Bronchioloalveolar cell carcinoma accounts for less than 6% of all primary lung cancer but has distinct clinical and radiological features and unusual pathologic appearance. The characteristic features are its peripheral location and tendency of rapid progression to diffuse type via aeroginous and lymphatic route without surgical intervention. Among them, mucin secretory type bronchioloalveolar cell carcinoma is the rarest and most distinctive. We experienced a case of mucin secretory type bronchioloalveolar cell carcinoma in a 47 year old female with roentgenographic findings of chronic progressive pulmonary consolidation with muliple cavities.

We report a case of a 5-year-old girl who developed left hemiparesis and left facial palsy, 6 days after the initiation of fever and respiratory symptoms due to pneumonia. Chest radiography, conducted upon admission, showed pneumonic infiltration and pleural effusion in the left lung field. Brain magnetic resonance imaging showed acute ischemic infarction in the right middle cerebral artery territory. Brain magnetic resonance angiography and transfemoral cerebral angiography revealed complete occlusion of the right middle cerebral artery. Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection was identified by a 4-fold increase in IgG antibodies to M. pneumoniae between acute and convalescent sera by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Fibrinogen and D-dimer levels were elevated, while laboratory exams in order to identify other predisposing factors of pediatric stroke were all negative. This is the first reported pediatric case in English literature of a M. pneumoniae-associated cerebral infarction involving complete occlusion of the right middle cerebral artery.

