship between the psychological characteristics reducing entrepreneurs' negative emotions and entrepreneurial intentions. In addition, this study suggested its implications, limitations, and future research directions based on the study results.

The effects of self-assertiveness and appearance satisfaction on psychological well-being (자기주장성과 외모만족이 심리적 안녕감에 미치는 영향)

  • This study aimed to investigates the effects of self-assertiveness and appearance satisfaction on psychological well-being (personal growth, purpose in life, self acceptance, environmental mastery, autonomy and interpersonal relations), and find out if there exists any causal relationship among each variable in the process. For data collection, a questionnaire was administrated from April 23 to May 13, 2012 in the city of Gwangju, Korea. The subjects were women in their twenties and thirties. 359 women responded to it. The results were as follows. First, overall self assertiveness had positive effects on appearance satisfaction which, in turn, turned out to have overall positive effects. Second, the overall effects of self assertiveness on psychological well-being turned out to have positive effects. Third, overall appearance satisfaction had positive effects on psychological well being. Forth, the effects that self assertiveness had on psychological well-being mediated appearance satisfaction and appeared to be partly insignificant. The implications and the direction of this research should be discussed in the future study so that it can improve personal psychological well-being by finding out other variables aside from self assertiveness, appearance satisfaction.

  • Purpose: Personality qualities are essential to the prosperity of any contemporary company because they foster the growth of pleasant emotions in telecommunications distribution employees. Research design, data and methodology: Thus improving their overall psychological well-being and productivity. Talent retention is facilitated by mutual respect between management and staff. The success of the company as a whole, including the development and maintenance of emotions with customers, also depends on the psychological well-being of employees. The aim is to demonstrate how a positive and satisfied emotional workforce contributes to psychological well-being in the 21st century. Result: The research aims to better understand the personality traits that influence the psychological well-being of employees. In addition, between January and March 2023, a total of 179 employees in the telecommunications distribution industry in the Peruvian city of Chiclayo were surveyed using structural modelling methods to measure employee satisfaction. It also shows how various ideas, approaches and models can be used in the real world. Conclusion: The significance of the model on the perception of telecommunications workers in Peru is demonstrated by the results, which indicate an R2 value of 0.681 for positive emotions and an R2 value of 0.792 for employees' psychological well-being.
