The Kinematic GPS is well known to provide a quite good accuracy of positioning within an level. Although kinematic GPS assures high precision measurement on the basis of an appreciable distance between a reference station and an observational point, it has measurable distance restriction within 20 km from a reference station on land. Therefore, it is necessary to make out a simple and low-cost method to obtain accurate positioning information without distance restriction In this paper, the velocity integration method to get the precise velocity information of a ship is explained. The experimental results of Zig-zag maneuver and Williamson turn as the ship's maneuvering test, and other experimental results of ship's movement during leaving and entering the port with low speed were shown. From the experimental results, ship's course, speed and position are compared with those obtained by kinematic-GPS, velocity integration method and dead reckoning position using Gyro-compass and Doppler-log.

In the moving target problem, the velocity information of the moving target is very important as well as the high accuracy position information. To solve this problem, active researches are being conducted recently with combine the Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) and Frequency Delay of Arrival(FDOA) measurements. However, since the FDOA measurement is utilizing the Doppler effect due to the relative velocity between the target source and the receiver sensor, it may be difficult to use the FDOA measurement if the moving target speed is not sufficiently fast. In this paper, we propose a method for estimating the position and the velocities of the target by using only the TDOA measurements for the low speed moving target in the indoor environment with sensor network. First, the target position and heading angle are obtained from the estimated positions of two attached transmitters on the target. Then, the target angular and linear velocities are also estimated. In addtion, we apply the Instrumental Variable (IV) technique to compensate the estimation error of the estimated target velocity. In simulation, the performance of the proposed algorithm is verified.
The work presented here is a design and development of sun tracking system for the parabolic dish concentrator. Parabolic dish concentrator is mounted on azimuth and elevation tracking mechanism, and controlled to track the sun with computed and measured sun positions. Sun tracking mechanism is composed of 1/30000 speed reducer(3 stages) and 400W AC servomotor for each axis. The nominal tracking speed of each axis is ${\pm}0.6^{\circ}/sec$ and the system has a driving range of $340^{\circ}$ in azimuth and of $135^{\circ}$ in elevation. Sun tracking control system consists of sun sensor, wind speed and direction measurement system, AC servomotor position control system and personal computer as a master controller. Sun sensor detects the sun located within ${\pm}50^{\circ}$ measured from the sun sensor normal direction. Computer computes the sun position, sunrise and sunset times and controls the orientation of parabolic dish concentrator through the AC servomotor position control system. It also makes a decision of whether the system should follow the sun or not based on the information collected from sun sensor and wind speed and direction measurement system. The sun tracking system developed in this work is implemented for the experimental work and shows a good sun tracking performance.

Kinematic GPS provides quite good accuracy of position in cm level. Though K-GPS assures high precision measurement in cm level on the basis of an appreciable distance between a station and an observational point, but it has measurable distance restriction within 20 km from a reference station on land. So it is necessary to make out a simple and low-cost method to obtain accurate positioning information without distance restriction. In this paper, the velocity integration method to get the precise velocity information of ship is explained. Next two experimental results (Zig-zag maneuvering test and Williamson turn) as the ship's maneuvering test and also the experimental results of leaving and entering port as slow speed ship's movement were shown. In these experimental results, ship's course, speed and position are compared with those obtained by kinematic-GPS, velocity integration method and dead reckoning position using Gyro-compass and Doppler-log.
Purpose: This study was performed to investigate the influence of the condition with and without external support on the strength of hip flexor in supine position in subjects without core stabilization. Hip flexor muscles are very functional in the hip joint structures. Therefore, it is essential to evaluate the strength of hip flexor in a clinical and precise way. Methods: Twenty subjects participated in this study. The double bent leg-lower test was used to evaluate subjects without core stabilization. The strength of hip flexor muscles was evaluated in supine position, both with and without external support condition. The paired t-test was used to compare the strength of hip flexor muscles according to external support. The level of statistical significance was at α=0.05. The intra-rater reliability of the repeated measures of hip flexor strength was estimated by calculating the intra-class correlation coefficients (ICC). Results: In subjects without core stabilization, the strength of hip flexor in supine was greater with external support than that without external support (p<0.05). In addition, the intra-rater reliability with an ICC (3, 1) of the strength measurement of hip flexor with external support was higher than that without external support. Conclusion: In subjects without core stabilization, the condition with external support can contribute to the strength of hip flexor in supine position and the strength measurement of hip flexor should be considered with the condition with and without external support.

