This research is conducted to create a functional hydrogel ophthalmic lens containing nanoparticles. Carbon nanoparticles and PEGMEMA are used as additives for the basic combination of HEMA, MA, and MMA, and the materials are copolymerized with EGDMA as the cross-linking agent and AIBN as the thermal initiator. The hydrogel lens is produced using a cast-mold method, and the materials are thermally polymerized at $100^{\circ}C$ for an hour. The polymerized lens sample is hydrated in a 0.9 % saline solution for 24 hours before the optical and physical characteristics of the lens are measured. The refractive index, water content, contact angle, light transmittance, and tensile strength are measured to evaluate the physical and optical characteristics of the hydrogel lens. The refractive index, water content, contact angle, UV-B light transmittance, UV-A light transmittance, visible light transmittance, tensile strength and breaking strength of the hydrogel lens polymer are 1.4019~1.4281, 43.05~51.18 %, $31.95{\sim}68.61^{\circ}$, 21.69~58.11 %, 35.59~84.26 %, 45.85~88.06 %, 0.1075~0.1649 kgf and 0.1520~0.2250 kgf, respectively. The results demonstrate an increase in refractive index, tensile strength and breaking strength and a decrease in contact angle and light transmittance. Furthermore, the visible light transmissibility is significantly increased at PEG 10 %. It is clear that this material can be used for high-performance ophthalmic lenses with wettability, ultraviolet ray blocking effect, and tensile strength.
This paper has been focused in developing of plastic lens with ultra-precision and low birefringence ability using by injection molding simulation tools. The simulation tools, $3D-Timon^{TM}\;and\;Asu-Mold^{TM}$ were applied to visualize indirectly the flow pattern of melted polymer enter the mould and the simulation results are verified as compared with the experimental results. Birefringence and polarized light generated in injection molding process was also calculated for each injection conditions and compared with .the pictures of experimented optical lens go through the polarized light plates device. A spherical radius of plastic optical lens transcribed from profile of mould core surface was measured to estimate the geometrical accuracy fer the each injection conditions. It is confirmed that the simulation results about flow pattern and polarized light area coincided in experimental results. It is known that increasing in thickness shrinkage at center of lens, the spherical radius is larger from comparing the graph measured spherical radius and the thickness shrinkage at center of lens

In this work, Integral photography with variable focusing lens arrays is proposed. We fabricate two-dimensional liquid crystal lens arrays using cohesion of UV curable polymer and lithography. Applied voltage to the cell alters the effective refractive index of the liquid crystal layer and results in a change of the focal length. By adjusting the focal length, synchronized elemental image array for real or virtual mode is integrated in front of or behind the lens array.
Antireflection pattern, moth-eye structure, was fabricated on lens using Ultra Violet nanoimprint lithography and flexible template. Ni template with conical shaped structure was used as a master template to molding. The flexible poly vinyl alcohol template was fabricated by molding. This poly vinyl alcohol template was used as an imprint template of imprint at lens. Using Ultra Violet nanoimprint lithography and poly vinyl alcohol template, polymer based moth-eye structure was formed on lens and its transmittance was increased up to 94% from 92% at 550 nm wavelength.
Diisocynate를 HEMA(2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate)와 DBTDL(Dibutylitin dilaurate) 촉매 하에서 반응시킨 후 다시 고 산소 투과성 특성을 가지는 bis(hydroxyalkyl)terminated poly(dimethylsiloxane)를 반응시켜 Acrylate-PDMS(Polydimethylsiloxane)-Urethane Prepolymer를 합성하였다.
In the conventional AF lens actuating system the VCM actuator is used. However due to the actuating mechanism, the VCM actuator has disadvantage in miniaturizing which is essential to the actuator for the mobile device. Therefore novel type actuator is required and the one of the candidate is actuator using electoractive polymer (EAP). The EAP actuator is one of the attractive smart materials that is light and can be easily fabricated with low cost. This paper proposes an AF lens actuator for mobile phone using dielectric elastomer. The proposed actuator was designed and analyzed using finite element method. The designed actuator is verified by experiment and the position control algorithm is applied.
Adhesion tests were carried out in order to investigate the effect of temperature on the adhesion behavior between a PMMA film and a fused silica lens in the micro scale. For the tests, a microtribometer system was specially designed and constructed. The pull-off forces on the PMMA film were measured under atmospheric condition as the temperature of the PMMA film was increased from 300 K to 443 K and decreased to 300 K. The contact area between the PMMA film and the lens was observed during the test. The adhesion behavior was changed with the change of the PMMA surface state as the temperature increased. In glassy state below 363 K, the pull-off force did not change with the increase of temperature. In rubbery state from 383 K to 413 K, the pull-off force increased greatly as the temperature increased. In addition, the area of contact was enlarged. In viscous state above 423 K, the fingering instability was observed in the area of contact when the PMMA film contacted with the lens. It was also found that the adhesion behavior can be varied with the thermal history of the PMMA film. The residual solvent in the PMMA film could emerge to the PMMA surface due to the heating and reduced the pull-off force.
Polydimethylsiloxane-polyvinylpyrrolidone(PDMS-PVP) 하이드로젤은 albumin과 IgG 흡착량이 가장 높았으며 poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate)-polyvinylpyroolidone(HEMA-PVP)의 경우 albumin의 흡착량은 매우 미미한 것으로 나타났다.
This research is carried out to analyze the effects of Styrene and PVP on the properties of silicone hydrogel lenses. Styrene group and PVP(Polyvinylpyrrolidone) are used as additives for a basic combination containing silicone monomer, TSMA(trimethylsilyl methacrylate) and DMA(n,n-dimethylacrylamide) added to the mix at ratios of 1~10 %. Silicone hydrogel lens is produced by cast-mold method. The polymerized lens sample is hydrated in a 0.9 % saline solution for 24 hours before its optical and physical characteristics are measured. Measurement of the physical characteristics of the produced material shows that the refractive index is 1.3682~1.4321, water content 77.11~45.73 %, visible light transmittance 95.14~88.20 %, and tensile strength 0.0652~0.3113 kgf. The results show a decrease of refractive index as the ratio of additives and water content decreases. The result of the stabilization test of polymerization show an increase of extractables along with increase of the ratio of additives, but the difference is not significant for all samples, so it can be judged that the stabilization of the polymer is maintained. Therefore, the additions of styrene and PVP should be taken into consideration for their effects on the physical properties of silicone hydrogel lens.
Cyclic deformations of polymer foam film are simulated using the finite element method. Material of polymer foam film is polypropylene (PP). The calculated polymer foam film is micro-scale thin film has cellular structure. The polymer foam film is used in ferro-electret applications. The polymer foam film is idealized to one cell structure as lens shaped stretched truncated octahedron model. Cyclic deformation is performed by uniaxial stretching. Stretching direction is perpendicular to plane of cellular film. Various cyclic strain amplitudes, pore wall thicknesses, pore shape are investigated to find deformation tendency of cellular structure. Consequently, cellular structure has various macroscopic stresses on cyclic deformation with various pore thickness and pore shape.
