  • New Product Development (NPD) is essential for companies' survival, and continuous growth in the rapidly changing, convergence and business environment, and companies need to collaborate with their internal and external partners to improve performance in NPD. This research examined the integrated relationship between NPD (Cross-functional collaboration, and supplier collaboration) and collaborative communication (formality and reciprocal feedback) on corporate performance. The employees who worked in manufacturing for more than one year with experience in NPD were tested. The reliability and feasibility were assessed using the sample 272 data. The results are summarized as follows. First, cross-functional collaboration and supplier collaboration, which are the factors of NPD collaboration, had a significant positive effect on formality. Second, formality and reciprocal feedback had a significant positive effect on reciprocal feedback and corporate performance. Therefore, for successful NPD, manufacturing companies need to establish efficient management strategies and communicate officially and reciprocally to maximize productivity and efficiency based on the reciprocal partnership between suppliers. To accomplish this, companies need to plan effective communication strategies to respond quickly to internal and external partners' needs.

  • The effects of mentoring education bring positive effects such as mentees' capacity building, knowledge improvement and positive attitude. The major difficulties that nursing college students experience in clinical practice are low adaptability, lack of confidence, etc. Therefore, this study developed mentoring education program to improve the problem-solving ability, learning attitude, and confidence in nursing skill before clinical practice for nursing college students and evaluated their effectiveness. In order to develop the program, a group of experts consisting of professors and clinical nurses selected 11 topics after discussing nursing skills and knowledge, which were most required in clinical practice. The program involved 14 mentors who operated practice, counseling, video clips, and contextual discussions for two days to a group of 9 to 10 people. Nursing college students who received the mentoring education program showed a significant increase in learning attitude and confidence in performance of nursing skills, but there was no statistically significant difference in problem-solving ability. This study is meaningful in that it has improved the educational effect by using mentoring methods, away from formal in-school practice education. In the future, it will be necessary to evaluate whether the mentoring education program affect the problem-solving ability of nursing students by applying it before, during, and after clinical practice rather than in a short period.

  • Responding to the rapid delivery demands and variety of small-volume products through human resource-dependent logistics operations in online markets is difficult. Logistics robots in fulfillment centers are expected to increase due to difficulties in hiring workers and rising labor costs. Amazon operates more than 100,000 robots in its Fulfillment centers. Alibaba, DHL, and UPS are also introducing robot technology to improve the logistics efficiency. Logistics robots are being used actively in the fierce online market competition of the global distribution industry. On the other hand, Korea is relatively sluggish. To revitalize the introduction of logistics robots in Korea, it is necessary to examine the factors that influence acceptance. The description of acceptability was based on an expanded technology acceptance model that has been verified through various studies. Studies have shown that both the ease and usefulness of purchasing have significant effects, and that ease has the greatest effect. The more experience involved, the more innovative, the more positive. The usefulness was shown to be positive as the perceived risks are low, price efficiency is good, and social impact is greater. This study provides theoretical and practical implications for logistics robot development and marketing.

  • This study was conducted to explore the levels of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS)-related knowledge, attitudes and preventive behaviors performance and to identify predictors of MERS-related preventive behaviors performance among clinical practice students in a tertiary hospital. The participants were 480 nursing and medical clinical practice students. Data collection was conducted using self-reported questionnaires in June of 2015 and were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-tests, one-way ANOVA, and hierarchical regression using the SPSSWIN 24.0 program. The MERS-related knowledge (9.56 out of 13 points) was high, attitudes towards MERS, such as severity cognition and prevention about MERS was positive (4.15 out of 5 points), and MERS-related preventive behaviors performance level was moderate (3.02 out of 5 points). Female students, having education experience regarding MERS, taking vaccination for influenza H1N1 infection in the last year, having the intention of taking influenza H1N1 in the current year, having fear of MERS infection, higher knowledge and more positive attitudes about MERS were predictors of better MERS-related preventive behaviors performance. These results show that general characteristics associated with MERS-related preventive behaviors performance should be considered to improve preventive behaviors of clinical practice students. Furthermore, this study highlights the need to develop effective and useful MERS education programs that provide essential knowledge and attitude about MERS that clinical practice students must acquire to promote the MERS-related preventive behaviors performance.

  • This study examined the correlations between investigating human rights sensitivity, interpersonal caring behavior, and biomedical ethics in nursing students who have clinical practice experience. The data were collected using structured questionnaires for 3rd and 4th grade nursing students who were attending three universities in Gyeonggi-do and Chungcheong-do. As a result of this study, nursing college students' human rights sensitivity, interpersonal caring behavior, and biomedical ethics were scored as 112.23, 3.95, and 2.03 points, respectively. There were significant differences in human rights sensitivity according to major satisfaction (t=3.320. p=.001), clinical practice satisfaction (t=2.557, p=.012), and clinical peer relationship (t=4.234, p<.001), interpersonal care behavior according to major satisfaction (t=3.423. p=.001), clinical practice satisfaction (t=4.364, p<.001), and clinical peer relationship (t=3.708, p=.001), and biomedical ethics according to major satisfaction (t=-2.404, p=.018). Human rights sensitivity showed positive correlations with biomedical ethics (r=.27, p<.01), and interpersonal caring behavior showed a positive correlation with biomedical ethics (r=.17, p<.05). Based on these findings, it is necessary to develop systematic nursing education programs to strengthen interpersonal caring behavior, biomedical ethics, and human rights sensitivity.

