Performance-measure of the domestic web site design (국내 웹 사이트 디자인의 행동적 사용성 측정)

  • The present study employed an experimental usability testing technique to explore cognitive engineering characteristics of WWW. Based on the results of our previous study which employed non-experimental methods such as questionnaire and heuristic evaluation method, this study used a behavioral performance-measurement technique to evaluate the usability of a domestic web-site design. Specifically, we revised the menu and document structure of the original 'Movie-Friend' site to solve the design problems which were extracted from the results of the heuristic evaluation method of our previous study. Exp. 1 compared the relative navigation efficiency of the original frame menu site and the revised pop-up toolbar site, and Exp. 2 compared the toolbar menu site and the revised frame site. As a result of Exp. 1, the revised pop-up toolbar site showed improved navigation efficiency compared to the original site, as indicated by the mean latency and the number of pathways to reach the target page. However, we found no performance difference between the frame site and toolbar site in Exp. 2.

  • An important factor in eye-tracking PC interface for general paralyzed patients is the implementation of the mouse interface, for manipulating the GUI. With a successfully implemented mouse interface, users can generate mouse events exactly at the point of their choosing. However, it is difficult to define this interaction in the eye-tracking interface. This problem has been defined as the Midas touch problem and has been a major focus of eye-tracking research. There have been many attempts to solve this problem using blink, voice input, etc. However, it was not suitable for general paralyzed patients because some of them cannot wink or speak. In this paper, we propose a mouth-pop-up, eye-tracking mouse interface that solves the Midas touch problem as well as becoming a suitable interface for general paralyzed patients using a common RGB camera. The interface presented in this paper implements a mouse interface that detects the opening and closing of the mouth to activate a pop-up menu that the user can select the mouse event. After implementation, a performance experiment was conducted. As a result, we found that the number of malfunctions and the time to perform tasks were reduced compared to the existing method.

  • The present study is aimed to develop a new PIV operating software through optimization of vector tracking identification including versatile pre-processings and post-processing techniques. And the result exhibits an improved version corresponding various input and output multimedia compared to previous commercial software developed by other makers. An upgraded identification method called grey-level cross correlation coefficient method by direct calculation is suggested and related user-friendly pop-up menu are also represented. Post-processings comprising turbulence statistics are also introduced with graphic output functions.

Development and Evaluation of a Legal Communicable Disease Electronic System for Infection Control (법정전염병 감염관리를 위한 정보시스템 개발 및 효과)

  • Purpose: The objective of the present study was to develop and evaluate a legal communicable diseases (LCDs) electronic system for infection control. Method: The system was developed through the procedure of analysis, design, implementation, application and evaluation, and was applied within an OCS (order communication system). Results: As indicated by the main menu, the present system is composed of an improved perception system for enhancing perception of LCDs, LCDs identification system, and improved efficiency in the report system. Detailed items included in the main menu are introduction and log-in screen, pop-up window for checking the outbreaks of LCDs, decision making icon, electronic signature icon, electronic report form, email system, etc. The total number of reports was greater after the application of the system (n=99) than before (n=80), and the adequacy of report time was statistically significantly higher after application of the system (P<0.05) Conclusion: The present system suggests a new method for LCDs report and infection control, and is expected to be adopted by other medical institutions in the future.

Development of the Measuring System for Automation of Hydroponics (수경재배 자동화를 위한 계측시스템의 개발)

  • The measuring system was developed for automation of hydroponic culture. It runs in Windows 3.1 and 95. Main window contains greenhouse screen and menu bars such as system setting, sensor calibration, greenhouse status, actuator control, file management, view, and help. Users can use pop-up menu, tool bar and status bat as well as menu bar for manipulation. Especially it was designed to retain flexibility for researchers, who changed detecting sensors frequently. Users can change storage intervals of files, of which 3 types were prepared to use in other software like as statistical programs, graphic programs and/or spread sheets. This system was adopted to deep flow culture system and evaluated to be appropriate for any kind of hydroponic systems.

  • S/W의 구성은 기능을 실제로 수행하는 계산처리부와 사용자와 정보를 주고받는 User Interface부로 크게 나누어 볼 수 있다. 대부분의 S/W는 그 기능의 충실도와 아울러 편리한 사용법이 잘 어울려야 제역할을 할 수 있다. 따라서 편리한 User Interface를 만드는 일은 훌륭한 기능을 제공하는 것과 마찬가지로 S/W 개발자들이 지향해야 할 목표중 하나라 하겠다. 그러나 편리한 User Interface를 만드는 일은 전체 시스템개발 기간중 상당한 부분을 차지한다. 특히 CAD/CAM관련 S/W와 같이 사용자와 정보를 Graphic으로 주고받는 경우에는 User Interface의 구성이 더욱 더 어려워지며, 개발기간중 User Interace가 차지하는 비중은 더욱 커지게 된다. GUI는 최근들어 상당히 각광을 받고 있는 분야이며, 상당수의 GUI가 개발되어 있고, 이중 Unix용의 X-Window MS-DOS용의 MS-WINDOWS 3.0이 널리 사용되고 있다. 그러나 이러한 Window System들은 매우 다양한 기능을 제공하고 있음에도 불구하고, GUI자체의 덩치가 매우크고, S/W개발자가 익혀야하는 내용이 너무 복잡하여, 중/소형의 S/W개발에 사용하기에는 적합하지 않다. 본 연구에서는 GUI(Graphic User Interface)부분을 계산처리부와 완전분리하여, 범용성있는 개발용 Tool Kit을 구성함으로써 S/W개발자는 계산처리부만을 만들면되는 방안을 제시하고 있다. GS-GUI는 Menu처리부, Mouse/Keyboard입력처리부, Text/Graphic출력처리부로 나뉘어진다. Menu처리부는 Menu File로 주어지는 Menu Tree를 Pop-Up형태로 보여주며 User가 Menu를 선택할 수 있도록하며 선택된 Menu Item에 대한 Action Code를 계산처리부로 넘겨준다. 입력처리부에서는 Mouse와 Keyboard 어느것으로나 입력이 가능하도록 해준다. 출력처리부에서는 Action Code에 따라 계산처리부에서 계산된 결과를 화면에 보여주기 위한 각종 2D/3D Graphic Routine들이 포함되어있어 계산처리부에서 불러쓰도록 되어있다.

