LOCAL AND GLOBAL EXISTENCE AND BLOW-UP OF SOLUTIONS TO A POLYTROPIC FILTRATION SYSTEM WITH NONLINEAR MEMORY AND NONLINEAR BOUNDARY CONDITIONS

  • This paper deals with the behavior of positive solutions to the following nonlocal polytropic filtration system $$\{u_t=(\mid(u^{m_1})_x{\mid}^{{p_1}^{-1}}(u^{m_1})_x)_x+u^{l_{11}}{{\int_0}^a}v^{l_{12}}({\xi},t)d{\xi},\;(x,t)\;in\;[0,a]{\times}(0,T),\\{v_t=(\mid(v^{m_2})_x{\mid}^{{p_2}^{-1}}(v^{m_2})_x)_x+v^{l_{22}}{{\int_0}^a}u^{l_{21}}({\xi},t)d{\xi},\;(x,t)\;in\;[0,a]{\times}(0,T)}$$ with nonlinear boundary conditions $u_x{\mid}{_{x=0}}=0$, $u_x{\mid}{_{x=a}}=u^{q_{11}}u^{q_{12}}{\mid}{_{x=a}}$, $v_x{\mid}{_{x=0}}=0$, $v_x|{_{x=a}}=u^{q21}v^{q22}|{_{x=a}}$ and the initial data ($u_0$, $v_0$), where $m_1$, $m_2{\geq}1$, $p_1$, $p_2$ > 1, $l_{11}$, $l_{12}$, $l_{21}$, $l_{22}$, $q_{11}$, $q_{12}$, $q_{21}$, $q_{22}$ > 0. Under appropriate hypotheses, the authors establish local theory of the solutions by a regularization method and prove that the solution either exists globally or blows up in finite time by using a comparison principle.

  • 최근 가스터빈 발전기는 전력계통의 주파수 조절용으로 널리 사용되고 있다. 가스터빈의 입구온도는 기기의 성능과 수명에 관련된 핵심요소이지만 터빈구조 및 운전환경 등의 이유로 입구온도를 직접 측정하지 않고 가스터빈 배기가스 온도 측정값을 이용하여 입구온도의 추정 값을 구해 이를 연소제어에 사용하고 있다. 특히 재열 가스터빈의 입구온도는 안정적 운전관리에 있어서 매우 중요하지만 제작사가 산출 식에 대한 정보를 제공하지 않고 있어 현장 실무자들은 많은 어려움을 겪고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 폴리트로픽 과정식의 기반 위에 머신러닝 기반의 선형회귀 분석기법을 사용하여 가스터빈의 입구온도를 추정할 수 있는 방법을 제시하고자 한다. 또한 선형회귀분석을 통해 얻어진 입구온도 산출 모델식의 유용성 분석과 검증을 통해 입구온도 산출 알고리즘을 제안함으로서 재열 가스터빈 연소튜닝 기술수준 향상에 도움이 되고자 한다.

  • In attempts to detect gravitational waves, the response of some celestial systems such as the earth[l] or binary systems[2] to such waves have been investigated. Following this line of thought, here we study the possibility of excitation of the oscillation modes of a polytropic star by gravitational radiation and calculate the relevant absorption cross sections.

Wankel 엔진의 에이펙스 시일 파손과 엔진 이상폭발과의 관계 (The ralationship between apex seal breakage and engine detonation in a wankel engine)

  • One of the most probable reason of the apex seal damage in IR-2500 industrial Wankel (rotary) engine was believed to be the engine detonation. Both analytical and experimental studies were made with a view th find out engine detonation pressure. The stagnation detonation pressure $p_{03}$' was estimated based on the data from IR-2500 engine detonation tests, such as engine firing pressure, state of fresh charge at BDC and polytropic compression exponent. The estimated stagnation detonation pressure for the natural gas fueled IR-2500 engine was in excess of 3,700 psia. With natural gas liquid added to the natural gas the octane value of the fuel was lowered, thus, making the engine more prone to detonate. The estimated detonation pressure for the case with the mixed fuel was about 3,400 psia which was sufficiently high to break the apex seal. The subsequent engine lab tests performed on two identical engines with sole difference in the apex seal thickness between the two engines proved that the engine knock, in fact, was the villain of the apex seal failure.ilure.

