Factors Affecting Self-Medication (자가투약의 영향 요인)

  • The aims of this study were to find out present situation of self-medication, and to explicate the factors affecting self-medication propensity. To explicate empirically the factors affecting self-medication propensity, a model containing five groups of determining factors such as attitudinal, behavioral, knowled해, and need of health care factors, and demographic factors were developed. Data were collected from 647 residents in Pusan and Kyungnam using the self-administered questionnaire. The major reslts obtained were as follows: First, self-medication was 32% of all utilization of pharmacy. The drugs used for self-medication most commonly were analgesics(16.2%), followed by antacids and stomachics(14.2%), dermatologic preparations(13.1%), tonics and drinks (12.6%). Second, the sources from which people obtained drug information at self-medication were label of the container(50.8%), pharmacist(32.4%), self-decision or lay person(16.8%). The experience of side effect was 10.6% of all self-medication and how people cope with was withdrawal(59.0%), consultation by pharmacist or doctor(35.9%). Third, the results of ANOVA showed a statistically significant relationship between self-medication propensity and 3 demograpic factors, such as sex(p<0.10), age(p<0.10) and job(p<0.05). Forth, the results of multiple regression analysis showed a statistically significant positive relationship betwee self-medication propensity and satisfaction of previous self-medication, knowledge of drug, drug dependency, the frequency of doctor visiting, confidence in drug advertisement, tendency toward self-treatment of the family, and job. And it showed negative relationship between self-medication propensity and confidence in the medical profession, and health behavior. The model explained 29.5% of the variance in self-medication(p<0.001).

Effects of Burn-out on the Emotional Labor of Hair Designer (헤어디자이너의 감정노동이 소진에 미치는 영향)

  • Most of employees in service area frequently and strongly experience job-stress caused by emotional labour than in general. This job-stress is supposed to incur employees' burn-out, which burn-out brings a lower service quality in various aspects of physical and spiritual hospitality. The purpose of this study is to identify the impacts of burn-out on emotional labour of hair designer, with 155 primary data from a sample of 200 employees of hair shop in Seoul and Gyeongnam area. The reliability and validity of the collected data were checked through the calculation of Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ and factor analysis. The empirical research made by regression analysis confirms that emotional labour significantly has a negative effect on burn-out of hair designer. Therefore, hypothesis presented to mediate the effect of burn-out on emotional labour of hair designer was supported in positive. Hopefully, this study contributes to hair business shops for setting up a management strategy on effective job-satisfaction of hair designer.

A Study on the Influence of Consumer Lifestyle on Consumer's Selection of Bakery Cafe Attributes: Focusing the Age Group of 20s and 30s (라이프스타일에 따른 베이커리 카페 선택속성 및 이용행태에 관한 연구 - 20~30대 소비자를 중심으로 -)

  • This paper aimed to investigate the influence of consumer lifestyle on consumer selection of bakery cafe attributes. Data were collected through a self-administered questionnaire by 403 random consumers between the ages 20s and 30s in several bakery cafes in Seoul and Gyonggi area. Different methods of statistical analysis had been used such as frequency analysis, factor analysis, k-means clustering analysis, cross tabulation, one way ANOVA and Duncan's multiple range test with SPSS for Window 13.0 package. First, when analyzing the 16 questions of comsumer lifestyles, four factors were extracted: 'dining out-oriented factor', 'achievement-oriented factor', 'brand-oriented factor', and 'health-oriented factor'. Second, the respondents were divided into three groups by k-means cluster analysis: no interest group, dining-out & value oriented group, and health-brand oriented group. Third, consumer's bakery cafe attributes were categorized into five factors including 'food', 'convenience and image', 'store promotion', 'positive dining experience', and 'menu & merchandises'. Finally when analyzing the differences in the selection of bakery cafe attributes according to consumer's lifestyles, it showed a significant differences.

