Preventive Behavior and Health Belief about Hepatitis A of Adults in their Twenties to Thirties (20~30대 성인의 A형 간염 건강신념과 예방행위)

  • Purpose: This study was designed to identify the relationship between preventive behavior and health belief about Hepatitis A among young adults. Methods: The sample consisted of 197 participants between the ages of twenty and forty. The data were collected from May 3 to May 30 2011 and analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ${\chi}^2$-test, and Pearson correlation coefficients. Preventive Behavior's Scale about Hepatitis A and Health Belief's Scale about Hepatitis A were used for data collection. Results: The mean scores of health behavior ($2.97{\pm}0.34$) and preventive behavior ($2.46{\pm}0.30$) about Hepatitis A were about average degree. The participant's characteristics with preventive behavior were significantly different according to type of residence (${\chi}^2$=4.74, p =.040), experience of obtained knowledge about Hepatitis A (${\chi}^2$=5.68 p =.018) and attitude about Hepatitis A (${\chi}^2$=15.20, p<.001). Significant correlations were found between health behavior and preventive behavior with Hepatitis A (r=.20, p =.005). The preventive behavior had a significant positive correlation with susceptibility (r=.22, p =.001), severity (r=.17, p =.015), and benefit (r=.32, p<.001) towards Hepatitis A as the details of the health belief. Conclusion: These findings indicate that health belief may be necessary to improve compliance with preventive behavior on Hepatitis A among young adults. It is necessary to develop the strategy of reinforcing health belief in complying with preventive behavior for preventing the occurrence of Hepatitis A.

Lung Cancer in Women: A Single Institution Experience with 50 Patients

  • Background: Lung cancer is the most common cause of cancer-related death worldwide. The incidence of lung cancer is aproximately 7-8 thousand percent in Turkish women. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the clinical, pathological properties and survival data of female patients with lung cancer who were treated in our center. Materials and Methods: From 2007 to 2012, 50 women with lung cancer were enrolled. Patient data were evaluated retrospectively. Results: The median age was 61 (40-81). Forty patients (80%) were diagnosed with non small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), 10 patients (20%) were small cell carcinoma (SCC). Twelve (24%) patients were smokers and 13 of 16 non-smokers had a history of exposure to asbestos. The most common histologic subtype was adenocarcinoma (46%) and this accounted for 71% in patients with exposure to asbestos. The most common initial Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) performance score was 1 (24 patients, 48%) and initial stage was IV (25 patients, 50%) in the study group. During the median 15 months (1-96 months) followup period: 1 year overall survival (OS) was 68%, 2year overall survival was 36% and the median survival time was 19 months. According to univariate analysis, poor ECOG performance status, advanced stage, anemia and weight loss at time of diagnosis were negative prognostic factors. However, adenocarcinoma sub-type was a positive prognostic factor. Conclusions: In this study NSCLC sub-type, poor ECOG performance score, advanced stage, anemia and weight loss were prognostic factors in Turkish women with lung cancer.

Agreement between Colposcopic Diagnosis and Cervical Pathology: Siriraj Hospital Experience

  • Aim: To evaluate the agreement between colposcopic diagnosis and cervical pathology a retrospective chart review was performed. Materials and Methods: This study included 437 patients who underwent colposcopy and cervical biopsy or conization at Siriraj Hospital from October 2010 - December 2012. The patient clinical characteristics, cervical cytology results, colposcopic diagnoses, cervical pathology results were recorded and correlations between variables were analyzed. Results: Agreement of colposcopic diagnosis and cervical pathology was matched in 253 patients (57.9%). The strength of agreement with weighted Kappa statistic was 0.494 (p<0.001). Colposcopic diagnoses more often overestimated (31.1%) than underestimated (11%) the cervical pathology. Agreement of colposcopic diagnosis and cervical pathology within 1 grade was found in 411 patients (94.1%). Positive predictive value (PPV) of high grade colposcopy or more was 75.5%, whereas the negative predictive value (NPV) of insignificant and low grade colposcopy was 83.8%. False positives of high grade colposcopy or more were 21%. False negatives of insignificant or low grade colposcopy were 19.1%. Conclusions: Strength of agreement between colposcopic diagnosis and cervical pathology was found to be only moderate. A biopsy at colposcopy should be performed at a gold standard level to detect high grade lesions.

Attitudes toward Caring for the Elderly and Geriatric Nursing Practice of Nurses in a General Hospital (일 병원 간호사의 노인돌봄태도와 노인간호실천)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship among attitude toward caring for the elderly and geriatric nursing practice and the influencing factors on geriatric nursing practice of nurses in a general hospital. Data were collected from October 1 to October 30, 2017 by questionnaires from 228 nurses who work at a general hospital in B city. The data were analyzed by IBM SPSS statistics 20.0 program using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test, Pearson's correlation coefficient and Stepwise Multiple Regression. The average score of attitude toward caring the elderly was 3.39 and geriatric nursing practice was 3.21. Significant correlation were found among attitude toward caring the elderly and geriatric nursing practice. According to the research, the significant factors influencing geriatric nursing practice were attitude toward caring the elderly, total clinical careers, elderly education experience influences the attitude toward the elderly, the present working department, have a friendly elderly person, and these factors explained 30.4%. Based on these findings, it is necessary to develop and apply a program to improve positive attitude of care for the elderly to hospital nurses and a program to promote the geriatric nursing practice.