Four 5 month old calves were died after showing respiratory distress after long-distance transportation at winter season. They were diagnosed as fibrinous lobar pneumonia caused by Mannheimia (M.) haemolytica. Grossly, lungs were attached onto the pleura by fibrin, with a rich yellowish fluid in thorax. The cut surface of the lung was showed marbled pattern of the reddish or greyish consolidation and widened interlobular septa by fibrin deposition. Histopathologically, parenchymal necrosis was delineated by a band of the degenerated inflammatory cells, and distended interlobular septa with serofibrinous exudates and vascular thrombosis with alveolar capillaries degeneration and abundant serofibrinous exudates in alveoli. M. hemolytica were isolated from all calves, and bovine viral diarrhea virus and parainfluenza type 3 virus in one calf were detected by RT-PCR. Thus, it was concluded that this case was diagnosed as pneumonic mannheimiosis suggested by complex infection with viruses after long-distance transportation and coldness.
This studies were carried out to investigate the rearing managements of pig farms and survey on pneumonia of the slaughtered pigs from 5 selected herds located in Jangsu, Jeonbuk. Isolated aerobic microorganisms from pneumonic lung were examined antibiotic susceptibility and tested serological antibody titers of the herd base. Prevalence rate of pneumonia were examined according to rearing and health management conditions of pig farms. Prevalence rate of pneumonia were detected in 78.8% and enzotic pneumonia. In 47.7%, pleuropneurnonia in 31.1%. In serological antibody titers showed the positive reaction with 54.4% in Actinobacillus pleuropneumonia serotype 5, 44.8% in Pasteurella multocida, 36.8% in A pleuropneurnonia serotype 2, 13.6% in Mycoplasmal pneumonia. Isolated aerobic microorganisms were examined antibiotic susceptibility and showed the high activity in gentamicin (58.3%), enrofloxacin (53.3%), norfloxacin (51.6%), cephalothin (41.7%) and low activity in amoxycillin (98.3%), oxytetracycline (98.3%), penicillin G (90.0 %), tetracycline (88.4%), ampicillin (88.3%). Farm managements were deficient effect of humidity in swine house but ammonia gas all appeared the 10 ppm that were recommendation density, below.
Authors observed an outbreak of porcine pleuropneumonia at a piggery in Gyeongbug, Korea, which were diagnosed on the ground of clinical and pathological findings with the following results. 1. One hundred and forty weanlings out of 200 ones died suddenly without noticiable signs during the period of 15 days. All of the dead pigs showed formy, blood-tinged discharge from the nose and mouth. 2. Main clinical findings observed from 60 alive pigs from group consisted of fever, cyanosis severe degree of dyspnea and pleuritic friction rub. 3. On hematological observation for typical 5 cases leukocytes showed marked degenerative left shift with leukopenia (10500-13070/cmm), neutropenia (7-13%) and increase in the number of band neutrophils (6-27%). 4. The most prominent and constant pathological changes observed at necropsy for dead or alive pigs consisted of fibrinous pleurisy with partial adhesion, overlying of the pulmonary surface with fibrinous menbrane and necrotic pneumonic lesions with marked edema and congestion of lung parenchyma. 5. From these results the outbreak was considered to be typical porcine pleuropneumonia, although no bacteriological isolation was attempted.
This study was conducted to investigate the species-specific gene detection, capsular serogroup and antimicrobial resistance pattern of Pasteurella multocida isolated from pneumonic lung lesion of swine in Gyeongbuk province. P. multocida isolates were typed for capsular serogroups by polymerase chain reaction. Of the 32 strains, 28 (87.5%) were typed serotype A, 3 (9.3%) were typed serotype D, and 1 strain was unknown (3.1%), respectively. In antimicrobial agents resistance test, almost of strains were susceptible to amoxicillin (100%), enrofloxacin (96.9%), ampicillin (93.8%), florfenicol (90.6%), chloramphenicol (90.6%) and were resistant to streptomycin (71.9%), spectinomycin (56.3%). All strains were resistant to clindamycin, erythromycin and lincomycin.
The present study was carried out to investigate the prevalence of mycoplasmal pneumonia of slaugter pigs in Youngnam area during the period from 1995 to 1997. The prevalence and pathomorphology of gross lung lesions were studied from 682 slaughter pigs in 8 swine herds. Gross lesions of pneumonia were recorded in the lungs of 442(64.8%), from 367 out of them(83.0%) were diagnosed as mycoplasmal pneumonia. Microbiological examination was performed with 197 lungs with gross lesions of mycoplasmal pneumonia of slaughter pigs from 8 different swine herds. M hyopneumoniae, P multocida, A pleuropneumoniae, Streptococcus spp, Corynebacterium spp, and H parasuis were detected in 24. 4%, 48.2%, 2.5%, 11.2%, 3.6%, and 1.0% of the pneumonic lungs, respectively. A total of 48 strains of M hyopneumoniae was investigated for their in vitro susceptibility to 8 antibiotics. Among the drugs tested, lincomycin, oxytetracycline, tiamulin and tylosin showed the high activity in minimal inhibitory concentration(MIC) of $0.04{\sim}5{\mu}g/ml$ while erythromycin showed low activity in MIC values($1.25{\sim}{\geq}40{\mu}g/ml$).
Idiopathic bronchiolitis obliterans with organizing pneumonia(BOOP) is a specific clinicopathologic syndrome characterized by a pneumonia-like illness, with excessive proliferation of granulation tissue within bronchioles, alveolar ducts and alveoli. The changes are most numerous in alveolar ducts. The presence of intraluminal tufts of organizing connective tissue in alveolar ducts and more distal airspaces has been termed organizing pneumonia. The radiologic manifestations are distinctive with bilateral, diffuse alveolar opacities predominantly in the subpleural and lower lung zone. Patchy migratory pneumonic foci or solely nodular infiltrates are rarely present in BOOP. BOOP is a diagnosis of importance because of its dramatic response to steroids.
Objective: To investigate the association between CT imaging features and survival outcomes in patients with primary invasive mucinous adenocarcinoma (IMA). Materials and Methods: Preoperative CT image findings were consecutively evaluated in 317 patients with resected IMA from January 2011 to December 2015. The association between CT features and long-term survival were assessed by univariate analysis. The independent prognostic factors were identified by the multivariate Cox regression analyses. The survival comparison of IMA patients was investigated using the Kaplan-Meier method and propensity scores. Furthermore, the prognostic impact of CT features was assessed based on different imaging subtypes, and the results were adjusted using the Bonferroni method. Results: The median follow-up time was 52.8 months; the 5-year disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival rates of resected IMAs were 68.5% and 77.6%, respectively. The univariate analyses of all IMA patients demonstrated that 15 CT imaging features, in addition to the clinicopathologic characteristics, significantly correlated with the recurrence or death of IMA patients. The multivariable analysis revealed that five of them, including imaging subtype (p = 0.002), spiculation (p < 0.001), tumor density (p = 0.008), air bronchogram (p < 0.001), emphysema (p < 0.001), and location (p = 0.029) were independent prognostic factors. The subgroup analysis demonstrated that pneumonic-type IMA had a significantly worse prognosis than solitary-type IMA. Moreover, for solitary-type IMAs, the most independent CT imaging biomarkers were air bronchogram and emphysema with an adjusted p value less than 0.05; for pneumonic-type IMA, the tumors with mixed consolidation and ground-glass opacity were associated with a longer DFS (adjusted p = 0.012). Conclusion: CT imaging features characteristic of IMA may provide prognostic information and individual risk assessment in addition to the recognized clinical predictors.

Kawasaki disease is an acute febrile vasculitis that occurs predominantly in young children under 5-years-old. The patients present generally with a high spiking fever that is unresponsive to antibiotics and lasts for more than five days at least. Prolonged fever has been shown to be a risk factor in the development of coronary artery disease. It seems to be certain that infectious agents are associated with the pathogenesis of Kawasaki disease. The differential diagnosis of Kawasaki disease must rule out infectious diseases including scarlet fever, toxic shock syndrome, measles, and so on. This is very important for adequate treatment and prevention of cardiac complications of Kawasaki disease. We experienced a 25-month-old boy who had high fever and pneumonic consolidation in the right middle and lower lobe of the lung that was considered as mycoplasma pneumonia on admission and developed coronary artery aneurysmal dilatation during treatment with roxythromycin.
