  • The pur[pose of this study is to investigate the research method and to provide a guide to the ways in which researcher, interested in costume history, can obtain in formation. There are comparison, induction, observation, awnalysis, experience and synthesis in method of science. Firstly, comparative research is to ascertain the accumulated evidence. Secondly, we can compare with historical phenomenon. A research intend to verify the hypothesis based upon the sources of information. It is an available method to investigate the costumes and adornments in the past. Whatever the approach, the researcher much discribe the facts objectively. Historical research has been approached in many warys in the field of costume. There are visual and documentary sources. Visual sources are paintings, sculptutre, frescoes, coins, potteries, medals, mosaics, wall paintings, stained glasses, seals, tapestries, illustrations, photographs, movies, and fashion dolls. Documentary sources are archives, letters, diaries, literature, wardrobe accounts, sumpturary laws, newspapers, and recollections.

  • Inspection and analysis are essential process to determine whether a completed product is in given specification or not. Analysis of products with very complicated shape is difficult to carry out direct comparison between inspected coordinate and designed coordinates. So process called as matching or registrations is needed to solve this problem. By defining error between two coordinates and minimizing the error, registration is done. Registration consists of translation, rotation and scale transformations. Error must be defined to express feature of inspected product. In this paper, registration algorithm is developed to determine pose of sub-frame at assembly with body of automobile by defining error between two coordinates considering geometric feature of sub-frame.

  • The breaking of a circuit in DC grid could pose a challenge because of the absence of zero-crossing instant for both current and voltage when a fault occurs. An additional fault current limiting function will be very helpful for reducing the burden of the DC circuit breaker by limiting the fault current to a reasonable value. In this paper, we studied the overcurrent characteristics of several HTS conductors so that we could use the selected conductors for the basic design work of a resistive type fault current limiting module as a part of the circuit breaking system. According to the short-circuit test results, we suggested and compared two different basic design parameters of the HTS fault current limiting module, which will be connected in series to the DC circuit breaker.

  • 최근 인공지능을 활용한 경혈의 위치를 추론하는 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 본 논문은 자세 추정(Pose Estimation)을 통해 경혈 검출을 위한 두 가지 접근법인 Top down 방식과 Bottom up 방식의 추론 결과를 비교함으로써 어떤 방식이 경혈의 위치를 추론하기에 더 적합한 지 알아보고자 한다.

  • This paper presents a natural corners-based SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) with a robust data association algorithm in a real unknown environment. Corners are extracted from raw laser sensor data, which are chosen as landmarks for correcting the pose of mobile robot and building the map. In the proposed data association method, the extracted corners in every step are separated into several groups with small numbers of corners. In each group, local best matching vector between new corners and stored ones is found by joint compatibility, while nearest feature for every new corner is checked by individual compatibility. All these groups with local best matching vector and nearest feature candidate of each new corner are combined by partial compatibility with linear matching time. Finally, SLAM experiment results in an indoor environment based on the extracted corners show good robustness and low computation complexity of the proposed algorithms in comparison with existing methods.

  • The Global Positioning System (GPS) is widely used to aid the navigation of aerial vehicles. However, the GPS cannot be used indoors, so alternative navigation methods are needed to be developed for micro aerial vehicles (MAVs) flying in GPS-denied environments. In this paper, a real-time three-dimensional (3-D) indoor navigation system and closed-loop control of a quad-rotor aerial vehicle equipped with an inertial measurement unit (IMU) and a low-cost light detection and ranging (LIDAR) is presented. In order to estimate the pose of the vehicle equipped with the two-dimensional LIDAR, an octree-based grid map and Monte-Carlo Localization (MCL) are adopted. The navigation results using the MCL are then evaluated by making a comparison with a motion capture system. Finally, the results are used for closed-loop control in order to validate its positioning accuracy during procedures for stable hovering and waypoint-following.

