HI decomposition step certainly demand catalytic reaction for efficient production of hydrogen in SI process. Platinum catalyst can apply to HI decomposition reaction as well as hydrogenation or dehydrogenation. Generally, noble metal is used as catalyst which is loaded form for getting high dispersion and wide active area. In this study, Pt was loaded onto zirconia, ceria, alumina, and silica by impregnation method. HI decomposition reaction was carried out under the condition of $450^{\circ}C$, 1atm, and $167.76h^{-1}$ (WHSV) in a fixed bed reactor for measuring catalytic activity. And property of a catalyst was observed by BET, TEM, XRD and chemisoption analysis. On the basis of experimental results, we discussed about conversion of HI according to physical properties of the loaded Pt catalyst onto each support.
Simultaneous measurements of trace platinum and rhodium, based on catalytic reduction of protons by the adsorbed Pt-formazone and Rh-formaldehyde complexes formed in formaldehyde-hydrazine-sulfuric acid medium, were demonstrated. The conditions for the measurements of Pt and Rh both present at trace levels (>10-10 M) were 0.004% (w/v) formaldehyde-0.0012% (w/v) hydrazine-0.75 M sulfuric acid. In this medium method detection limits are 7.3${\times}$10-11 M Pt and 3.2${\times}$10-11 M Rh. And dynamic ranges are 5${\times}$10-10~6${\times}$10-8 M and 1${\times}$10-10∼2${\times}$10-8 M for platinum and rhodium respectively. In the linear dynamic ranges, Rh and Ir interfere platinum in the presence of only 10 and 100 times that of Pt respectively. There are no interferences from other platinum group metal ions for rhodium even in the presence of a 500-fold excess of Ir(IV), a hundredfold excess of platinum.
The dry method and wet method are currently used for the recovery of platinum group metals (Pt, Rh, Pd) contained in spent automobile catalysts. The study herein aims to identify the melting condition and optimum collector metal in accordance with a comparison of each concentration change in melting waste catalysts, using Fe and Cu in a basic experiment to recover waste catalysts through application of the dry melting method. As a summarized result of the experiment herein, it was determined to be more advantageous to use Fe as a parent material rather than Cu from the aspect of recollection rate, and the concentration change rate of platinum group metals within slag was greatly enhanced at $1,600^{\circ}C$ melting condition rather than at $1,500^{\circ}C$ in terms of melting processing temperature. The mean concentration of platinum group metals - Rh, Pd and Pt - within slag after a melting process at $1,600^{\circ}C$ were 6.21 ppm, 5.98 ppm and 6.97 ppm. The Rh and Pd were 50.58% and 55.31% respectively greater than the concentration change rate of platinum group metals in slag at a melting temperature of $1,500^{\circ}C$. However, since the initial concentration of Pt within the waste catalysts was 12.9 ppm, is relatively low, it was difficult to compare concentration change rates after the melting process.
Recently, the recycled amount of electric, mechanical parts, and appliances in artifacts has increased. These products use valuable rare metals such as platinum group metals and gold, which are included occasionally as additives. Rare metals are maldistributed in the world and most of them are produced in small quantities. A small amount of rare metals used in the appliances causes a large loss of rare metal resources because of the lack of an economically recycling method. The present recycling technologies including physical and chemical separation methods that are considered for recycling of electric, mechanical parts and appliances.

Palladium is widely used for several applications and recovery of palladium from secondary sources becomes increasingly important since palladium is one of maldistributed platinum group metals. Electrochemical recovery of dense palladium metal sheet from Pd leaching solution is a simple and easily controlled method. The surface morphology of the recovered Pd metal was significantly affected by current density and temperature. Dense deposit morphology was in higher stress state regardless of preparation condition under $55^{\circ}C$. Rising temperature up to $70^{\circ}C$ had a stress releasing effect besides densification of Pd deposit.

