This paper describes how a relatively compensate the error of position by using low cost Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) has been evaluated and compared with the well established method based on a Kalman Filter(KF). The compensation algorithm by using IMU have been applied to the problem of integrating information from an Inertial Navigation System (INS). The KF is to estimate and compensate the errors of an INS by using the integrated INS velocity and position. We verify the proposed algorithm by simulation results.
In ultrasonic medical imaging, spatial compounding of images is a technique where ultrasonic beam is steered to examine patient tissues in multiple angles. In the conventional ultrasonic diagnostic imaging, the steering of the ultrasonic beam is achieved electronically using the phased array transducer elements. In this paper, a spatial compounding approach is presented where the ultrasonic probe element is rotated mechanically and the beam steering is achieved mechanically. In the spatial compounding, target position is computed using the value of the rotation axis and the transducer array angular position. However, in the process of the rotation mechanism construction and the control system there arises the inevitable uncertainties in these values. These geometric parameter errors result in the target position error, and the consequence is a blurry compounded image. In order to reduce these target position errors, we present a spatial compounding scheme where error correcting transformation matrices are computed and applied to the raw images before spatial compounding to reduce the blurriness in the compounded image. The proposed scheme is illustrated using phantom and live scan images of human knee, and it is shown that the blurriness is effectively reduced.
In this paper, the error caused by the measurement delay in INS/GPS integrated systems with Kalman filtering is defined and analyzed through the analytical method and the simulation. It is proved that the error of measurement delay causes not only the position error but also the estimate error of the x-axis accelerometer bias when a vehicle turns. And the estimation method of the delay time and the compensation method using an extrapolation method are presented. The performance of the compensation method is shown by the analytic method and the simulation.
This paper introduces a compensating system for machining error, which is resulted from chucking with separated jaws. In machining the chucked cylindrical workpiece, the deterioration of machining accuracy, such as out-of-roundness is inevitable due to the variation of the radial compliance of the chuck workpiece system which is caused by the position of jaws with respect to the direction of the applied force. To compensate the chucking compliance induced error, firstly roundness profile of workpiece due to chucking compliance after machining needs to be predicted. Then using this predicted profile, the compensated tool feed trajectory can be generated. And by synchronizing the cutting tool feed system with workpiece rotation, the chucking compliance induced error can be compensated. To satisfy the condition that the cutting tool feed system must provide high speed and high position accuracy, brushless linear DC motor is used. In this study, firstly through the force-deflection experiment in workpiece chucked lathe, the variation of radial compliance of chuck workpiece system is obtained. Secondly using the mathematical equation and cutting experiment result, the predicted profile of workpiece and its compensation tool trajectory are generated. Thirdly the configuration of compensation system using linear motor is introduced, and to improve the system performance, PID controller is designed. Finally the tracking performance of system is examined by experiment. Through the real cutting experiment, roundness is significantly improved.
In this paper, the error compensation method of the low-cost IMU is proposed. In general, the position and attitude error calculated by accelerometers and gyros grows with time. Therefore the additional information is required to compensate the drift. The attitude angles can be bound accelerometer mixing algorithm and the heading angle can be aided by single antenna GPS velocity. The Kalman filter is used for error compensation. The result is verified by comparing with the attitude calculated by Attitude Heading Reference System with Micro Electro Mechanical System for a basis
Resolvers are transducers that are used to sense the angular position of rotational machines. The analog resolver is necessary to use resolver to digital converter. Among the RDC software method, angle tracking observer (ATO) is the most popular method. In an actual resolver-based position sensing system, amplitude imbalance dominantly distorts the estimate position information of ATO. Minority papers have reported position error compensation of resolver's output signal with amplitude imbalance. This paper proposes new ATO algorithm in order to compensate position errors caused by the amplitude imbalance. There is no need premeasured off line data. This is easy, simple, cost-effective, and able to work on line compensation. To verify feasibility of the proposed algorithm, simulation and experiments are carried out.
This paper analyzes the characteristics of pre-sliding friction of an X-Y table of CNC machining center at velocity reversal, and presents a simple and effective method of friction compensation based on this characteristics. At velocity reversal, a large position tracking error occurs because of the discontinuous change of friction. The relationship between the occurrence time of maximum position tracking error and the acceleration at zero velocity is analyzed by using the spring-like friction model. Furthermore, the experimental observation verifies this relation. From this, the state transition tine from pre-sliding regime into sliding regime can be predicted. Using the predicted transition time, the friction can be effectively compensated and table experimental results show its effectiveness.
Mechanical and electrical parameter uncertainties cause dynamic and static estimation errors of the rotor speed and position, resulting in performance deterioration of sensorless control systems. This paper applies an extended nonlinear observer to interior permanent magnet synchronous motors (IPMSM) for the simultaneous estimation of the rotor speed and position. Two compensation methods are proposed to improve the observer performance against parameter uncertainties: an on-line rotational inertia adjustment approach that employs the gradient descent algorithm to suppress dynamic estimation errors, and an equivalent flux error compensation approach to eliminate static estimation errors caused by inaccurate electrical parameters. The effectiveness of the proposed control strategy is demonstrated by experimental tests.
It is a very important problem that we grasp the accurate position at car navigation system. The GPS has used for knowing position because of accumulating few errors, but it have errors that are Tropospheric error, ionospheric error and Multipath error and so on. In this paper, We estimate moving position of a vehicle by Kalman filter using initial value after deducing the line equation using initial value and target value of map data. Then, we compensate GPS errors compare estimated poing with GPS errors. The experimental results have shown that are compared position data during real travel with compensated position data which are got after applying the algorithm ...
Existing error compensation method of industrial electronic absolute displacement detector only depends on skilled engineers. This paper proposes a new table method in order to automatize error compensation. An waveform changes according to the parallel resistance for each pole were tabularized and four waveforms were superimposed to minimize total phase error. These process was verified using simulink. As a result of applying proposed method to the real sensor, peak to peak error was reduced from $3.428^{\circ}$ to $0.879^{\circ}$. In this case, compensation resistance is $4.7k\Omega$ in B pole and $20k\Omega$ in C pole. This compensation rate is comparable to skilled engineers, and it takes 0.8 second which is far shorter than 15 minutes when expert does.
