A Study on the Application of Transfer Equipment Pooling Systems for Enhancing Productivity at Container Terminals (컨테이너터미널에서 생산성 향상을 위한 이송장비 풀링시스템 적용방안에 관한 연구)

  • Due to the increase of container terminals, as the volume of terminals become distributed, the competition of preserving existing volume and inviting new volume are becoming fierce, and various ways for processing terminal volume and inviting volume are being sought. Container terminal efforts to maximize efficiency in order to improve the volume handling capability and productivity by both expansion of the latest equipment and development of the latest terminal system. There are a variety of factors that influence the improvement of productivity at container terminals. Among them, in the case of yard transfer equipment, if it were to convert from the method of a Yard Tractor(YT) being fixed allocated to a certain Gantry Cranes(GC) to a Pooling System that processes in a method that properly distributes and allocates a Yard Tractor(YT) to multiple Gantry Cranes(GC), the terminal productivity and the fusibility of YT may be increased. The KPI which is an indicator for the productivity at container terminals is GC productivity and since GC productivity cannot exceed the speed of physical GC operations, a Pooling System is applied to increase productivity which its meaning and effect is massive. Here in the Report, we produce the Pooling Algorithm system to improve the efficiency of the transported equipments in container terminal which is actually applying for this method and have compared Non pooling system with Pooling system in the fields. By introducing a transfer equipment pooling system and enhancing the productivity compared to other terminals, it may become an essential factor for increasing the continuous service quality and profitability in terms of terminal business.

Study of Improved CNN Algorithm for Object Classification Machine Learning of Simple High Resolution Image (고해상도 단순 이미지의 객체 분류 학습모델 구현을 위한 개선된 CNN 알고리즘 연구)

  • A convolutional neural network (CNN) is a representative algorithm for implementing artificial neural networks. CNNs have improved on the issues of rapid increase in calculation amount and low object classification rates, which are associated with a conventional multi-layered fully-connected neural network (FNN). However, because of the rapid development of IT devices, the maximum resolution of images captured by current smartphone and tablet cameras has reached 108 million pixels (MP). Specifically, a traditional CNN algorithm requires a significant cost and time to learn and process simple, high-resolution images. Therefore, this study proposes an improved CNN algorithm for implementing an object classification learning model for simple, high-resolution images. The proposed method alters the adjacency matrix value of the pooling layer's max pooling operation for the CNN algorithm to reduce the high-resolution image learning model's creation time. This study implemented a learning model capable of processing 4, 8, and 12 MP high-resolution images for each altered matrix value. The performance evaluation result showed that the creation time of the learning model implemented with the proposed algorithm decreased by 36.26% for 12 MP images. Compared to the conventional model, the proposed learning model's object recognition accuracy and loss rate were less than 1%, which is within the acceptable error range. Practical verification is necessary through future studies by implementing a learning model with more varied image types and a larger amount of image data than those used in this study.

Water Segmentation Based on Morphologic and Edge-enhanced U-Net Using Sentinel-1 SAR Images (형태학적 연산과 경계추출 학습이 강화된 U-Net을 활용한 Sentinel-1 영상 기반 수체탐지)

  • Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is considered to be suitable for near real-time inundation monitoring. The distinctly different intensity between water and land makes it adequate for waterbody detection, but the intrinsic speckle noise and variable intensity of SAR images decrease the accuracy of waterbody detection. In this study, we suggest two modules, named 'morphology module' and 'edge-enhanced module', which are the combinations of pooling layers and convolutional layers, improving the accuracy of waterbody detection. The morphology module is composed of min-pooling layers and max-pooling layers, which shows the effect of morphological transformation. The edge-enhanced module is composed of convolution layers, which has the fixed weights of the traditional edge detection algorithm. After comparing the accuracy of various versions of each module for U-Net, we found that the optimal combination is the case that the morphology module of min-pooling and successive layers of min-pooling and max-pooling, and the edge-enhanced module of Scharr filter were the inputs of conv9. This morphologic and edge-enhanced U-Net improved the F1-score by 9.81% than the original U-Net. Qualitative inspection showed that our model has capability of detecting small-sized waterbody and detailed edge of water, which are the distinct advancement of the model presented in this research, compared to the original U-Net.

Morphological Object Recognition Algorithm (몰포러지 물체인식 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, a feature extraction and object recognition algorithm using only morphological operations is proposed. The morphological operations used in feature extraction are erosion and dilation, opening and closing combining erosion and dilation, and morphological edge and skeleton detection operation. In the process of recognizing an object based on features, a pooling operation is applied to reduce the dimension. Among various structuring elements, $3{\times}3$ rhombus, $3{\times}3$ square, and $5{\times}5$ circle are arbitrarily selected in morphological operation process. It has confirmed that the proposed algorithm can be applied in object recognition fields through experiments using Internet images.

