TOPSIS를 이용한 부산항과 상해항의 터미널 경쟁력에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Competitiveness of Terminals in Busan and Shanghai Ports using TOPSIS)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 먼저 문헌조사를 통해 항만의 경쟁력에 영향을 미치는 요인에 대해 분석하고, 둘째, 부산항과 상하이항의 터미널별 경쟁력을 TOPSIS 이론을 바탕으로 분석하여 비교한다. 마지막으로 분석결과를 바탕으로 부산항의 항만경쟁력 제고 방안을 마련한다. 분석결과, 물동량 요인의 경쟁력은 상하이항의 SMCT, SGICT가 부산항의 터미널에 비해 높은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 항만시설 요인과 재무적 요인은 각각 상하이항의 SMCT와 SSICT가 가장 경쟁력이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 종합적인 경쟁력은 상하이항(SSICT, SMCT 및 SGICT) 이 부산항 컨테이너 터미널에 비해 높은 것으로 나타났다. 특히 SSICT는 종합적인 경쟁력이 가장 높은 터미널로 이 연구에서 분석되었고, 항만시설 요인과 재무적 요인에서 각각 가장 높은 경쟁력을 보였다. 상하이항의 SMCT는 물동량 요인에서 가장 경쟁력이 있는 터미널로 분석되었다. 이러한 연구의 결과는 환적항 및 국제물류 거점항으로서 국제적인 지위도 낮아지고, 경쟁 국제항만에 비하여 최근의 성장세도 주춤한 상황에 놓여있는 부산항의 정책에 주요 시사점을 준다.

  • For a nearly decade Busan has been the pre-dominant force in Northeast Asian port community, but during the last couple of years, several competitors have looked to directly challenge Busan's regional dominance, most notably, northern Chinese ports. Faced with this challenging and formidable trend, Busan has had to respond appropriately to ensure that Busan remains a regional hub well into the 21st century. The aim of this paper is to make some considerations for a regional hub container port in Northeast Asia in response to changes in the shipping industry with particular reference to Korea.

A Study on the Identification of Key Role Players in Enhancing Port Competitiveness - Focused on Busan Port -

  • The analytical hierarchy process (AHP) enables decision makers to represent the interaction of multiple factors in complex and unstructured situations. The process requires the decision maker to develop a hierarchical structure of the factors in the given problem and to provide judgments about the relative importance of each of these factors and ultimately to specify a preference for each decision alternative with respect to each factor. The research presented in this paper applies the AHP to identify key players in promoting port competitiveness. The literature survey revealed four major criteria and 15 sub-criteria. The four factors are cost, service quality, facility/capacity and economic-social variable. 150 questionnaires suitable for AHP analysis were made and 77 were returned. It is found that in terms of cost, the first key player is terminal operator and the second key player is shipping companies calling Busan port; in terms of service quality, the first key player is terminal operator, and the second key player is shipping companies calling Busan port; in terms of facility/capacity, the first key player is port authority and the second key player is terminal operator; in terms of economic-social variable, the first key player is terminal operator, and the second key player is shipping companies calling Busan port.

Location Selection Factors for International Distribution Center in Port Hinterland - A Review of Busan New Port Hinterland from User's Perspective -

  • As port functions change to act as an economic catalyst and take on a central position in industries engaged in international trade, port hinterland has become a significant component in international shipping. The success of port hinterland as a strategic base of logistic activities critically depends on location selection factor for international distribution center that links elements of global supply chain management. By examining multi-measurement items empirically, this paper analyzed location selection factor for international logistics distribution center in port hinterland, and evaluated Busan new port hinterland from the user's perspective. Employing exploratory factor analysis, the results revealed that the model structured around five factors incorporating geo-location and accessibility, availability, political supports, cost factors, and quality of business environment is valid and reliable in the context of the location selection factors for logistics distribution center in the context of port hinterland operations. The evaluation of Busan new port hinterland provides useful insights for strategic improvement to accommodate the users' expectation. Further, the model offers both a descriptive and diagnostic strategic management tool for port hinterland development and operations, to guide future improvement.