Analysis of Hierarchical Competition Structure and Pricing Strategy in the Hotel Industry

  • This study aims to investigate the effects of market commonality and resource similarity on price competition and the recursive consequences in the Korean lodging market. Price comparison among hotels in the same geographic market has been facilitated through the development of information technology, rendering little search cost of consumers. While the literature implies the heterogeneous price attack and response among hotels, a limited number of empirical researches focus on the asymmetric and recursive pattern in the competitive dynamics. This study empirically examines the price interactions in the Korean lodging market based on the theoretical framework of competitive price interactions and countervailing power. Demonstrating superiority to the spatial lag model and the ordinary least squares in the estimation, the results from spatial error model suggest that the hotels with longer operational history pose an asymmetric impact on the price of the newer hotels. The asymmetry is also found in chain hotels over the independent, further implying the possibility of predatory pricing. The findings of this study provide the evidence of a hierarchical structure in the price competition, with different countervailing power by the resources of the hotels. Theoretical and managerial implications are discussed, with suggestions for future study.

Behavior of Grouted Bolts in Consideration of Seepage Forces (침투수력을 고려한 전면접착형 록볼트의 거동연구)

  • In a NATM tunnel, fully grouted bolts are widely used as part of supporting system. Grouted bolts play an important role not as to take some parts of load acting on a tunnel lining but as to reinforce the ground adjacent the tunnel. In conjunction with tunnel construction, the presence of groundwater may pose a number of difficulties. With respect to tunnel design, influences of groundwater on tunnel behavior have been considered in many aspects. However, the effect on grouted bolts has been rarely investigated. In this study, the behavior of grouted bolts, which are affected by the seepage forces, was examined. To investigate the effects of seepage forces, the theoretical solutions for a drained condition were also found. Based on the theoretical solutions, ground reaction curves considering seepage forces were obtained. By comparing the ground reaction curves supported by grouted bolts with those for the unsupported cases, the effect of reinforcement was evaluated. Finally, through comparison between supported ground reaction curves in the drained condition and those in the case of groundwater flow, it was found that the grouted bolts are more structurely beneficial when the seepage occurs towards the tunnel than when there is no groundwater flow.

3D Model Retrieval based on Spherical Coordinate System (구면좌표계 기반에서 3차원 모델 검색)

  • In this paper, we propose a new algorithm for 3D model retrieval based on spherical coordinate system. We obtains sample points in a polygons on 3D model. We convert a point in cartesian coordinates(x, y, z) to it in spherical coordinate. 3D shape features are achieved by adopting distribution of zenith of sample point in spherical coordinate. We used Osada's method for obtaining sample points on 3D model and the PCA method for the pose standardization 3D model. Princeton university's benchmark data was used for this research. Experimental results numerically show the precision improvement of proposed algorithm 12.6% in comparison with Vranic's depth buffer-based feature vector algorithm.

PVDF-TiO2 coated microfiltration membranes: preparation and characterization

  • Organic fouling and biofouling pose a significant challenge to the membrane filtration process. Photocatalysis-membrane hybrid system is a novel idea for reducing these membranes fouling however, when $TiO_2 photocatalyst nanoparticles are used in suspension, catalyst recovery is not only imposes an extra step on the process but also significantly contributes to increased membrane resistance and reduced permeate flux. In this study, $TiO_2$ photocatalyst has been immobilized by coating on the microfiltration (MF) membrane surface to minimize organic and microbial fouling. Nano-sized $TiO_2$ was first synthesized by a sol-gel method. The synthesized $TiO_2$ was coated on a Poly Vinyl Difluoride (PVDF) membrane (MF) surface using spray coating and dip coating techniques to obtain hybrid functional composite membrane. The characteristics of the synthesized photocatalyst and a functional composite membrane were studied using numerous instruments in terms of physical, chemical and electrical properties. In comparison to the clean PVDF membrane, the $TiO_2$ coated MF membrane was found more effective in removing methylene blue (20%) and E-coli (99%).