Effects of Consumers' Perception of Shopping Cost and Recreational Shopping Orientation on Catalog Shopping of Apparel (의류 제품의 통신 판매와 소비자 구매 의도 -쇼핑 비용 지각과 쾌락적 쇼핑 성향을 중심으로-)

  • With rapid changes in social and marketing environments, catalog retailing emerges as a new method of selling clothes in Korea. In catalog shopping, in-store and multi·store search behavior are omitted saving consumers time and effort. On the other hand, consumers may lose recreational enjoyment of shopping when they purchase clothes through catalog. In this study, consumers perception of shopping cost and recreational shopping orientation were tested as consumer characteristic intervening catalog shopping behavior. The concept of shopping cost was derived from Darian(1987)'s analysis of cost and benefit of store shopping and in-home shopping. A national sample of 700 adult women was surveyed and 477 questionnaires were returned and used for statistical analysis. Nine shopping cost perception variables were found to have significant positive relationships with the purchase intention of apparel through catalog. As a result of confirmatory factor analysis, two factors of shopping cost were found; perception of lack of shopping time and perception of store search effort. Causal modeling of LISREL analysis showed that percetion of lack of shopping time was strongly related with patronizing intention of catalog shopping. Since catalog shopping exclude enjoyment of store shopping activity, it can be logically inferred that recreational store shoppers have less chance of being catalog shoppers. However, the result of LISREL analysis showed that there were no negative relationship between recreational shopping orientation and catalog shopping intention. This suggests that consumers might experience enjoyment of shopping through catalog when properly presented.

A study on the smoking status of the university students in some regions (일부지역 대학생들의 흡연 실태조사)

  • Objectives : The objective of this research was to investigate the smoking state of students in Y university, located in Youngdong-gun, Choungbuk. Methods : This research was conducted toward 311 number of students in the university. The questionnaire basically consists of the status of smoking, the behavior of smoker and non-smoker. Results : 58.2% of the male respondents were current smoker, but 72.4% of the females were non-smoker. 58.2% of the current smokers were 22 to 25 aged group. The highest rate of time to begin with smoking was in 15 to 18 years old and the most of people consumed 11 to 20 pieces of cigarettes per day. 48.9% of the students have an experience to keep no smoking more than one month. There were reverse correlation(r=-.335) between the status of smoking and sex, and positive correlation(r=.264) between the status of smoking and an age. Of the people experiencing non-smoking, 55.3% were smoking 'everyday' and 44.7% were 'sometimes'. The biggest part of the reason why stopped smoking was for 'the advices of other people'(25.5%), and 'Harm to health' and 'Social atmosphere of non-smoking'(21.3%) were following. Conclusions : In the university students, current smokers among male students were still high smoking rate. Therefore Dental Hygiene students in the same University have to provide the quit smoking education and oral health care methods for current smokers.

Association between Educational Level of Parents and Adolescent Depression Feeling: Based on 14th Korean Youth Health Behavior Survey (부모의 학력수준과 우울감 사이의 연관성: 제14기(2018년) 청소년건강행태조사 자료를 이용하여)

  • Background: This study aimed to demonstrate the association between the education level of parents and adolescent depression feeling. Methods: We used the chi-square test and the multiple logistic regression model to analyze the data of the "Korean Youth Health Behavior Survey in 2018" (n=43,220) conducted by the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Results: As a result of the analysis, a group whose parents' education level is 'above the university graduation (including the graduation of the college)' had statistically significant experience of depression than a group whose parents' education level is 'high school graduation.' Conclusion: When preparing a policy on adolescent depression feeling, we need to consider the association between the education level of parents and adolescent depression feeling. Especially, a higher level of education of parents needs attention and management to foster positive mental health rather than excessive academic pressure, especially in the parent-child relationship of the same gender.

