Effect of Space Charge on the Properties of Pyroelectricity of PVDF Films (PVDF 필름의 초전특성에 공간전하가 미치는 영향)

  • In order to investigate the mechanism of pyroelectricity on polyvinylidene fluoride film, the observations were carried out on the characteristics of infrared spectra, thermally stimulated current and pyroelectric current. As the results obtained from the study, it was concluded that the origin for thermally stimulated current exhibited above room temperature can be attributed to hole injected from anode during poling process. Futhermore it is clarified also that the origin of pyroelectricity observed on the specimen concerned is to spontaneous polarization of CF dipole attached to molecular chain segment, however, the fraction of spontaneous polarization is largely influenced by the amount of hole injected from anode.

Spin-polarization and x-ray magnetic circular dichroism in GaAs

  • The combination of angular spin momentum with electronics is a promising successor to charge-based electronics. The conduction bands in GaAs may become spin-polarized via optical spin pumping, doping with magnetic ions, or induction of a moment with an external magnetic field. We investigated the spin populations in GaAs with x-ray magnetic circular dichroism for each of these three cases. We find strong anti-symmetric lineshapes at the Ga $L_3$ edge indicating conduction band spin splitting, with differences in line width and amplitude depending on the source of spin polarization.

  • Ferroelectric 물질은 고유전성, 자발분극과 전기장에 따른 유전상수의 변화 등의 특성을 가지고 있으므로 많은 연구가 진행중이다. 이러한 ferroelectric 물질의 유전 특성에 미치는 요소로는 물질의 조성비, 박막의 스트레스, 결정성 등이 있다. 특히 스트레스에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행중이다. 본 연구에서 산화물 인공격자를 이용하여 단일박막에서 얻을 수 없는 격자변형도를 얻어 격자 변형이 박막의 유전특성에 미치는 영향을 연구하였다. BaTiO$_3$ (BTO)/SrTiO$_3$ (STO) 산화물 인공격자를 Pulsed laser deposition (PLD)법으로 (La,Sr)CoO$_3$ 전극이 코팅된 MGO (100) 단결정 기판위에 증착시켰다. 적층 주기에 변화를 주어 BTO와 STO 각각 1.01~1.095와 0.925 ~ 1.003의 단일 막에서는 얻을 수 없는 격자 변형도를 얻었다. 이 실험적 데이터를 기초로 하여 density functional theory (DFT)라고 불리는 범함수밀도론를 기초한 제일원리적 계산 방법을 통하여 격자 변형된 SrTiO$_3$의 구조적, 전기적 특성을 계산하였다. SrTiO$_3$와 BaTiO$_3$ 격자의 안정성을 분석하기 위하여 Vienna Ab-intio Simulation Package (VASP) code가 사용되었다. SrTiO$_3$와 BaTiO$_3$ 산화물 격자의 안정성 분석 후, frozen-phonon 계산 방법을 사용하여 zone-centered optical phonon mode가 계산되었으며, mode effective charge는 Berry-phase polarization 으로부터 얻어졌다. SrTiO$_3$ 격자가 격자변형이 일어나지 않은 상태로부터 c/a= 0.985로 격자 변형 이 일어남에 따라 optical phonon mode는 점차 hardening되었다. BaTiO$_3$ 격자의 경우 SrTiO$_3$ 격자와는 달리 격자 변형이 1.01~1.023으로 진행됨에 따라 optical phonon mode의 증가를 가져왔으나 Born effective charge의 증가하였으며, 더 이상 격자 변형이 진행됨에 따라 optical phonon mode의 감소를 가져왔으나 Born effective charge의 증가 유전상수는 증가했다. 격자 변형이 SrTiO$_3$ 와 BaTiO$_3$ 산화물 격자의 optical phonon mode와 Born effective charge에 크게 영향을 미쳤다.

