  • We suggest AKL(abstract kernel layer) to. the design and implementation of WAP on basis of multi-platform. AKL is running on the various kernel including REX, MS-DOS, MS-Windows, UNIX and LINUX. For the purpose of it, AKL makes machine-dependant features be minimized and supports a consistent interface on API(application program interface) point of views. Therefore, It makes porting times of a device be shorten and makes easy of maintenance. We validated our suggestion as a consequent of porting WAP into PalmV PDA and mobile phone with AKL.

  • As control programs are becoming larger and more complex, the capacity of a microprocessor in a TV set needs to have a CPU with 32 bits or more. Also the embedded system such like a digital TV set uses RTOS (Real Time Operating System)[1]. LGE Co. has developed a digital TV system that displays HD (High definition) signal with the AR7TDMI CPU and the commercial RTOS[2]. This thesis made improvements on problems caused by porting embedded LiNUX in limited size memory (2 mega byte) instead of RTOS[3]. The advantages of changing to embedded LiNUX take away running OS royalty that needed to make TV sets[4].

  • Application specific instruction-set processor (ASIP) is a suitable design choice for system designers who seek both flexibility to handle various applications in the domain together with the performance. Successful development of an ASIP, however, requires a software development kit (SDK) to be provided along with the processor. Synopsys Processor Designer is an ASIP development tool, which takes as input a set of files written in a high-level architecture description language called LISA (Language for Instruction Set Architecture), and generates SDK as well as RTL. Recently, they have added support for the generation of LLVM compiler backend, though some manual work is required. In this paper, we introduce some details in porting LLVM compiler to a custom processor architecture in Synopsys Processor Designer.

  • Android platform is a powerful operating system developed on Linux 2.6 Kernel, and provides many features such as comprehensive libraries, a multimedia environment, and powerful interface for phone applications. Since Android is an open operating system, which can be installed in any vendors's equipments. Current smartphones as well as netbooks, navigations, car PCs, tablet PCs, Industrial PCs are used in various fields. It is difficult a lot that to mount to other devices on the Android platform or new devices. In this Paper, The process that data that occurred from a hardware was passed to the highest application and Android platform system for managing hardware devices were analyzed. Building Android & driver compilation environment, How to support the protocol for the use of WiFi in the kernel, How to Mount a WiFi device in the kernel, Device driver registration for the Android platform, WiFi Management Service Daemon (wpa_supplicant) and IP allocation services daemon (dhcpcd) registration, How to create a socket for communication between the daemon (wpa_supplicant) and HAL have been presented. In the experiment using the proposed method, WiFi devices were mounted on the Android platform in the X-86 & ARM family. Understanding the whole process of control flow in Android hierarchy is very important to porting a new device on it. The process included in this paper can help technicians who might encounter the obstacles in their porting works.

  • A new hardware architecture achieves high speed, high precision fuzzy inference capabilities while maintaining Flexibility on par with software approaches. This flexibility allows unmodified, uncompromised porting of fuzzy system designs into hardware. The architecture is also scalable and offers data resolutions from 8 bits to 32 bits.

  • In this paper, we propose an implementation of a real-time operating system for the two-wheel mobile robot. With this implementation, we have the ability to control the complex embedded systems of the two-wheel mobile robot. The advantage of the real-time operating system is increasing the reliability and stability of the two-wheel mobile robot when they work in critical environments such as military and industrial applications. The real-time operating system which was ported to this implementation is open systems and the corresponding interfaces for automotive electronics (OSEK/VDX). It is known as the set of specifications on automotive operating systems, published by a consortium founded by the automotive industry. The mechanical design and kinematics of the two-wheel mobile robot are described in this paper. The contributions of this paper suggest a method for adapting and porting OSEK/VDX real-time operating system to the two-wheel mobile robot with the differential drive method, and we are also able to apply the real-time operating system to any complex embedded system easily.

  • This study intended to demonstrate a general system as an web server implemented by pure software solution and focused on collecting data by remote control through Internet and constructing its' control frame. To achieve these, this study suggested an optimized, low-power, ultra tiny embedded web server. When unpredictable accidents, such as heat sensor or industrial disasters, happen, it will connect sensors collecting building information each other by network and obtain final results via web porting, web hardware control or porting, or hardware test process in a boot loader on the basis of StrongARM SA-1110 processor.

  • Linux is the one of various RTOS, also embedded linux has being studied with focus on technical stability and commercial utilities. In this paper, the technical trial was discussed on the development of real-time operating system that provides real time capability and extends the network communications ability and would be applied to the maritime mobile communication system through analysis the embedded linux kernel. Some techniques for Analyzing the embedded linux kernel and designing the target board, making the kernel image and porting the kernel are summarized in this paper.

  • In this paper, we describe the issues associated with implementing embedded Linux system. As an example of embedded system, a router which utilizes the powerful networking capability of Linux is implemented and the details of porting Linux to the dedicated hardware is discussed. Several efficient methods to avoid performance degradation resulted from porting lap top computer oriented Linux to embedded system are suggested. To verify the eligibility of the method to embed Linux into standalone system and to see the performance of the implemented router, comparison data with one of the most popular routers is presented.
