  • Cefuroxime axetil, a broad spectrum antibiotic, has been known to form a gelatinous mass in contact with aqueous media, which could lead to poor dissolution. Therefore, this study was conducted for removing the gelling phenomenon and thereby obtaining a favorable dissolution profile. We have found that the addition of poly (methacrylic acid, methyl methacrylate) could not only inhibit the tendency of cefuroxime axetil to form a gel but also showed the good dissolution profile compared to the formula without poly (methacrylic acid, methyl methacrylate). • The indirect-contact ECG measurement is a newly developed method for unconstrained and nonconscious measurement in daily life. This study introduced a new method of electrode circuit design developed for reducing the 60Hz power line noise observed at the indirect-contact ECG measurement. By the introduced common-mode-driven shielding, the voltage of the electrical shield surrounding the capacitive coupling electrode is maintained at the same as the common mode voltage. Though the method cannot reduce the level of common mode voltage itself, that reduces effectively the differential mode noise converted from the common mode voltage by the difference of cloth impedance between the two capacitive coupling electrode. The experiment results using the actual indirect-contact ECG showed that the 60Hz power line noise was reduced remarkably though the reduction ratio was smaller than the expected by the theory. Especially, the reduction ratio became large for the large difference of cloth. It is expected that the introduced method is useful for reducing the power line noise under condition of poor electrical grounding.

  • STATEMENT OF PROBLEM. Poor wettability of denture relining materials may lead to retention problems and patient discomfort. PURPOSE. Purpose of this study is to compare and evaluate wettability of nine denture relining materials using contact angle measurements under air and water storage over time. MATERIAL AND METHODS. Nine denture relining materials were investigated in this study. Two heat-curing polymethyl-methacrylate(PMMA) denture base materials: Vertex RS, Lang, one self-curing polyethyl-methacrylate(PEMA) chairside reline resin: Rebase II, six silicone relining materials: Mucopren soft, Mucosoft, $Mollosil^{{R}}$ plus, Sofreliner Touch, GC $Reline^{TM}$ Ultrasoft, Silagum automix comfort were used in this experiment. Contact angles were measured using high-resolution drop shape analysis system(DSA 10-MK2, KRUESS, Germany) under three conditions(in air after setting, 1 hour water storage, and 24 hours water storage). Nine materials were classified into three groups according to material composition(Group 1: PMMA, Group 2: PEMA, Group 3: Silicone). Mean values of contact angles were compared using independent samples t-test and one-way ANOVA, followed by a Scheffe's post hoc analysis($\alpha$=0.01). RESULTS. Contact angles of materials tested after air and water storage increased in the following order: Group 1(PMMA), Group 2(PEMA), Group 3(Silicone). Heat-cured acrylic denture base resins had more wettability than silicone relining materials. Lang had the highest wettability after 24 hours of water storage. Silicone relining materials had lower wettability due to their hydrophobicity. Wettability of all denture relining materials, except Rebase II and $Mollosil^{{R}}$ plus, increased after 24 hours of water storage. CONCLUSIONS. Conventional heat-cured resin showed the highest wettability, therefore, it can be suggested that heat-cured acrylic resin is material of choice for denture relining materials.

