Carrier Dyeing of Polyester Fabrics in Alkaline Dyebath Using Microwave (마이크로파를 이용한 Polyester직물의 알칼리욕에서의 Carrier염색)

  • In this study, the effect of microwave which can increase temperature rapidly on polyester alkaline dyeing was investigated. The final K/S values of polyester fabrics dyed by microwave lower than those of atmospheric dyeing because of the evaporation loss of dyeing solution. If the dyeing time makes longer as much as that in atmospheric dyeing, the K/S values of polyester fabrics dyed under microwave were similar to those of atmospheric dyeing. The K/S values of polyester fabrics dyed in pH 9.5 were higher than those in pH 5.5 in case of aliphatic carriers. The K/S values of organic reagent pretreated polyester fabrics dyed by use of aromatic carriers were not higher than those of non-treated polyester fabrics. But the K/S values of polyester fabrics dyed by use of aliphatic carriers were higher than those of non-treated polyester fabrics. The tensile strength were decreased with increasing of dyebath pH because the polyester fabrics were easily decomposed by high alkali.

  • in order to overcome disadvantage of the conventional two bath dyeing method of polyester/cotton blends, it had prompted significant effort to the development of the one bath dyeing method which can accomplish sayings in time, energy and water usage. Also, when dyeing polyester/cotton blends by the one bath dyeing method, the high salt concentrations needed for the reactive dye can cause particles of disperse dye, used for the polyester component, to aggregate. A supplementary problem that can occasionally be happened is the change of hue that occurs on dyed polyester in an alkaline dyebath. To improve dyeing property of polyester/cotton blends, cotton component was pretreated with epichlolohydrine-trimethylamine hydrochloride in aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide to produce a cationized cotton that can be dyed under neutral conditions with reactive dye in a non-electrolytic or il little electrolytic dyebath. The one bath dyeing method of polyester/cationized cotton blends with disperse dye/reactive dye mixture resulted in a satisfactory dyeing property and color yield in comparison with ordinary two bath dyeing method.

High Fastness Dyeing Technology of Polyester Microfiber with Several Disperse Dyes and Vat dye (수종의 분산 염료 및 환원염료에 의한 Polyester microfiber의 고견뢰 염색기술)

  • Polyester microfiber has usually greater dye uptake than normal denier polyester fiber in same dyeing condition. In spite of this high dye uptake dyed microfiber fabric has not only low visual colour depth but also poor washing fastness property. In order to study high colouring dyeing technology and high washing fastness of polyester microfiber, dyeing property of polyester microfiber was investigated according to the dye solubility and particle size of used disperse dyes in aqueous dye solution. After disperse dyeing, dyed fabric with disperse dye was redyed with a vat dye without reduction clearing in order to obtain a high washing fastness property. The result were as followings ; A small particle sized disperse dyes such as C. I. Disperse Blue 56 and Red 60 showed high rate of initial exhaution compared with a large particle sized disperse dyes like C. I. Disperse Blue 165 and Red 343. In study of dyeing property of polyester microfiber with C. I. Vat Blue 1, polyester microfiber could achieve high dye uptake at a given optimum vatting process conditions. On the other hand, in consecutive dyeing with disperse and vat dye, K/S value of polyester microfiber with a small particle sized disperse dye increased without reduction clearings, but K/S value of polyester microfiber with a large particle sized disperse dye decreased with reduction clearings.

  • The effect of padding solution on the microwave heat dyeing of polyester fabric was studied extensively. Polyester fabrics were impregnated in aqueous urea solution and aqueous sodium chloride solution for 10 min and then dyed for 7 min by microwave apparatus (2450 MHz, 700 W) under optimum conditions which provide good exhaustion. Aqueous solutions of urea and sodium chloride showed more effective than water as a padding solution for microwave heat dyeing. The type of solvent added in padding media and its concentration significantly affects the K/S values of dyed polyester fabric. Added solvents such as n-hexane, acetone, and dimethyl formamide were also more effective than 100 % water as padding media for the microwave heat dyeing. It is supposed that the effect of used solvents on dyeing property of polyester fabrics depends on the solubility parameter difference between solvent and polyester fabric.