The Effect of Buying Experiences of the Fashion Brands on the PPL(Product Placement) Communication Effect (패션 브랜드 구매경험이 PPL(Product Placement) 커뮤니케이션 효과에 미치는 영향)

  • This study measured the PPL communication effect whether the respondents had purchased the PPL products in the movie or not. The experiment of this study was held to females in their twenties(mostly university or graduate school students), and they answered the questionaries after being exposed to the 15-minute-edited movie. The results were as follows. In cognitive dimension, there were no differences of the recognition and the recall between two groups. In emotional and behavioral dimensions, the group with the purchase experiences of the PPL brands in the movie showed the more positive brand attitude and the higher purchase intention. The implications based on this results are as follows. First, to strengthen the brand image, the brand identity has to be established systematically. Second, the fashion marketers should constantly implement CRM(Customers Relationship Management) to the customers who purchased the brand products to make them loyal customers.

A Study on the Relationship of Empowerment, Self-efficacy, and Turnover Intention of Dental Hygienists (치과위생사의 임파워먼트와 자기효능감, 이직의도와의 관계 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship of empowerment, self-efficacy, and turnover intention of dental hygienists. Date were obtained from 213 dental hygienists who were working at dental clinics, hospitals located in Seoul Kyung-ki. The results were analyzed with spsswin 9.0 and the conclusion is as follows; 1. The level of dental hygienists empowerment was 3.07, self-efficacy was 3.67, and their turnover intention was 2.98. 2. According to the working place and position, there were significant differences in empowerment(p<0.05). 3. According to the experienced-years, position, marriage and turnover experience there were significant differences in self-efficacy(p<0.05). 4. According to the position and marriage, there were significant differences in turnover intention(p<0.05). 5. Empowerment showed significant a positive correlation with self-efficacy and significant a negative correlation with turnover intention. 6. Turnover intention, information structure and opportunity structure accounted significantly for the empowerment structure and self-efficacy. 7. Self-efficacy and GE structure accounted significantly for the turnover intention.

Factors influencing oral health behaviors in high school students (고등학생들의 구강건강행위에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • Objectives : This study was to infectify variable the factors influencing oral health behaviors in high school students. Methods : Data were collected from 241 high school students Busan and Kyungnam Province for four weeks in July 2012. The SPSS 18.0 program was used for data analysis, which included t-test, correlation analysis, multiple logistic regression analysis. Results : Positive correlation in the order of social support(r=.381), self-efficiency(r=.309) with perceived benefit of oral health behavior and social support with total heal index(r=.298) are shown. In the contrary, the relation between social support(r=-.400), subjective oral health status(r=-.222) with impairments of oral health behavior have negative one. Experience in three or more tooth brushing has an effect on social support and subjective oral health status(p<.05). Perceived benefit(p<.001) of oral health life and subjective oral health status(p<.05) are affected by recognition of correct tooth brushing. Intake of harmful food on tooth has an effects on perceived benefit, self-efficiency, total health index and subjective oral health status(p<.05). Conclusions : In conclusion, systematic activation of oral health education in school and correct self-activity of oral health will promote oral health of youth.

Job Satisfaction of Industrial Women Specializing in STEM in The Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam Region

  • A survey was conducted on 300 working women(one woman/company) who specialize in STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) in the Busan region(south of Korea) to determine their job satisfaction. The overall response of women working in industry is relatively positive although they do experience a certain limit as female workers. The serious difficulties are long work hours and restriction of behavior in consequence of being the minority. Respondents anticipate an increase in number of working women in the STEM field due to the enforcement of women resource policies in Korea. Survey results about career development show that some of the most important factors in professionalism are responsibility, gumption and cooperation. The expectation of promotion is very low. Sexual discrimination is distinctly appearing in wages and promotions. If they decide to quit their job in the midstream, the key reason is in the difficulties of compatibility between home and occupation. Survey results about job satisfaction to work in industry reveal that 31.0% of respondents are satisfied because their job is consistent with their specialty; 30.7% of respondents are working where they wanted. Among respondents who intend to change their job, only 20.7% of respondents wanted to keep their specialties. Two factors involved in the respondents' satisfaction during work are special technical achievement and practical application of their knowledge. But, they are unsatisfied in terms of implementing their leadership.