This paper is the forth investigation on the evaluation methods of flow characteristics in a steady flow bench. In the previous works, it was concluded that the assumption of the solid rotation might cause serious problems and both of the eccentricity and the velocity profile distort the flow characteristics when using the ISM at 1.75B plane. Also particle image velocimetry (PIV) measurement at this position showed that the real velocity profile was far from the assumption of ISM evaluation. In this paper, the planar velocity profiles were measure from 1.75B to 6.00B position by PIV and the characteristics were examined according to the valve angles and lifts for further investigations about the effect of the position on the velocity profile. The results show that $26^{\circ}$ valve angle is always an unique exceptional case in all aspects. If the valve angle is $21^{\circ}$ and below, the planar velocity profiles according to the lift and the position are similar to each other, however, the tangential velocity curves along with the radial direction have common tendencies up to $16^{\circ}$ angle. Also the well arranged swirl behaviors are generally observed at the position above 3.00B and the velocity contour lines come closer to the concentric circle as the valve lift increases. In addition, the gradient of tangential velocity along with the radial direction from the swirl center becomes stable and constant as the position goes downstream. Concurrently the velocity gradient is larger to the eccentric direction of the center. In the meantime the tangential velocity curves along with the radial direction are irregular and various at 1.75B, however, they become regular and reach higher level as the evaluation position goes downstream. At this time the curves of 4.50B are the best fitted to the ideal one. On the other hand in an exceptional case, $26^{\circ}$, the velocity contours are very complicated over 6mm valve lift regardless the position and the gradient increases to the opposite direction of the eccentric center. Also, 6.00B is a best fitting position in the geometrical cylinder center base. With respect to the swirl center, the distribution range of centers for 1.75B is different to that for the other positions and the eccentricities of this plane are larger regardless the valve angle. After 1.75B, there is no certain tendency in the center position change according to the valve angle and lift. Additionally, the eccentricities are not sufficiently small to neglecting the effect on ISM measurement.
In fingerprint-based wireless positioning, it is necessary to establish a DB of the unmeasured area. To this end, a method of estimating the position of a base station based on a signal propagation model, and a method of estimating the information of the received signal in the unmeasured area based on the estimated position of the base station have been investigating. The purpose of this paper is to estimate the position of the base station using the measured information and to analyze the performance of the positioning. Vehicles equipped with a GPS receiver and signal measuring equipment travel the service area and acquire location-based Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP) measurements. We propose a method of estimating the position of the base station using the measured information. And the performance of the proposed method is analyzed on a simulation basis. The simulation results confirm that the accuracy of the positioning is affected by the measured area and the Dilution of Precision (DOP), the accuracy of the position information obtained by the GPS receiver, and the errors of the signal included in the RSRP. Based on the results of this paper, we can expect that the position of the base station can be estimated and the DB of the unmeasured area can be constructed based on the estimated position of the base stations and the signal propagation model.
This paper proposes an updating policy of indoor moving object databases (IMODB) for location-based services. our method applies the Ka1man filter on the recently collected measured positions to estimate the moving object's position and velocity at the moment of the most recent measurement, and extrapolate the current position with the estimated position and velocity. If the distance between the extrapolated current position and the measured current position is within the threshold, in other words if they are close then we skip updating the IMODB. When the IMODB needs to know the moving object's position at a certain moment T, it applies the Kalman filter on the series of the measurements received before T and extrapolates the position at T with the estimations obtained by the Kalman filter. In order to verify the efficiency of our updating method, we performed the experiments of applying our method on the series of measured positions obtained by applying the fingerprinting indoor positioning method while we are actually walking through the test bed. In the analysis of the test results, we estimated the communication saving rate of our method and the error increment rate caused by the communication saving.

This paper proposes a novel rotor position error calculation method for high-frequency signal-injected sensorless control. The rotor position error using the conventional modulation method can be only measured up to ${\pm}45^{\circ}$. In addition, when the rotor position estimation error is not sufficiently small, the small angle approximation in no longer valid. To overcome these problems, this study introduces a new rotor position error calculation method using the rotating matrix. In this study, the position error measurement range of the proposed method is extended from ${\pm}45^{\circ}$ to ${\pm}90^{\circ}$. The linearity between the real rotor position error and the estimated error is maintained by nearly $90^{\circ}$. These features of the proposed method improve the performance of the sensorless control. The validity of the proposed method is verified by simulations and experiments.

We propose a new distance measurement method and local positioning system for the autonomous mobile robots localization. The distance measurement method is able to measure long-range distances with a high accuracy by using ultrasonic sensors. The time of flight of the ultrasonic waves include various noises is calculated accurately by the proposed period detecting method. The proposed local positioning system is composed of four ultrasonic transmitters and one ultrasonic receiver. The ultrasonic transmitter and receiver are separated but they are synchronized by RF (Radio frequency) signal. The proposed system using ultrasonic waves is represented as USAT(Ultrasonic Satellite System). USAT is able to estimate the position using the least square estimation. The experimental results show that the proposed local positioning system enables to estimate the absolute position precisely.