Analysis on the Information Flows and Representations of User-OPACs Interfaces. (이용자-OPACs접속의 정보 흐름과 표현의 분석)

  • The main objective of this study is to analyse the information flows and representations which is shown at the displays of the user-OPACs interfaces in the 5 academic library automation systems. The findings made in the study are summarized as follows: 1) The interactive styles of that displays are based on the menu selection style. 2) The structures of information flow on that displays are the compound structure which is basically made of the network, the binary, and the pop-up structures. 3) The elements of the displays are consisted with the fields concerning the database name, the current working area, the indicator, the menu, the exit, the prompt and the system message. 4) The essential entries of the main menus are Book, Periodical. and Thesis. 5) The important languages of the command language styles are Search, Display, Print, Help, and End. 6) The elements of the display structures for the retrieval are the retrieving key, the Boolean operators, and the exit. 7) The major retrieving keys are Title, Author, Subject name, Call Number, and Publisher. 8) The marks of Boolean operators on the retrieval displays is different among the systems each other.

  • 대부분의 관제사들은 매일 다루고 있는 콘솔에 불편한 느끼는 일이 많다. 하지만 이러한 관제사들의 생각이 VTS 시스템 개발에 반영되지 못하고 있는 것도 사실이다. 현재 개발 중에 있는 u-VTS(차세대 한국형VTS)에 관제사들의 현장 경험을 접목시키는 것이 중요하다. 본 연구는 유저 인터페이스에 대해서 알아보고, 관제사의 상황자각 및 의사결정에 실질적인 도움을 줄 수 있는 방향으로 운영자 콘솔의 유저 인터페이스가 개선되도록 하는데 초점을 두었다.

Manipulation of the Windows Interface Based on Haptic Feedback (촉각 기반 윈도우 인터페이스)

  • In this paper, we suggest a haptic interface and a framework of interaction with haptic feedback based Windows graphical user interface (GUI) in a computing device with touch screen. The events that occur during a user interacts with Windows interfaces through a touch screen are filtered out by the Windows Interface Message Filter (WIMF) and converted into appropriate haptic feedback information by the Haptic Information Provider (HIP). The haptic information are conveyed to users through a stylus-like haptic interface interacting with a touch screen. Major Windows interaction schemes including button click, menu selection/pop-up, window selection/movement, icon selection/drag & drop and scroll have been implemented and user tests show the improved usability since the haptic feedback helps intuition and precise manipulation.

철의장 설계 전산 개발/적용

  • 선박에 있어서 철의장품은 종류와 수량이 다양하고 형상이 불규칙하여 대부분의 사업장에서 설계 전산화가 이루어지지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 의장설계실에서는 이를 전산화하기 위하여 먼저 철의장품의 표준을 제정 및 극대화하고 설계작업절차와 물량의 흐름을 전산과 연계하여 체계화 및 표준화하였다. 또한 선박의 전구역에 설치되는 철의장품들을 관련 양식과 함께 국제표준을 근거로 BASICA CADDS, SURFACE DESING, SDDP(structural Design & Detailing Package) SOFTWARE를 이용하여 2차원(2-dimension) 및 3차원(3-dimension) 데이터베이스(database)화 하였으며 이를 POP-UP MENU를 이용, 쉽게 선택함으로써 모델링(modeling) 작업시수를 대폭 감소 시켰으며, 그래픽(graphic)에서 추출한 의장품의 데이터(data)를 의장품의 표준정보 FILE과 연계하여 라벨(LABEL) 및 치수(DIMENSION)를 기입하여 배치도를 추출하고 의장품의 제작, 설치, 계산 및 관리에 소요되는 설치도, 제작도 및 관련 보고서인 BOM(bill of material), PML(pallet material list), 의장제작품 LIST, COG(center of gravity), 관리점 등을 자동추출 및 관리전산망(PC-lan)과 연계할 수 있는 DECOM(철의장 전산설계 전용 package)을 89년에 개 발하여 의장설계에 적용하여 왔으며 ORACLE사의 RDBMS(relational database management system)를 도입하여 이를 보완하므로써 정보의 일관화 및 공유화가 가능하게 되었다. 그 결과 설계 M/H절감, 생산성 향상, 자재 및 관련 정보 전달에 혁신적인 변화 향상을 가져오게 되었다.
