  • An evaluation method for the effective length of electromagnet - which bas U-shape in frontview and trapezoidal in side view - is presented. Using 2D FEM, 2 analysing models are introduced for calculating effective length of the magnet ; the front model is using the normalized equi-pole face area of the magnet and the side model using the normalized equi-magnetic circuit. The ratio of the effective length to the length of bottom plate (core) comes out 1.25 - 1.30. In addition, 3D FEM analysis has been done and a proto-type test model is manufactured to verify the analysing method. The ratio by the experiment appears 1.2, which is reasonably in good agreement with the suggested numerical results.

  • This paper presents design results of anultra-small actuator for auto focus or optical zoom function of mobile phone cameras. The consideration of the actuator is tubular type having a large hole in its center to arrange some optical lenses. The stator consists of 3-phase windings, and the mover is designed to an Nd injection permanent magnet(PM) which magnetized with multi-pole polar pattern. From the numerical analysis that taking into account the magnetizing pattern of the PM, the thrust of the designed actuator is about 40mN with the outer diameter of 7mm.

  • Since rotor position information is necessary to drive the SRM, absolute-encoder, resolver and incremental encoder is used to detect a rotor position. But, it is not desirable to use a high price encoder and microprocessor under the condition of the simple driving system when precision control is not demanded. In this paper, only using the reflective type two photo-sensors replaces the conventional opto-interrupter and slotted-disk, which not only remove a slotted-disk section but drive three-phase 6/4 pole SRM bidirectionally, Therefore, control circuit can compose common analog device with low price.

  • In this paper, a levitation controller for a magnetic levitation(MagLev) system is designed and implemented. The target to be controlled is PEM(permanent and electromagnet) type with 4-corners levitation which is open-loop unstable, highly non-linear and time-varying system. The digital control system consists of a VME-based CPU board, AD board, PU board, 4-Quadrant chopper, and gap sensor, accelerometer as feedback sensors. In order to estimate the velocity of the magnet, we used 2nd-order state observer with acceleration and gap signal as input and output, respectively. Using the estimated states, a state feedback control law for the plant is designed and the feedback gains are selected by using the pole-placement method. The designed controller is experimentally validated by step-type gap reference change and force disturbance test.

  • This study proposes a new conceptual Hybrid Electric Brake System (HEBS) which overcomes the problems of the conventional hydraulic brake system. The HEBS uses the contactless brake system when vehicle speed is high to obtain superior braking force by eddy current, which is induced in pole area by magnetic flux through a rotating conductive disk. On the contrary, when a vehicle speed is low, contact type brake system such as conventional hydraulic brake system makes higher braking force.   • This paper presents the rotor shape optimization of an interior type permanent magnet (IPM) motor for a reduction of vibration and Electromagnetic Interference (EMI). The vibration and EMI in permanent magnet motors is generated by cogging torque ripple, radial force and commutation torque ripple. Consequently, in order to improve vibration and EMI, the optimal notches are put on the rotor pole with an arc shape proposed. The variation of vibration frequency due to the cogging torque and radial force of each model is computed by the finite element method (FEM). From the analysis result and experiment, we confirmed the proposed model has remarkably improved the vibration and EMI.

  • Generally, design of feedback circuit for stable system is performed by pole-zero compensation. For the purpose of reliable and stable closed loop system, the compensator would be designed basing upon the analysis of dynamic characteristics. This paper presents analyzed results of dynamic characteristics of the boost input type ZVS converter using active-clamp circuit. The simulated results by using Matlab and the measured results by using HP4194A are presented.

연결극점을 이용한 다중로봇의 대형유지 (Formation-Keeping of Multiple Robots using Chained-Poles)

  • We propose a formation-keeping and changing methods for outdoor multiple mobile robots in chained form. Our proposed method is designed to maintain the follower to its desired distance and orientation with respect to the pole using the concept of virtual force such as potential field. The client robots use a behavior-based control to perform kinematic control to keep formation under the centralized system in our software framework. The relationship of each poles that is expressed by set of distance and angle is the description of the formation type and the type converting is performed using this set. In addition, we also examine the stability and capability in the simulation and experiments with real robots.

풍력발전용 3MW급 외부회전자형 영구자석 동기발전기 설계 (Design of 3MW Class Outer Rotor Type PMSG for Wind Turbine)

  • Over the last decade, wind turbine industry has rapidly increased around world. These days many parts of the wind generators are induction generator. But it has some problems such as gearbox failure, rotor excitation and maintenance. Thus many manufacturers are considered permanent magnet synchronous generator named PMSG and direct drive. PMSG uses NdFeB magnet has many the advantage compare with induction generator. In this study, 3MW class outer rotor type PMSG for wind turbine is proposed. The generator features 2.6m stator outer radius, 1200mm stator length, 81 pole pairs, 14 rated rpm, 42kN/$m^2$ shear force density and 94.2% efficiency. Design and analysis generator using FEM program. Then calculate and derivate no load voltage, losses, conductor temperature. To reduce total harmonic distortion and cogging torque, the stator is applied the stator skewing. And to evaluate the designed generator, compare with other generators by active mass per rating torque and torque density.

Parametric Analysis of Tubular-Type Linear Magnetic Couplings with Halbach Array Magnetized Permanent Magnet by Using Analytical Force Calculation

  • Magnetic couplings are widely used in various industrial applications because they can transmit magnetic force without any mechanical contact. In addition, linear couplings have many advantages. For example, they do not need to convert rotary motion to linear motion. This paper shows an analytical analysis of tubular type linear magnetic couplings (TLMCs) with a Halbach array magnetized permanent magnet (PM). An analytical method for magnetic fields owing to PMs is performed by using magnetic vector potential as well as Poisson and Laplace equations. Then, the magnetic force is calculated by using the Maxwell stress tensor. The analytical analysis results were compared with finite element method (FEM) results. In addition, we predicted the magnetic force characteristic according to design parameters such as the iron core thickness, inner PM thickness to -outer PM thickness ratio, PM segment ratio of the axial magnetized PM segment and radial magnetized PM segment, and various pole numbers.