수출입 화물 특성과 무역관문의 위상에서 본 부산항의 변화, 1991~2010년 (A Study on the Changes in Characteristics of Trade Freights and the Status as a Gateway of Busan Port between 1991 and 2010)

  • 부산항은 개항 이래 지금까지 우리나라의 가장 중요한 무역관문 기능을 수행해 왔다. 하지만 1990년대 이후 중국의 세계경제 편입과 급속한 무역구조 변화에 따라 우리나라 무역관문체계는 큰 변화를 겪었으며 수출입 관문으로서 부산항의 위상에도 많은 변화가 있었다. 부산항은 지난 20년 동안 대일, 대미 무역에서의 역할은 상대적으로 더욱 중요해진 반면, 대중국 교역에서의 기여도는 오히려 감소하고 있다. 또한 주요 화물품목별 교역에서도 수출입 관문으로서 부산항의 경쟁력은 지속적으로 저하되는 추세이다. 이러한 현상은 수출입 공급사슬의 효율성을 제고하기 위해 무역관문간 경쟁이 심화되는 현실이 반영된 것이다. 특정 항만의 취급 화물 특성과 그 변화를 분석하는 노력은 항만을 배후지와 지향지의 핵심 연결고리로 이해했던 지리학의 연구전통에 부합하는 것이며, 오늘날 국제물류 현상의 역동적인 변화를 분석함에 있어 매우 유용한 연구방법이다.

  • In this study, a qualitative evaluation of the morphological changes in the seabed surrounding Jinwoo-Island due to the construction of the new Busan port were determined through a numerical simulation. Various scenarios for the discharge of the Nakdong river estuary dam and construction stage of the new Busan port were established and utilized for an indirect and qualitative investigation through simulation using the numerical model implemented in this study. It was concluded through a qualitative study that the morphological changes in the seabed surrounding Jinwoo-Island were typical estuary seabed changes due to the discharge of the Nakdong river estuary dam and waves from the open sea. The effects from the construction of the new Busan port were relatively small.

  • 부산항 북항의 재개발은 21세기 비전에 비추어 부두운영회사제의 지속적인 발전, 부산 신항 개발과의 연계, 국제 여객 및 크루즈부두의 개발과 터미널의 신축 등 기존에 존재하고 있는 문제점을 해소하기 위한 부산항 북항 일반부두의 종합적인 정비 및 방향을 모색하는 데 있다. 하지만 TOC 업체 계약, 피더부두 대체시설 부족, 환적화물 유치에 미칠 악영향, 그리고 항만 근로자 문제 둥 현실적인 해법을 제시하기에는 여러 측면에서 한계를 내포하고 있다. 따라서 본 논문은 이러한 한계로 인한 문제점과 해결의 필요성에 대한 인식에 기초하여 항만 개발 및 운영과 관련한 각종 애로요인 분석, 재개발 방향 설정, 나아가 바람직한 항만 재개발 및 대체 확보에 대한 대안 제시 등에 관하여 고찰하고자 한다.

선박의 연속적 접⋅이안이 항내 해수순환에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Consecutive Ship Docking and Undocking on Seawater Circulation in Harbor)

  • In this study, the model developed by Hong (2012) was modified to describe the consecutive docking/undocking situation and was also applied to investigate the effect on seawater circulation in Busan port by consecutive docking/undocking at the connecting bridge of Busan port. Numerical experiments for various docking/undocking cases were performed by dumping the initial concentration within Busan Port and indicated that the concentration in Busan port becomes steady state without numerical wiggles after sufficient time (at least 20 or 30 days). In addition, it was found that the seawater circulation under ship docking was slightly reduced in comparison with that under ship undocking, and the approach time to the target concentration under all the docking cases increased in comparison with the undocking case.

The Eligibility of Busan Port as A Hub Port in North East Asia

  • Many countries in the North East Asia are competing with each other in order to become a centre of international logistics activities. The competition to become a hub port in Far East region is now fierce. The anticipated investments on improving port facilities and attracting the mega carriers are immense for all the ports in the region and the extent of the effort could cripple the local ports and region's economy given the limited financial resources. It is, however, impossible to avoid the disastrous possibility that the massive investments could be channeled into the port, which will never become a hub port, as no port is ready to currently admit defeat and settle as a small regional port. In an attempt to minimise such disastrous waste of resources, ports need to verify the eligibility of their own. This paper tests a system dynamics model using the Port of Busan to understand and illustrate the principle guideline of investment decision making for ports.

부산 '신항'과 광양항의 특성 비교분석 및 발전전략 (Comparative Analysis on The Features of Busan New Port and Gwangyang Port, and their development Strategies)

  • Major companies in USA, Europe and Japan as well as even China and Russia put more overseas investment in Asian regions than before, while northeast Asian regional trade gets more attractive and important under the influence of China's super-speed economic growth. Possibly, it is expected that such ever-increasing gravity of regional trade will help spotlight the importance of local trade route considerably. In particular, northeast Asian region's economic briskness and step-up in international economic partnerships will expectedly contribute to much boosting up the quantity of goods transported via local coasting route. Thus, it is advisable that both Busan New port specialize in dealing with freights via East Sea rim, while Gwangyang port specialize in dealing with freights via Yellow Sea rim. Furthermore, it is required that both ports share some of their own roles as hub port and hub & spoke port respectively, so that both of them can be devoted to stepping up into northeast Asian hub ports.