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to identify whether the operation of cultural centers in discount stores contributes to their profitability. Thus, this study is aimed at exploring how the lifestyles of customers who use the cultural centers influence their intention to use the discount stores. Specifically, the effect of shopping value on the correlation between the lifestyle types and usage intention of the customers were examined through a structured research model. To verify the effect, a survey on 139 customers of the Cultural Center of Nonghyup Hanaro Club's S branch was conducted and the valid questionnaires were used for analysis. Research design, data, and methodology - The findings are as follows. First, the lifestyles seeking self-realization had a positive effect on utilitarian value, and lifestyles seeking pop cultures had a positive effect on hedonic value. Second, the mediating effect of shopping value on the correlation between the lifestyle types and usage intention of the customers is as follows. Utilitarian value had a mediating effect only on the lifestyles seeking self-realization. In case of lifestyles seeking pop cultures, the use of Cultural Center had no effect on the intention to use the discount store. Third, an analysis of a revised research model revealed that the store usage intention of lifestyles seeking pop cultures can be enhanced by boosting the utilitarian value through hedonic value. Results - The findings suggest the following. Customers with lifestyles seeking self-realization, who value what is beneficial to them with little attention to the perceptions of others, are highly interested in the benefits they can gain from shopping. As for customers with lifestyles seeking pop cultures, they are highly likely to consume products popular in a particular culture such as new products and sports, based on financial stability they pursue. Thus, they prefer more subjective, personal experience, unlike consumers pursuing utilitarian value. Conclusions - As a result, the former pursues hedonic value gained in the process of shopping with fun and joy, rather than doing shopping with a particular purpose in mind. Therefore, Cultural Centers need to offer information that fits the lifestyles of the users so that they are more likely to use the discount stores. However, if the Cultural Centers offer unified, profit-driven products and information, just to increase their store sales, it can backfire, which occurred in the past. On the other hand, if they provide information that fits the lifestyles of the users, it can actually increase the sales. Also, the findings suggest that sophisticated marketing strategies that can boost the hedonic value of customers by linking the educational contents of Cultural Centers to actual shopping, which is beneficial to consumers, should be set and operated by discount stores. In particular, customers with lifestyles seeking self-realization can be encouraged to use the stores by making them recognize the utilitarian value. However, the use of Cultural Centers doesn't necessarily lead to higher sales among customers with lifestyles seeking pop cultures. As mentioned previously, unified marketing strategy is not as effective for Cultural Centers of large discount stores.

  • According to many researches on brand management, the decision makings on brand marketing should center on the brand identity. Based on the brand management theory, Brand Identity-based OSMU Strategy has been suggested, in which the decision makings for culture content's OSMU should be focused on the brand identity of content to maximize the brand equity. In this study, the effectiveness of suggested brand identity-based OSMU strategy model is empirically studied, together with the effect on the brand equity. The study on the consumer's attitude toward the Harry Potter T-shirt with the associations of 'magic, courage and confrontation against evil' proved that consumers respond more favorably in terms of their recognition of the fit-to-content, preference and perceived quality. With this result, the positive effect of brand identity-based OSMU on consumer attitude is verified. On the other hand, the study on the effect of brand identity bearing T-shirt on brand equity did not support the hypothesis that the brand identity-based OSMU has the positive feedback effect on the brand equity of culture content. Still, while the brand equity is established through the long period of time with consumer's consistent experience on the certain culture content, the effect of brand identity-based OSMU on brand equity has a room for further discussion and research. While the ultimate goal of marketing is to create the power brand with high brand value, the further discussion on the effective culture content OSMU strategy to create a power brand is needed.

  • BACKGROUND: The changes in the climatic conditions have brought potentially significant new challenges, most critical are likely to be its impact on local livelihoods, agriculture, biodiversity and environments. Water induced disasters such as landslides, floods, erratic rain etc., are very common in developing countries which lead to changes in biological, geophysical and socioeconomic elements. The extent of damages caused by natural disasters is more sever in least developing countries. However, disasters affect women and men differently. In most of the cases women have to carry more burden as compared to their male counterpart during the period of disasters. METHODS AND RESULTS: This study examines the impact of disasters on the local livelihood especially agriculture and income generating activities of women in three districts of Nepal. The study uses the primary data collected following an exploratory approach, based on an intensive field study. The general findings of the study revealed that women had to experience hard time as compared to their male counterpart both during and after the disaster happen. Women are responsible for caring their children, collecting firewood, fetching water, collecting grass for livestock and performing household chores. Whereas, men are mainly involved in out-migration and remained out-side home most of the time. After the disaster occurred, most of the women had to struggle to support their lives as well as had to work longer hours than men during reconstruction period. Nepal follows patriarchal system and men can afford more leisure time as compared to women. During the disaster period, some of the households lost their agricultural lands, livestock and other properties. These losses created some additional workload to women respondent, however at the same time; they learn to build confidence, self-respect, self-esteem, and self-dependency.Although Nepal is predominantly agriculture, majority of the farmers are at subsistence level. In addition, men and women have different roles which differ with the variation in agro-production systems. Moreover women are extensively involved in agricultural activities though their importances were not recognized. Denial of land ownership and denial of access to resources as well as migration of male counterparts are some of the major reasons for affecting the agricultural environments for women in Nepal. CONCLUSION: The shelter reconstruction program has definitely brought positive change in women's access to decision making. The gradual increase in number of women respondent in access to decision making in different areas is a positive change and this has also provided them with a unique opportunity to change their gendered status in society.Furthermore, the exodus out-flow of male counterparts accelerated the additional burden and workload on women.
