상업용 고분자 필름의 투습속도 및 방습도에 관한 연구 (The Studies of the Water-Vapour Transmission Rate and It's Proofness on the Various Commercial Polymer Films)

  • 국내에서 상업용으로 이용하는 여러종류의 고분자 필름들에 대한 투습도를 일정한 압력과 상대습도 하에서 측정하고 투습도의 역수를 구하여 각 필름의 방습도로 정의하였다. 실험온도 $40{\pm}1^{\circ}C$, 상대습도 $90{\pm}2%$ 하에서 시료를 24시간 방치한 후 컵방법으로 필름의 방습도를 측정한 결과 다음과 같은 순서로 감소함을 밝혔다. 연신 polypropylene (O. PP) > 고밀도 polyethylene (HDPE, Inflation) > 고밀도 polyethylene (HDPE, T-die) > 무연신 polypeopylene (C. PP) > 무연신 polyester (N. PET) > 저밀도 polyethylene (LDPE) > 연신 polyester (O.PET) > 경질 polyvinyl chloride (Rigid PVC) > 반경질 polyvinyl chloride (Semirigid PVC) > 연질 Polyvinyl chloride (Nonrigid PVC) > 연신 nylon(O.Nylon) > 무연신 nylon (N.Nylon) 또한 온도증가에 따라서 측정한 결과 방습도는 HDPE, (T-die) > C. PP > O. PET > LDPE > O. Nylon으로 감소하였고, LDPE, HDPE (T-die), C. PP, O. PET, O. Nylon 필름들의 투습활성화 에너지는 12.0, 11.1, 11.4, 11.7, 14.1 kcal/mole임을 밝혔다. 필름의 투습도는 극성증가에 따라서 증가하고 PVC 필름은 가소제 첨가에 따라서 증가하며, 필름 두께와 연신 증가에 따라서는 감소하였다. O. PP/LDPE, N.Nylon/LDPE, C.PP/LDPE이 집합필름은 단일필름보다 두께에 대한 의존성이 증가하였다.

자외선 조사에 의한 폴리에스터의 광가교 (Photocrosslinking of Polyester by UV irradiation)

  • Poly(ethylene terephthalate)(PET) is one of the most widely used materials in textile industry. It can have a low cost, silk-like handle, and excellent mechanical properties. Low thermal stability of PET had been a common problem limiting its high temperature application. The polyester have been known to have the disadvantage of degradation under ionized irradiation compared to crosslikable polymers such as polyethylene, polypropylene and polystylene. To improve thermal stability of PET, the PET films were photocrosslinked by UV irradiation. A hydrogen-abstractable photoinitiator was used to photocrosslink of PET by continuous UV irradiation. Photoinitiator addition increased the gel fraction. The photocrosslinking was attributed to the recombination of PET radicals generated upon UV irradiation, which was enhanced by the hydrogen abstraction of the PET polymer chains by the added photoinitiator. Also the crosslinked PET showed higher thermal stability and mechanical strength with increasing UV energy. Polyester type films such as poly(ethylene naphthalate)(PEN) and poly(butylene terephthalte)(PBT) were also increased the gel fraction and improved thermal stability and mechanical properties by UV irradiation.

  • Poly(trimethylene 2,6-naphthalate)(PTN)은 dimethyl-2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylate(NDC)와 1,3-propanediol(PDO)로 합성된 polyester이다. 비록 PTN은 아직 상업화된 resin은 아니지만 Poly(trimethylene terephthalate)(PTT)와 비슷한 화학적 구조를 가지며 PTT 보다 높은 유리전이 온도(72$^{\circ}C$)를 나타내고 있으므로 다양한 분야에 응용될 수 있다. 특히 최근에 1,3-propanediol based polyester는 가스 차탄 특성이 우수하다는 것이 보고되었으며 PTN의 산소, 이산화탄소 등 가스 차단 특성은 poly(ethylene 2,6-naphthalete)(PEN)보다 우수한 것으로 보고되었다.   • In this paper, we proposed a beam tilting microstrip patch array antenna for the reception of satellite signals by using low cost copper etched polyester films and foams. The configuration and coupling mechanism of the proposed antenna are similar to the dipole Yagi-Uda antenna. It is composed of 3 layers of polyester films and three layers of foam. In order to prevent unwanted radiation and coupling loss by microstrip feeding networks and parasitic patches, a stacked layer with rectangular slots above the driver patch array is inserted. The 16${\times}$8 element microstrip Patch way antenna is Presented by experimental results. Its beam patterns are affected by many parameters such as sizes of the patches, gap between the patches. characteristics of the substrates, feeding method, etc. Owing to its complexities of various design parameters, both simulation and experiment were performed. The fabricated antenna received DBS signal from KOREASAT 3 by doing nothing but adjusting azimuth direction.