In recent years, multifunctional ternary nitride thin films have received extenstive attention due to its versatility in many applications. In particular, noble metal based ternary nitride thin films showed a promising properties in the application of Multifunctional heating resistor films because its good electrical properties and excellent resistance against oxidation and corrosion. In this study, we prepared multifunctional noble metal based ternary nitride thin films by atomic layer deposition (ALD) and plasma-enhanced ALD (PEALD) method. ALD and PEALD techniques were used due to their inherent merits such as a precise composition control and large area uniformity, which is very attractive for preparing multicomponent thin films on large area substrate. Here, we will demonstrate the design concept of multifunctional noble metal based ternary thin films. And, the relationship between microstructural evolution and electrical resistivity in noble metal based ternary thin films will be systemically presented. The useful properties of noble metal based ternary thin films including anti-corrosion and anti-oxidation will be discussed in terms of hybrid functionality.

With increasing demand for resources worldwide, Korea has been negotiating with resource-holding countries to achieve conservation of energy resources. Among them, Russia is the third largest resource-producing and exporting nation in the world and has several resource materials such as nickel, platinum group metals, gold, and other reserves. As a result, there is growing interest in cooperation between Korea and Russia. The aim of this article is to summarize the current status of market flow of Russian energy resources as well as Russia's economic cooperation with Korea. Notably, South Korea needs to focus on investing in overseas mines for a stable supply of rare metals. Nevertheless, securing rare metals is a major task by understanding the flow and policy direction of Russian material mines.
The purpose of this study was observe the effects of excessive occlusal force on gingival fibroblasts and collagen fibers of dog. The experiment was performed in 5 dogs. 1 dog was used as control and 4 dogs as experimental group. In experimental group, high Sun Platinum casting metal crowns with 2.0mm thick were placed artificially onto the upper right third premolars to create the traumatic occlusion. After 3, 7, 15, 30 experimental days, the specimens were examined under electron microscope. The following results were observed: 1. In 3, 7, 15 day groups, swelling of the mitochondria in the fibroblast was observed. 2. In 7, 14, day groups, dilation of the endoplasmicreticulum in the fibroblast was observed. 3. There were no remarkable changes in the nucleus of the fibroblasts and collagen fibers. 4. In 30 day group, the changes of the mitochondria and the ER in the fibroblast were recovered to have the similar appearance with that of the control group.

This inquiry was conducted to develop DeNOx catalyst for LNT. In order to develop appropriate catalysts, four catalysts, which do not use PGM (Platinum Group Metal), were carefully selected : Al/Co/Mn, Al/Co/Ni/Mn, Al/Co/Mn/Ca, Al/Co/Ni mixed metal oxides during preliminary experiments. Also, XRD, EDS, SEM, BET and TPD tests were carried as well to evaluate both physicochemical properties of such four catalysts. As a result of the experiment, four catalysts were composed of spinel-shaped crystals and had more than enough pore volume and size to have oxidation-reduction reaction of NOx gases. Additionally, through TPD test, all four types of catalysts were proved to possibly have an oxidation-reduction acid site and NO oxidation activities similar to commercial catalysts. Based on the results above, if we have further change in the composition components and active ingredients according to the catalysts that were chosen in this investigation, then we are more welcomed to expect to have an enhanced DeNox catalyst for LNT.

The effect of attrition scrubbing on the recovery of platinum group metals (PGMs) from automobile catalytic converters has been investigated. Catalytic converters were first crushed into particles less than 2 mm and attrition scrubbed in the range of 60 min, and then they were sieved with several screens. The catalyst layer, $\gamma$-alumina, was dislodged from the surface of the supporting matrix into fine particles less than $45{\mu}m$ by attrition scrubbing. The fraction of fine particles less than $45{\mu}m$ increased as the residence time for attrition scrubbing increased. The composition of the fine fraction obtained at a residence time of 40 min was $CeO_2$ 19.3%, $ZrO_2$ 1.9% and PGMs 419 ppm. In the fine fraction, the recovery of y-alumina increased proportionally to the residence time. Simultaneously, the recovery rates of $CeO_2$, $ZrO_2$ and PGMs increased to 82.9%, 78.7% and 78.9%, respectively. The production of the fine fraction less than $45{\mu}m$ and the recovery of $\gamma$-alumina increased when the solid concentration and initial feed size increased. Therefore, the attrition scrubbing as the comminution and separation process was concerned to be effective for the recovery of catalyst layer from ceramic supporting matrix by physical impact and shearing action between particles in the scrubbing vessel.