Emotional experiences of baseball fans at winning and losing games: An fMRI approach (경기 승패에 따른 야구팬들의 정서경험: fMRI연구)

  • This study is to examine if emotional valance depending upon the result of baseball game(losing or winning) of subjects' favorite team yields hemispheric asymmetry measured by fMRI. Subjects were twelve fans of the Samsung Lions baseball team. The brain activations have been observed while they watched winning and losing scenes of their favorite team. As a results of the experiment, those who watched winning scenes showed the activation of the left and right cuneus, right inferior occipital gyrus, right inferior frontal gyrus, left amygdala, right parahippocampal gyrus, left uncus, left cingulate gyrus, left inferior temporal gyrus, right middle temporal gyrus, left declive, left culmen. On the contrary, those who watched losing scenes showed the activation in the right middle frontal gyrus, left anterior cingulate, left sub-gyral, left lentifomrm nucleus, left thalamus, left claustrum, left insula. The evidence of hemispheric asymmetry from this study has not been demonstrated and activation in amygdala observed during watching winning scene has not been observed in losing scene. Therefore more in-dept research is required about defeat stimuli induction.

Drinking behaviors by stress level in Korean university students

  • The purposes of this study are to estimate the stress level of university students, and to verify the relationships between stress level and drinking behavior. A questionnaire survey was administered to 430 university students in the Gangwon area in Korea from November 5 to November 28, 2008, and data from 391 students were used for the final statistical analysis. The most stressful factor was "Worry about academic achievements" (2.86 by Likert-type 4 point scale). The subjects were divided into two groups, a low stress group (${\leq}65.0$) and a high stress group (${\geq}66.0$), by the mean value (65.1) and median value (66.0) of the stress levels. The drinking frequency was not different between the two stress groups, but the amount of alcohol consumption was significantly different ($P$ < 0.05). The portion of students reporting drinking "7 glasses or over" was higher in the lower stress group than in the higher stress group. In addition, factor 6, "Lack of learning ability", was negatively correlated with drinking frequency and the amount of alcohol consumption ($P$ < 0.05), and factor 3, "Worry about academic achievements", was negatively correlated with the amount of drinking ($P$ < 0.05). The major motive for drinking was "When overjoyed or there is something to celebrate" (2.62), and the main expected effect of drinking was "Drinking enables me to get together with people and shape my sociability" (2.73). The higher stress group showed significantly higher scores on several items in the categories of motives ($P$ < 0.01), negative experience ($P$ < 0.05), and expected effects ($P$ < 0.05) of drinking than the lower stress group. Our results imply that university students at the lower stress level may drink more from social motives in positive drinking environments, while those at the higher stress level may have more problematic-drinking despite their smaller amount of alcohol consumption.

The Factors Influencing the Use of Shared Economy-Based Mobility Services

  • Purpose: Shared mobility services are the most notable in the shared economy; however, they have yet to be activated in Korea due to various regulations and conflicts amongst stakeholders. Nevertheless, shared mobility has become an irresistible trend of the times, as it can cause a great deal of economic and environmental benefits. In this vein, the purpose of this study is to contribute to the revitalization of shared mobility services in Korea and to provide service providers with implications for developing consumer-oriented marketing strategies. Research design, data and methodology: Based on the reasons that the users do not use shared mobility service, the factors influencing the behaviors of shared mobility users are structured and analyzed in a reliable, technical and procedural manner. To this end, the theory of reasoned action (TRA) of Ajzen and Fisbbein, the initial trust model (ITM), task technology fit (TTF) and switching cost (SC) are adopted. A total of 202 questionnaires were collected from the respondents who were aware of shared mobility. Then statistical processing of the collected data used SmartPLS(v.3.2.8), a PLS-SEM (Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling) analysis program. The steps of the analysis are as follows. First, a PLS-Algorithm analysis was performed to evaluate the measurement model, and a Bootstraping and Blindfolding analysis was performed to evaluate the structural model and verify the hypotheses. Second, a multi-group analysis (PLS-MGA) was conducted to further analyze the differences depending on whether or not users experienced shared mobility service. Results: The results showed that initial trusts model (ITM) and task technology fit (TTF) have positive effects on users' behaviors through the mediation of the intention to use. As opposed to the assumption, switching costs did not have negative moderating effects in relation to the intention to use and users' behaviors. The influence of IT self-efficacy was significant, depending on the prior experience to use shared mobility services. Conclusions: This study will contribute to the revitalization of domestic shared mobility services and the formulation of service providers' marketing strategies. In future studies, there is a need to explore, reconstruct, and validate factors other than the impact factors of the shared mobility services used in this research model.