  • Purpose - This study aims to investigate a solution to reduce the negative reactions arising from the performance of duties or the job distress of workers in the service industry, because human resource statistics regarding workers in the service sector have been unreported, while concerns regarding exposure to emotional exertion and poor working conditions have been continuously increasing. Research design, data, and methodology - This study specifically focused on workers in highway service areas. It differs from previous studies because it involves the perspective of the person-organization fit and regards workers' cognition of leaders through the psychological distance toward the leader and the contact frequency between workers and leaders within the framework of the leader-individual fit. Moreover, this study highlights the role of the self-leadership of workers as an important factor that becomes manifested in the individual-level fit to the organization. Hence, this study investigates whether the positive role of the above factors, in turn, could reduce job distress. Workers from highway service areas in Gyeonggi-do province provided data; 141 valid questionnaires are collected. SPSS 19.0 and AMOS 19.0 were used to test the reliability and validity of constructs. Simple regression, multiple regression, and 3 step mediation tests were used to test the hypotheses after the correlation tests. Results - Results indicated that leader-member contact frequency and psychological distance have negative effects on job distress but positive effects on self-leadership. A mediation test revealed that self-leadership, in the relationships between contact frequency and job distress and between psychological distance and job distress, resulted in partial mediation and full mediation, respectively. Conclusions - The result can be understood through two different possible explanations. First, service area workers generally possess a positive perspective toward their leaders. This can be interpreted to mean that increased contact frequency and psychological distance would be considered as supports from the leader, rather than intrusive controls or management schemes. Therefore, the management in highway service areas should invest efforts in increasing contact frequency as well as maximizing psychological similarities by adopting the viewpoints of workers in terms of moral and ethical management, to reduce the workers' job distress. The results relating to self-leadership also indicate that increased contact frequency must be accompanied by intentions for the effective promotion of workers' self-leadership. It also signifies the necessity of a strategic approach by leaders to induce workers to perceive "in-group"ness as suggested both by the similarity-attraction theory and by the social identity theory. In addition, the results of the mediation test of self-leadership indicate that because workers' self-leadership activates upon increased contact frequency by the leader, it should not be a means of control and should not be utilized only from the perspective of management. It is also suggested that strategies such as transfer of authority could have a positive effect in promoting the expansion of self-influence from workers.

  • This paper describes electrical fire on electric pad caused by defect of hot wires. We analyzed two type electric pad using by carbon type hot wire and magnetic shielded type hot wire. First, a carbon type hot wires electric pad is virtually impossible to connect hot wire as a method of electrical welding or soldering. In order to connect between hot wires, that has to splice carbon type material connector. If junction of hot wires was occurrence of poor connection on electric pad, it increase contact resistance on this junction point. With increasing contact resistance, junction of hot wires on electric pad generates local heating and finally leads to electrical fire. An electric pad using by a magnetic shielded type hot wire happened local heating on signal wire for sensing temperature-rise caused by applying current for magnetic shielded. With increasing local heating of signal wire, insulated coating of hot wire was melted. Finally the magnetic shielded type hot wire electric pad lead to electrical fire with breakdown between signal wire and hot wire. In this paper, we analyzed shape of damage in hot wire caused by electrical local heating and investigated fire cause on electric pad due to defect of hot wires.

  • Background: Resection rates of lung cancer are low in general and especially in countries like Nepal. Advanced stage at presentation and poor general condition of the patient are the usual causes. Materials and Methods: In this prospective observational study, one hundred cases of lung cancer who presented at the Thoracic Surgery Unit between October 2011 and October 2012 were included. Results: Those aged in the $6^{th}$ and $7^{th}$ decades together accounted for 72/100 patients. The male to female ratio was 2:1. There was a mean-$29.2{\pm}14.2$ pack yrs smoking history with only five non-smokers. Seventy-six patients presented with locally advanced disease while 21 had metastases. Only three had local disease. The average time between onset of symptoms to first contact with a doctor was $2.3{\pm}5.3$ months (range: 0-35.6 months). Average time between first contact to referral was $50.4{\pm}65.7$ days (range-0-365). Only three patients were resected, one after neo-adjuvant chemotherapy. Advanced disease was the cause of unresectability in 95 cases. One of three patients with local disease had pulmonary functions allowing the warranted resection. $N_2$ disease with $T_{1-3}$ on CT scan was found in 47. Three of these patients underwent mediastinoscopy and all confirmed uninvolved $N_2$. Conclusions: Lung resection rates in our center remain low. Late presentation leading to advanced disease and poor pulmonary reserves preclude resection in most cases. More liberal use of mediastinal staging and better assessment of pulmonary functions may allow us to improve resection rates.