열팽창 캡슐을 적용한 발포 폴리에스테르 필름의 최적 공정 조건 및 발포 특성 (Optimal Process Condition and Blowing of Thermoplastic Polyester Film using Thermally Expandable Microcapsule)

  • Blowing film was prepared using polyester elastomer with thermally expandable microcapsule to investigate the optimum blowing properties and the film making process. Physical properties including specific gravity, blowing efficiency, foaming shape, tensile strength and elongation of polyester film were tested by varying the process condition of temperature and revolution per minutes of the extruder. The lowest specific gravity of 0.709 can be achieved with excellent foaming cells at $210^{\circ}C$ and 50 RPM conditions. The highest tensile strength and elongation was shown at $210^{\circ}C$, 100 RPM and $230^{\circ}C$, 25 RPM conditions. However, most of the prepared polyester films showed over $1kg_f/mm^2$ of tensile strength which is reasonable value to use in film applications.

폴리에스터 필름의 광투과도 향상에 대한 연구 (Study on the Improvement of Light Transmittance of Polyester Film)

  • 평판 디스플레이에 사용되는 PET 필름의 광학적 특성을 알아보기 위하여 필름 표면 굴절률, 필름 표면조도 및 필름 내부입자가 광투과율에 미치는 영향을 알아 보았다. 필름표면에 굴절률이 낮은 코팅층을 형성함에 따라 필름의 광투과율이 향상되었고, 최대의 광투과율을 가지는 코팅두께가 있음을 확인하였다. 표면 거칠기의 영향에 대해서는 표면조도를 나타내는 Ra를 입사 파장의 1/4 이하로 조절한 경우 광손실이 발생되지 않았다. 필름 내 무기입자는 입사된 광의 흡수 및 산란을 발생시켜 광손실을 증가시켰다.

Synthesis and Nonlinear Optical Properties of Novel T-type Polyester Containing Thiophene with Enhanced Thermal Stability

  • A novel T-type polyester 7 containing 1-(2,5-dioxyphenyl)-2-{5-(1,2,2-tricyanovinyl)-2-thienyl}ethenes as nonlinear optical (NLO) chromophores, which are part of the polymer backbone, was prepared and characterized. Polyester 7 is soluble in common organic solvents such as dimethylsulfoxide and N,N-dimethylformamide. It showed a thermal stability up to $300^{\circ}C$ in thermogravimetric analysis thermogram and the glass-transition temperature ($T_g$) obtained from differential scanning calorimetry thermogram was around $113^{\circ}C$. The second harmonic generation (SHG) coefficient ($d_{33}$) of poled polymer films at 1,560 nm fundamental wavelength was around 1.85 pm/V. The dipole alignment exhibits a greater thermal stability even at $10^{\circ}C$ higher than $T_g$, and there is no SHG decay below $125^{\circ}C$ due to the partial mainchain character of the polymer structure, which is acceptable for nonlinear optical device applications.

  • Methyl 3,4-di-(2'-hydroxyethoxy)benzylidenecyanoacetate (3) was prepared and condensed with terephthaloyl chloride to yield novel Y-type polyester (4) containing 3,4-dioxybenzylidenecyanoacetate groups as NLO-chromophores, which constituted parts of the polymer main chains. The resulting polymer 4 is soluble in common organic solvents such as acetone and N,N-dimethylformamide. Polymer 4 shows thermal stability up to $280^{\circ}C$ in thermogravimetric analysis with glass-transition temperature obtained from differential scanning calorimetry near $105^{\circ}C$. The second harmonic generation (SHG) coefficient ($d_{33}$) of poled polymer films at the 1064 nm fundamental wavelength is around 2.42 pm/V. The dipole alignment exhibits high thermal stability up to near $T_g$, and there is no SHG decay below $100^{\circ}C$ due to the partial main-chain character of polymer structure, which is acceptable for NLO device applications.

The dipole alignment exhibited a thermal stability up to near $T_g$ and no significant SHG decay was observed below 100 ${^{\circ}C}$ due to the partial main-chain character of polymer structure, which is acceptable for NLO device applications.

Organic Solvent Absorption Characteristics of Split-type Microfiber Fabrics

  • Split-type nylon/polyester microfiber and polyester microfiber fabrics possess drapeability, softness, bulkiness, and smoothness, so that they can be applied in various industrial fields. In particular, these fabrics are able to absorb various organic solvents, and can be used as clean room materials. To investigate the chemical affinity between solvents and the compositional materials of these fabrics, the contact angle of thermally pressed film fabrics was measured with different solvents. The thermally pressed nylon/polyester fabric films showed a chemical attraction to formamide. The sorption properties of the microfiber fabrics were investigated using a real time testing device, and these tests showed that the sorption behavior was more influenced by the structure of the fibrous assembly than by any chemical attraction. The effect of the fabric density, specific weight, and sample structure on the sorption capacity and rate was examined for various organic solvents. The sorption capacity was influenced by the density and the specific weight of the fibrous assembly, and knitted fabric showed a higher sorption capacity than woven fabric. However, the sorption rate was less affected in lower viscosity solvents. On applying Poiseuille's Law, the lower viscosity solvents showed higher initial sorption rates, and more easily penetrated into the fibrous assembly.