  • The effect of padding solution for the microwave heat dyeing of polyester fabric was studied variously. The dyeing property of polyester fabric varied with the kinds of added chemicals in the padding solution. Polyester fabrics impregnated in aqueous urea solution and aqueous sodium chloride solution for 10 minutes and then dyed for 7 minutes by microwave apparatus(2450 MHz, 700 W) under optimum conditions give good exhaustion. An aqueous solution of urea and a sodium chloride solution was more effective than water as padding solution for microwave heating dyeing. The K/S values of dyed polyester fabric by microwave were significantly affected by the type of solvent added in padding media and its concentration. Added solvents, n-hexane, acetone and dimethyl formamide were also more effective than water as padding media for the microwave heating dyeing.   • This Study was made to investigate alkaline dyeing systems for a new dyeing applicable polyester fibers. Disperse dyes for dyeing of polyester fibers were C.I. Red 60, Blue 56 and Yellow 54 as three primary colors of E type which used widely on the scene. Dyeing properties of dispers dyes on the polyester fibers are discussed according to variation of pH values for application of alkaline dyeing method compared with to ordinary acidic dyebath. Alkaline pH of the dyebath was controlled to pH 9 and 10.5 with buffer solutions using each hydrochloride and disodiumtetraborate, disodiumtetraborate and sodium hydroxide to promote the reproducibility of dyeing. Dyeing properties of dispers dyes on the polyester fibers by alkaline dyeing method compared with to ordinary acidic dyebath were discussed by estimation of color, wash-fastness, bleeding and migration of dyed polyester fabric.

  • In this article, effect of the dyeing and mechanical properties were investigated on the polyester ultramicro fiber(UMF) and knitted fabric varying fiber fineness(0.01d and 0.05d). By a treatment with NaOH solution, sea-ingredient was removed and polyester micro-fiber was revealed. The dyeing, build-up and fastness properties of the fiber and fabrics were observed. We used C.I. Disperse Red 60 and Blue 56 for dyeing property and eight Lumacron dyes for build-up property and colorfastness. At low temperature dyeing($100^{\circ}C$), the dyeing rate of 0.01d-polyester UME increased more than that of 0.05d-polyester UMF with Disperse Red 60 and Blue 56 whereas dyeing rate of 0.05d-polyester UMF were increased more than that of 0.01d-polyester UMF at high temperature($120^{\circ}C$), The colorfastnesses of the 0.05d-fiber knitted fabric such as washing, rubbing and light was higher than those of the 0.01d-fiber knitted fabric.

Dispersant-free Dyeing of Polyester with Temporarily Solubilized Azo Disperse Dyes from Indole Derivatives

  • Temporarily solubilized azo disperse dyes based on 1,2-substituted indoles were synthesized and characterized. Dispersant-free dyeing of polyester by using the synthesized dyes has been investigated. The colour yields of the dyes on the polyester fabric were found to be highly dependent on the dyeing pH, optimum results being obtained at pH 5. The dyes exhibited good to excellent fastness properties on polyester while lightfastness was moderate.

  • Dyeing of polyester/cotton blends is usually carried out through the two-bath or one-bath two-step dyeing method using proper disperse dyes and reactive dyes for each fiber. However, the dyeing requires relatively long and complicated procedure as well as there are some problems such as lower dyeability. In the present study, new one-bath one-step dyeing process was investigated using disperse dyes having amino groups and hetero-bifunctional bridge compound(DBDCBS) including dichloro-s-triazinyl groups and ${\alpha},{\beta}$-dibromopropionylamido groups to improve the dyeability of cotton component in polyester/cotton blends. And the one-bath dyeing properties of polyester/cotton blends was evaluated by various dyeing conditions such as pH, temperature and dye concentration, The optimum dyeing condition was pH 4 and $110-120^{\circ}C$. Color fastness were relatively good because of the colvalent bond formation between DBDCBS-reacted cotton fiber and disperse dye.

  • Jacquard floor covering could be prepared from low-melting/regular sheath-core hybrid polyester, where the fiber is dyed in yarn state. With regard that the expected high shrinkage of the hybrid polyester in water makes problems in yarn dyeing, low-temperature dyeing properties of the hybrid polyester were studied. The rate of shrinkage of low-melting hybrid polyester exceeds 9% in hot water above $90^{\circ}C$, at such condition, cheese yarn dyeing is very difficult. Although disperse dyes exhaust in a relatively high speed on low-melting hybrid polyester, diffusion of these dyes to the core regular polyester was extremely slow under $90^{\circ}C$. Foron Blue E-BL 150, an anthraquinone E-type disperse dye, showed appreciable diffusion after 48hrs dyeing at $90^{\circ}C$. The fastness to rubbing and drycleaning were improved by one grade after reduction cleaning.