  • Recently, amorphous oxides such as InGaZnO (IGZO) and InZnO (IZO) as a channel layer of an oxide TFT have been attracted by advantages such as high mobility, good uniformity, and high transparency. In order to apply such an amorphous oxide TFTs to a display, the stability in various environments must be ensured. In the InGaZnO which has been studied in the past, Ga elements act as a suppressor of oxygen vacancy and result in a decreased mobility at the same time. Previous studies have been showed that the InZnO, which does not contain Ga, can achieve high mobility, but has relatively poor stability under various instability environments. In this study, the TFTs using $IZO/Al_2O_3$ double layer structure were studied. The introduction of an $Al_2O_3$ interlayer between source/drain and channel causes superior electrical characteristics and electrical stability as well as reduced contact resistance with optimally perfect ohmic contact. For the IZO and $Al_2O_3$ bilayer structures, the IZO 30nm IZO channels were prepared at $Ar:O_2=30:1$ by sputtering and the $Al_2O_3$ interlayer were depostied with various thickness by ALD at $150^{\circ}C$. The optimal sample exhibits considerably good TFT performance with $V_{th}$ of -3.3V and field effect mobility of $19.25cm^2/Vs$, and reduced $V_{th}$ shift under positive bias stress stability, compared to conventional IZO TFT. The enhanced TFT performances are closely related to the nice ohmic contact properties coming from the defect passivation of the IZO surface inducing charge traps, and we will provide the detail mechanism and model via electrical analysis and transmission line method.

  • An infection after total knee arthroplasty has many complications such as severe bone defect, skin and soft tissue problems, devastated general condition, so arthrodesis is preferred as treatment option. However, poor bony contact due to severe bone defect and inadequate conditions of the soft tissue often cause nonunion or severe limb shortening after arthrodesis. More over these conditions, it is not easy to choose appropriate fixative devices. In these situations, the arthrodesis using vascularized fibular graft can be the solution. Vascularized fibular graft (VFG) can playa role as a suitable material for the treatment of bone defects. And VFG can overcome poor blood circulation caused by scar tissues, and can be relatively more durable and adequate length. In the long term, VFG can be hypertrophied by weight bearing, and will give mechanical stablility. The purpose of the paper is to report the successful results of arthrodesis using VFG in a patient who got extensive bone defect after failed revision total knee arthroplasty with infection.

  • The aim of this study was to retrospectively estimate the prevalence of childhood emotional abuse (CEA), childhood physical abuse (CPA), and childhood contact sexual abuse (CCSA) in relation to adult poor mental health, addictive behavior, and other health-risk behaviors among university students in five ASEAN countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam). In a cross-sectional survey, 3,240 undergraduate university students were randomly selected (M age = 20.5 years, SD = 1.6 years) to respond to a questionnaire including the Abuse section of the World Health Organization (WHO) Version 1 "Adverse Childhood Experiences International Questionnaire" (ACE-IQ) and other measures. The students reported 17.9% CEA, 28.2% CPA, and 22.4% CCSA, with the highest prevalence of CEA in Myanmar (30.9%) and CPA and CCSA in Vietnam (55.8% and 41.6%, respectively). In logistic regression models, adjusting for sociodemographic and social variables, the separate and cumulative effects of three types of child abuse (emotional, physical, and sexual) were found to increase the risks for poor adult mental health, addictive, and other health-risk behaviors.

  • Many building foundations are embedded, however it is not easy to compact the backfill around the foundation especially for the deeply embedded ones. The soil condition around the embedded foundation may affect the seismic response of a building due to the weak contact between the soil and the foundation. In this paper, the response accelerations in the short-period range and at the period of 1 second (in the long-period range) for a seismic design spectrum specified in the IBC design code were compared considering perfect and poor backfills to investigate the effect of backfill compaction around the embedded foundation. An in-house finite-element software (P3DASS) which has the capability of horizontal pseudo-3D seismic analysis with linear soil layers was used to perform the seismic analyses of the structure-soil system with an embedded foundation. Seismic analyses were carried out with 7 bedrock earthquake records provided by the Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research Center (PEER), scaling the peak ground accelerations to 0.1 g. The results indicate that the poor backfill is not detrimental to the seismic response of a building, if the foundation is not embedded deeply in the soft soil. However, it is necessary to perform the seismic analysis for the structure-soil system embedded deeply in the soft soil to check the seismic resonance due to the soft soil layer beneath the foundation, and to compact the backfill as well as possible.