The Influential Relations on Sharing Economy and Consumer Traits (공유경제와 소비자의 특성과의 영향 관계)

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to grasp the concept, characteristics and application status of sharing economy, and to derive a research model based on sharing economic service, and to analyze factors and influences of consumers' intention to reuse of sharing economy. Research design, data, and methodology - The questionnaires were created to examine variables for practical and theoretical implications. After pilot survey, conducted for 24 days from March 10th to April 2st in 2017, total numbers were 377. But 330 copies were used for the analysis with IBM SPSS Statistics 23.0 and IBM SPSS AMOS 23.0. The structural equation model was applied for this. Results - First, sharing economic services remain at an early stage, but it is meaningful to identify the revenue mechanism of the business model of the sharing economic platform. Second, in this study, it is meaningful that we systematized the theoretical structure by examining existing studies on the characteristics of the sharing economic service and consumer characteristics, and by examining empirically. Third, Satisfaction and Reliability are related to the characteristics of Sharing Economic Service (Security, Convenience, Discount, Sharing, Social Interaction), Consumer Characteristics (Personal Innovation, Word-of-Mouth) It is meaningful to broaden the understanding of the factors by verifying the mediating effect. Fourth, the sharing economy business is meaningful in that it is a new consumption trend that changes the meaning of consumption to consumers. Gradually, more and more people are recalling that purchasing something is not consumption, but sharing and borrowing is also consumption. In other words, through the sharing economy, consumers can experience more products and services, have more choices, and are expected to have a positive impact on economic growth by increasing the utilization of idle resources. Conclusions - Currently, the sharing economy is growing rapidly all over the world. Therefore, in the subsequent study, it is necessary to compare Korea and China's sharing economy and study the cultural and social characteristics of Korea and China. In particular, I think that steady research is necessary for more precise and specific direction on the influence of the shared economy.

A Landscape Design of Mixed Use Development Project by Project Financing in Baebang, Asan (아산배방 복합단지개발 PF사업 조경설계)

  • This landscape design proposal was presented for a competition for mixed-use development project by project financing in Asan Baebang which was held by the Korea National Housing Corporation in July of 2005. The site is a center of Asan Baebang New Town Development District and has a commercial area of $57,929m^{2}$. Design guidelines and judging criteria of this competition were to build a symbolic center and cultural core for district, to elevate positive image and identity of Asan New Town by attractive place making, to link with separated block in the site and regional context, and to make environmentally sustainable design by creating an attractive waterfront of Jang Jae stream passing through the site. This is the most important condition for the design. Therefore, the authors developed design concept and strategy within the guidelines and this conditions. The schema of the design was introduced by the water in the site. To evolve design concept, we reinterpreted water and context in the site combining with landscape design strategy. So the proposal set the main design concept as 'all that is solid melt into water' as if Marshall Berman said. By doing that, design concept of the proposal evolved as follows: 'extension' of water and greer, 'a joint' of space,'newness' of experience, 'breath' of consensus with each other. The spatial concept of this project was developed by expressing five theme spaces; eco zone, entertainment zone, art zone, culture zone, leisure zone. These theme spaces were consecutively placed along the pedestrian path and to consists of vertical layer in each level and diverse design technique and spatial effects are used.

Value Articulation Strategy of Media and Content Company: Mainly Focused on Iconix's Animation 'Pororo' Case (미디어 콘텐츠 기업의 무형자산 중심 지식재산 가치 연결 전략: 아이코닉스 애니메이션 뽀로로에 대한 탐색적 사례연구)

  • Under the influence of growing popularity of "hallyu" (Korean wave), corporates that have copyrights such as music, movie, drama as their core competitiveness are showing continuing growth. In Addition, they built on contents are rapidly growing, interests in protection and management of intellectual property rights linked to contents are growing. Global contents development corporates are making great efforts to create profits out of copyrights. They could utilize original contents to strengthen brand value use it to produce additional contents in current market. Also they take advantage of existing storyline of the contents and strong brand to explore new markets. This paper looks into Value articulation model by Professor James Conley and analyzed the firms that utilized intellectual property rights to extend the period of protection, strengthen their competitiveness and succeeded in breaking into new market by using the rights they possess. Also, this paper examines the usage of intellectual property rights and business expansion strategy of of Iconix, the Korean entertainment company, which gained tremendous popularity in last ten years using this model. In Value articulation model, Conley classifies the process of exploiting the portfolio of the single product's(or service's) intellectual property right for a period of time into three stages ; value transference, value translation, value transportation. Pororo's strategy of utilizing intellectual property right is suggestive to domestic entertainment companies. Under the influence of hallyu" (Korean wave), domestic contents such as movies, dramas and music are enjoying the high level of popularity recently not to mention animations. In reality, Korean entertainment companies who have no background or experience of Intellectual property rights are not creating enough added values compared to fast growing market. It is believed Iconix's intellectual property rights management strategy will suggest positive aspects to domestic companies. Moreover, I hope various intellectual property rights management strategies including Conley's value articulation are studied and they can make contributions to managing domestic entertainment companies.