증기압축식 에어컨의 냉매 충전량에 따른 성능 예측 (A Theoretical Evaluation of the Effect of Refrigerant Charge on the Performance of Vapor-Compression Air-Conditioning System)

  • A theoretical model for the transient performance of vapor-compression air-conditioning system has been developed to evaluate the influence of the refrigerant charge on the system performance. A set of mass and energy equations for the simulation of the heat exchangers and the capillary tube and a polytropic compression model for the compressor are used. The present model successfully predicts the transient behavior of the vapor-compression air-conditioner from the startup. As the refrigerant charge is increased, both the evaporating and condensing pressures increase gradually, and the cooling rate and the COP show a maximum in the range of 0.75-0.8 kg of refrigerant charge. This amount of refrigerant mass is determined to be the optimum charge of the model system. Also, the effect of outdoor air temperature on the optimum refrigerant charge is discussed.

폐회로 시스템에서 고압 디젤엔진의 연소특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Combustion Characteristics of the High Pressure Diesel Engine in Closed Cycle System)

  • The closed cycle diesel engine is used in a closed circuit system which has no air breathing. The working fluid as intake mixture are consisted of oxygen, argon and recirculated exhaust gas in order to obtain underwater or underground power sources. In the present study, the high pressure diesel engine which can be operated by the closed cycle system with high intake pressure for increasing the net power rate is designed. It has been carried out to investigate the combustion characteristics of high pressure diesel engine according to the power rate. The maximum cylinder pressure and heat release rate were investigated. Also, major experimental data such as specific fuel consumption rate, oxygen concentrations, fuel conversion efficiency, polytropic exponent, and IMEP were compared with low pressure diesel engine experimental data.

  • In order to obtain underwater or underground power sources, the closed cycle diesel engine is operated in the non air-breathing circuit system where the major species of the working fluid include oxygen, argon, and recycled exhaust gas. In the present study, the closed cycle diesel engine is designed to operate at the intake pressure between 2 and 3 bar. For operating in the open-cycle and closed-cycle situations, experimental apparatus using this diesel engine is made with ACAP as data acquisition system. In open, semi-open, and closed cycle modes, the predicted p-$\theta$ and P-V are compared with load bank power. Computation have been performed for wide range of major experimental parameters such as the specific fuel and oxygen concentrations, fuel conversion efficiency and polytropic exponent, IMEP and maximum cylinder pressure.

  • An analysis method is developed for the prediction of venting in multiple compartments which are connected in series or parallel through multiple ports. The existing method by the authors is modified to remove the limitation in number of ports and compartments, and the more general polytropic relation or solution of the additional energy equation replaces the previous isentropic relation allowing the prediction of pressure rise in addition to pressure drop. The accuracy of the method is verified by comparison with the results by NASA Flap code for the problem of pressure drop in a payload in the Space Shuttle cargo bay. It is expected that this method will be a useful tool in prediction of the pressure variation in a payload or payload capsule without mentioning the payload fairing itself.

초음파장하에서 미소기포의 완화적 거동 (Relaxation Behavior of a Microbubble under Ultrasonic Field)

  • Nonlinear oscillation of a microbubble under ultrasound was investigated theoretically. The bubble radius-time curves calculated by the Rayleigh-Plesset equation with a polytropic index and by the Keller-Miksis equation with the analytical solution for the Navier-Stokes equations of the gases were compared with the observed results by the light scattering method. This study has revealed that the bubble behavior such as the expansion ratio and the bouncing motion after the first collapse under ultrasound depends crucially on the retarded time of the bubble motion to the applied ultrasound.

  • Pneumatic cushioning cylinders are commonly employed for vibration and shock control. A mathematical simulation model of a double acting pneumatic cushioning cylinder designed to absorb shock loads is presented which is based on the following assumptions; ideal equation of state isentropic flow through a port conservation of mass polytropic thermodynamics single degree of freedom piston dynamics and energy equivalent linear damping. These differential equation can be solved through numerical integration using the fourth order Runge-Kutta method. An experimental study was conducted to validate the results obtained by the numerical integra-tion technique. Simulated results show good agreement with experimental data. The computer simulation model presented here has been extremely useful not only in understanding the has been extremely useful not only in understanding the basic cushioning but also in evaluating different designs.