Binary CNN Operation Algorithm using Bit-plane Image (비트평면 영상을 이용한 이진 CNN 연산 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we propose an algorithm to perform convolution, pooling, and ReLU operations in CNN using binary image and binary kernel. It decomposes 256 gray-scale images into 8 bit planes and uses a binary kernel consisting of -1 and 1. The convolution operation of binary image and binary kernel is performed by addition and subtraction. Logically, it is a binary operation algorithm using the XNOR and comparator. ReLU and pooling operations are performed by using XNOR and OR logic operations, respectively. Through the experiments to verify the usefulness of the proposed algorithm, We confirm that the CNN operation can be performed by converting it to binary logic operation. It is an algorithm that can implement deep running even in a system with weak computing power. It can be applied to a variety of embedded systems such as smart phones, intelligent CCTV, IoT system, and autonomous car.

  • This paper proposes a depth image generation algorithm of stereo images using a deep learning model composed of a CNN (convolutional neural network). The proposed algorithm consists of a feature extraction unit which extracts the main features of each parallax image and a depth learning unit which learns the parallax information using extracted features. First, the feature extraction unit extracts a feature map for each parallax image through the Xception module and the ASPP(Atrous spatial pyramid pooling) module, which are composed of 2D CNN layers. Then, the feature map for each parallax is accumulated in 3D form according to the time difference and the depth image is estimated after passing through the depth learning unit for learning the depth estimation weight through 3D CNN. The proposed algorithm estimates the depth of object region more accurately than other algorithms.

  • The algorithm for obtaining the isotonic regression in simple tree order, the most basic and simplest model next to the simple order, is considered. We propose to call it "Pool-the-Maximum-Violators" algorithm (PMVA) in conjunction with the "Pool-Adjacent-Violators" algorithm (PAVA) in the simple order. The dual problem of obtaining the isotonic regression in simple tree order is our main concern. An intuitively appealing relation between the primal and the dual problems is demonstrated. The interesting difference is that in simple order the required number of pooling is at least the number of initial violating pairs and any path leads to the solution, whereas in the simple tree order it is at most the number of initial violators and there is only one advisable path although there may be some others leading to the same solution.o the same solution.

  • The growing demand for the real time traffic information is bringing about the category and number of traffic collection mechanism in the era of ITS. There are, however, two problems in making data into information using various traffic data. First, the information making process of making data into the representative information, for each traffic collection mechanism, for the specified analysis periods is required. Second, the integration process of fusing each representative information into "the information" for each link out of each source is also required. That is, both data reduction and/or data to information process and information fusion are required. This article is focusing on the development of information fusing algorithm based on voting technique, fuzzy regression, and, Bayesian pooling technique for estimating the dynamic link travel time of networks. The proposed algorithm has been validated using the field experiment data out of GPS probes and detectors over the roadways and the estimated link travel time from the algorithm is proved to be more useful than the mere arithmetic mean from each traffic source.

On the Use of a Frame-Correlated HMM for Speech Recognition (Frame-Correlated HMM을 이용한 음성 인식)

  • We propose a novel method to incorporate temporal correlations into a speech recognition system based on the conventional hidden Markov model. With the proposed method using the extended logarithmic pool, we approximate a joint conditional PD by separate conditional PD's associated with respective components of conditions. We provide a constrained optimization algorithm with which we can find the optimal value for the pooling weights. The results in the experiments of speaker-independent continuous speech recognition with frame correlations show error reduction by 13.7% with the proposed methods as compared to that without frame correlations.

Dual Cycle Plan for Efficient Ship Loading and Unloading in Container Terminals (컨테이너 터미널의 효율적인 선적 작업을 위한 Dual Cycle 계획)

  • At container terminals, a major measurement of productivity can be work-efficiency in quay-side. At the apron, containers are loaded onto the ship and unloaded to apron by Q/C(Quay Crane). For improving the productivity of quay crane, the more efficient Y/T(Yard Tractor) operation method is necessary in container terminals. Between quay-side and yard area, current transferring methods is single-cycling which doesn't start loading unless it finishes unloading. Dual-cycling is a technique that can be used to improve the productivity of quay-side and utility of yard tractor by ship loading and unloading simultaneously. Using the dual-cycling at terminals only necessitates an operational change without purchasing extra equipment. Exactly, Y/T operation method has to be changed the dedicate system to pooling system. This paper presents an efficient ship loading and unloading plan in container terminals, which use the dual-cycling. We propose genetic and tabu search algorithm for this problem.
