  • Because the chatter vibration is a main factor to damage on the quality, The cure is require peticually in cylinderical plunge grinding. The chatter vibration is with wheel speed, workpiece speed and infreed rate. Therefore, in this study, we expressed more credible chatter frequency in accordiance with wheel speed by FFT after accereleration sensing.

PATH OPTIMIZATION OF FLAPPING AIRFOILS BASED ON NURBS

  • The path of a flapping airfoil during upstroke and down-stroke is optimized for maximum thrust and propulsive efficiency. The periodic flapping motion in combined pitch and plunge is described using Non-Uniform B-Splines(NURBS). A gradient based algorithm is employed for optimization of the NURBS parameters. Unsteady, low speed laminar flows are computed using a Navier-Stokes solver in a parallel computing environment based on domain decomposition. It is shown that the thrust generation is significantly improved in comparison to the sinusoidal flapping motion. For a high thrust generation, the airfoil stays at a high effective angle of attack for short durations.

  • In the flip-chip process, the problem like electric defect or fatigue crack caused by the difference of CTE, between chip and substrate board had occurred. Underfill of flip chip to overcome this defects is noticed as important work developing in whole reliability of chip by protecting the chip against the external shock. In this paper, we introduce the underfill methods using mold and plunge and improvement of process and reliability, and the advantage which can be taken from embodiment of device.

  • The objective of this experiment was to study some possibilities to simplify freezing, thawing and transfer procedure of one-step straw method comparing with the conventional methods using bovine embryos. The previous work are also designed to investigate the thawing effect by development stage and its quality using the embryos. Results obtained were summarized as follows: 1. A total of 87 embryos from 14 donor cows were frozen-thawed and an average of frozen embryo/donor was 6.2. 2. The survival rates of morula stage(65.4%) were higher than those of blastocyst stage(57.l%) and vice versa in rate of morphological recovery (80% vs 95.4%). However. no significant difference was denoted between them. 3. In difference between the groups of good quality and poor quality. good quality was resulted in a significantly higher embryo survival rate(75%) and recovery rates(95%) than poor quality(P<0.0l). 4. In effects of non-permeable sugar dilution in added to l.0M glycerol. higher survival rates were orderd in sucrose. lactose, raffinose and xylose. But lactose-raffinose, sucrose-trehalose and xylose in added to 2.OM glycerol. 5. The highest survival rates were obtained by direct plunge into the liquid nitrogen with 3.OM concentration both of glycerol and trehalose. 6. The survival rates in vitro condition of one-step and direct plunge methods(75%-87.5%) were significantly higher than those of multiple steps (21.4-52.6%) in in vitro (P<0.0l). However, the results of single-step were critical in comparing to other steps of final pregnant conformation.

  • Grinding process is executed in the final machining stage to meet the quality requirements. In generally the ground surface of workpiece is affected by dressing condition as well as grinding condition. In order to estimate the roughness of workpiece, the several roughness models have been researched. These models defined the specific parameters and considered the several parameters which affect to roughness as multiply relationship among them. However, the multiply relationship among parameters is not enough to show the complicated grinding mechanism. Therefore, the neural network algorithm is used in this paper to predict the ground roughness for the plunge grinding. The proposed structure is composed of the initial roughness as well as final roughness model. The input parameters of proposed neural network are referred with the existing roughness model's. The performance of the proposed model is verified through experiments.

Flutter Analysis of 2D Airfoil with Gurney Type Flap (Gurney 플랩이 장착된 2차원 익형의 플러터 해석)

  • Flutter analysis of NACA 0012 with Gurney flap was conducted in time domain. Flutter analysis was performed with a conjunction of two governing equations; one is 2D Navier-Stokes equation and, the other is Lagrange equation of two dimensional plunge & pitch model. Both governing equations were coupled by loose-coupling method. From the computed results, the effect of Gurney flap was concluded to move the flutter boundary of NACA 0012 downward, which means flutter occurs at lower speed than that of NACA 0012. Although flutter boundary of gurney flap was above the safety margin when mach number was lower than 0.85, there might be a possibility of crossing the safety margin when mach number was between 0.85 and 0.9. For safety, the effect of gurney flap needs to be investigated carefully before using it.

  • An OPEC production announcement is a major source of supply disruption that has a significant impact on the international crude oil market. In this study, the effects of OPEC's announcements are analyzed using event study methodology. Considering the oil price volatility and structural changes in the oil price, we divide the entire period into three periods and analyze the impact of OPEC's production quota announcements, including 'cut', 'hike', and 'maintain'. As a result of the analysis, we observe that the degree and direction of abnormal returns differ according to the announcements in each period. In addition, by subdividing oil price surge and plunge period into two sections, we analyze the effect of OPEC's 'maintain' announcements. During the oil price plunge period, the amount of abnormal returns was significant. This study provides policy implications for oil trading strategies and for the impact of OPEC announcements during periods of oil price fluctuation.

  • Purpose: This study attempted to examine the risk of stock price plunge according to the firm's management strategy. Prospector firms value innovation and have high uncertainties due to rapid growth. There is a possibility of lowering the quality of financial reporting in order to meet market expectations while withstanding the uncertainty of the results. In addition, managers of prospector firms enter into compensation contracts based on stock prices, thus creating an incentive to withhold negative information disclosure to the market. Prospector firms' information opacity and delays in disclosure of negative information are likely to cause a sharp decline in share prices in the future. Research design, data and methodology: This study performed logistic analysis of KOSPI listed firms from 2014 to 2017. The independent variable is the strategic index, and is calculated by considering the six characteristics (R&D investment, efficiency, growth potential, marketing, organizational stability, capital intensity) of the firm. The higher the total score, the more it is a firm that takes a prospector strategy, and the lower the total score, the more it is a firm that pursues a defender strategy. In the case of the dependent variable, a value of 1 was assigned when there was a week that experienced a sharp decline in stock prices, and 0 when it was not. Results: It was found that the more firms adopting the prospector strategy, the higher the risk of a sharp decline in the stock price. This is interpreted as the reason that firms pursuing a prospector strategy do not disclose negative information by being conscious of market investors while carrying out venture projects. In other words, compensation contracts based on uncertainty in the outcome of prospector firms and stock prices increase the opacity of information and are likely to cause a sharp decline in share prices. Conclusions: This study's analysis of the impact of management strategy on the stock price plunge suggests that investors need to consider the strategy that firms take in allocating resources. Firms need to be cautious in examining the impact of a particular strategy on the capital markets and implementing that strategy.

  • According to the 2013 statistics, the small/medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) accounted for 99.9% of the Korean economy with 87.8% of employment. This simple figures also indicate SMEs export extension is a key task for the national economy stimulation and job creation. The SMEs export plunge has been affected by the European financial turbulence, US financial instability, developing countries like China entering foreign markets, a weak yen, etc. EXIM Bank, in this context, will need to take a more proactive attitude to provide trade finance by, for example, reviewing the business feasibility for SMEs with a lower credit rank or investigating importers' credit status, etc. Moreover EXIM Bank provides factoring service mostly to large companies and should lower its threshold for service provision to SMEs. Finally EXIM Bank should play more than a primary forfeiting market entity. It also needs to facilitate the secondary forfeiting market.
