  • Jaw relations and the recording methods have been controversial aspects of dentistry. The purpose of this study was to quantify the relative muscle activity of the masseter and temporal muscles in relation to different intermaxillary relations recorded by intra-oral tracer during maximal clenching and to decide the optimal mandibular position. Ten volunteers with healthy TMJ were studied. Intra-oral tracer was assembled and bite block was fabricated in the articulator. Intra-oral tracer was placed in the mouth, and four mandibular positions were recorded. EMG activity was recorded on a BIO-PAK system (Bio-Research Associates, Inc. USA.) in masseter and temporal muscle and compared in each mandibular positions. The results were as follows: 1. In comparison with maximum intercuspation, the chewing position was the most similar followed by tapping position, myocentric position and posterior border position. However the differences were not statistically significant. 2. In comparison of bilateral symmetry of masseter muscle, tapping position was the most symmetrical followed by chewing position and maximum intercuspation. Myocentric position and posterior border position were not symmetrical. (P<.05). 3. In comparison of bilateral symmetry of anterior temporal muscle, chewing position was the most symmetrical followed by posterior border position, maximum intercuspation, myocentric position and tapping position. However the differences were not statistically significant. 4. In comparison of proportionality of anterior temporal muscle to masseter muscle activity on left side, posterior border position was the greatest followed by myocentric position, taping position, chewing position and maximum intercuspation. And the proportionality of posterior border position was greater than that of maximum intercuspation. (P<.05). 5. In comparison of proportionality of anterior temporal muscle to masseter muscle activity on right side, myocentric position was the greatest followed by posterior border position, tapping position, maximum intercuspation and chewing position. However the differences were not statistically significant.

  • In this paper, we deal with a precise position synchronous control of four-axes system which is working under various load disturbances. Each axis driving system is consisted of a speed controller and an acceleration controller as an inner loop instead of conventional current control scheme. The acceleration control plays an important roll to suppress load disturbances quickly. Also, each axis is coupled by a maximum position synchronous error comparison to minimize position synchronous errors according to integration of speed differency. As a result, the proposed system enables precise synchronous control with good robustness against load disturbances during transient as well as steady state. The stability and robustness of the proposed system are investigated through its frequency characteristic and numerical simulations. Finally, experimental results under load disturbances demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control system fur four-axes position synchronous control.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the healthcare status of South Korea and other member countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) using OECD health statistics 2020. We employed the position value for relative comparison index to measure the healthcare status in five following components: demand, supply, accessibility, quality, and cost. The Mann-Kendall test was used to analyze for increasing or decreasing trend of the position value for relative comparison values from 2000 to the recent year. Results showed that Korea was positioned above than the OECD median values in most of components, but lower than the median values in certain indices including healthcare employment, primary care, and mental health care. This study sheds some light on healthcare issues to be improved and the policy-makes can take into account for prior setting process.

  • Purpose: This study examined the effects of e position change upon reported discomfort and bleeding complications during bed rest following a liver biopsy. Methods: The research design for this study was a non-equivalent control group quasi-experimental design. Twenty-nine participants were assigned to the treatment group and twenty seven participants were in the comparison group. Following the biopsy, the treatment group participants had a position change from the supine without compression for two hours followed by compressive right lateral position for two hours. The comparison group maintained continuously the compressive right lateral position with sandbag for four hours. Results: There were statistically significant differences in reported discomfort between the treatment and comparison groups following the intervention. No significant differences were found in bleeding complications between the two groups. Conclusion: The results of the study suggest that the positional change is an effective nursing intervention in reducing discomfort without risk of bleeding following a liver biopsy.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to compare the respiratory function in the different body position of the stroke patients. Methods : Twenty patients with stroke patients group(M:12, F:8) and twenty control group(M:12, F:8) were participated in experiment. Strokes patients group and control group were assessed according to position changes(supine position, $45^{\circ}$ sitting position, $90^{\circ}$ sitting position) using pulmonary function(vital capacity, inspiratory capacity, tidal volume, expiratory reserve volume, inspiratory reserve volume). Results : These findings suggest that supine position in stroke group and control group were significant difference in IC, VC, IRV, ERV(p<.05). $45^{\circ}$ lean sitting position in stroke group and control group were significant difference in IC, VC, ERV(p<.05). 90 sitting position in stroke group and control group were significant difference in VC, IRV, ERV(p<.05). In comparison of two groups, strokes group was more low pulmonary function than normal group. Conclusion : This study showed pulmonary function was more high normal groups than stroke groups. And $90^{\circ}$ sitting position was high pulmonary function than supine position, $45^{\circ}$ lean sitting position. Thus it indicates that the functions will be suggest the objective data of patients with strokes for respiratory function.