A Study on Electric Properties of Epoxy Resin on Filler Shape (충전제 형상이 미치는 에폭시 수지의 전기적 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The epoxy resin materials used in outdoor high voltage equipments are required to have the high electric performance because of the miniaturization. The frequence dependence of the permittivity and the loss tangent have important information. In this paper we describe the frequency dependence of the permittivity and the loss tangent for epoxy resin filled with silica and the influence of filler shapes on the dielectric properties. The increment of tan $\delta$ in the low frequency region is caused by the increment of both the electrical conductivity and the polarization due to the shape of filler and the water absorbed in and near the interface between fillers and resins. The result of charge current and discharge measure, electric conduction is increased according to voltage.

Surface Relief Holograms on azo-polymer film

  • Surface relief holograms are fabricated by means of irradiation of laser interference patterns. The diffraction efficiency and the surface relief depth depend on the writing energy and the polarization of the writing laser beam. This structure is very stable at temperatures under glass transition temperature $T_g$ and can be erased by heating above $T_g$. We proposed a new technique to control the surface relief structure. The electric charge was deposited on the surface relief grating in a corona-depositing poling setup in an oven. The first-order diffraction efficiency measured before and after corona discharge increased from about 0.24 % to about 28 %. This diffraction efficiency increase is mainly caused by the increase of the relief depth caused by the electric charge. The relief depth is increased from 20 nm to 350 nm by corona charging. .

  • In this paper, the electrical conduction, breakdown strength and dielectric properties were investigated in the interfaces of PET films. The volume resistivity and breakdown strength were decreased; especially the specimens with semiconductive layer showed the lowest breakdown strength. This decrease of electrical properties was appeared by increasing charge density in inhomogeneous layer of PET. The dielectric properties of PET did not show significant difference with PET/PET but the films with semiconductive interface layer showed the increase in capacitance and $tan\delta$ was affected by the PET rather than semiconductive layer. It is assumed that the variation of $tan\delta$ was affected by the dielectric polarization and the leakage current(charge).

  • 절연체중에 있는 하전입자의 거동은 절연재료의 특성에 많은 영향을 준다. 본 연구에서는 호핑모델에 의한 수치해석법을 TSC특성과 쌍극자분극에 대한 TSC특성은 차이가 있었다. 실험과 대응시켜 가동이온에 관한 물성정수의 평가를 하였다. 호핑모델에 의해서 불포화 TSC와 I-V특성의 수치계산을 하였다.

  • It was observed that the growth rates are different each other in the opposite direction along c-axis due to the crystal polarity. In according to the calculation based on diffusional equations with consideration of the electrical polarization and the surface charge, the difference of growth rates could be explained. Some experiments were compared with this kinetic explanation.

  • The behavior of charged particle in dielectrics have a many effects on characteristics of the insulating materials. In this paper, numerical analysis method by hopping model was investigated application of TSC. As the results, there was a difference between characteristics of TSC by dipole polarization. Physical constant of movable ion corresponding to the experimental results was evaluated and also. Numerical calculations of unsaturated TSC and I-V characteristics were carried out by was of hopping model.

  • Nickel-hydrogen battery systems with metal hydride alloys are expected to have both higher energy density and lower pollution than nickel-cadmium cells. Nickel-hydrogen storage cells are expected to be well-suited for use in space crafts for a large capacity power storage system. Their major advantages are not only a capability of deep DOD(depth of discharge) using but also with excellent durability under excessive overcharging and overdischarging. In this study, the charge/discharge capacities, anodic polarization characteristics and durability for the continious charge/diacharge cycling of the $Ti_{1-X}Zr_XVNi$ and $Ti_{1-X}Zr_XV_{0.5}Ni_{1.5}$ alloys were measured by electrochemical method. The electrode properties of the copper or nickel plated $Ti_{1-X}Zr_XV_{0.5}Ni_{1.5}$ alloys were examined with a battery charge/discharge testing system in the temperature range of -5 to $25^{\circ}C$.
