  • This study conducts an in-depth analysis of user reviews from three leading metaverse platforms - Minecraft, Roblox, and Zepeto - using advanced topic modeling techniques to uncover key factors for business success. By examining a substantial dataset of user feedback, we identified and categorized the main themes and concerns expressed by users. Our analysis revealed that common issues across all platforms include technical functionality problems, user engagement and interest, payment concerns, and connection difficulties. Specifically, Minecraft users highlighted the importance of adventure and creativity, Roblox users expressed significant concerns about security and fraud, and Zepeto users focused heavily on the fairness of the in-game economy. The findings suggest that for metaverse platforms to achieve sustained success, they must prioritize the resolution of technical issues, enhance features that foster user engagement, ensure reliable connectivity, and address platform-specific concerns such as security for Roblox and payment fairness for Zepeto. These insights provide valuable guidance for developers and business strategists, emphasizing the need for robust technical infrastructure, engaging and diverse content, seamless user access, and transparent and fair economic systems. By addressing these key areas, metaverse platforms can improve user satisfaction, build a loyal user base, and secure long-term success in an increasingly competitive market.

  • This paper describes an effective method for forming silicon oxide on silica-on-silicon platforms, which results in excellent characteristics for hybrid integration. Among the many processes involved in fabricating silica-on-silicon platforms with planar lightwave circuits (PLCs), the process for forming silicon oxide on an etched silicon substrate is very important for obtaining transparent silica film because it determines the compatibility at the interface between the silicon and the silica film. To investigate the effects of the formation process of the silicon oxide on the characteristics of the silica PLC platform, we compared two silicon oxide formation processes: thermal oxidation and plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD). Thermal oxidation in fabricating silica platforms generates defects and a cristobalite crystal phase, which results in deterioration of the optical waveguide characteristics. On the other hand, a silica platform with the silicon oxide layer deposited by PECVD has a transparent planar optical waveguide because the crystal growth of the silica has been suppressed. We confirm that the PECVD method is an effective process for silicon oxide formation for a silica platform with excellent characteristics.

  • To prevent safety accidents such as injury or death from falling by blocking platforms from trains, the Seoul Metropolitan Subway Corp. have gradually installed screen doors in platforms of 115 subway stations in Seoul on lines 1, 2, 3, and 4. Installation in nine areas among those has been completed and screen doors are being operated as a model operation. Traffic signs should be clear for users. The essential functions of signs should be fully investigated from the aspect of user as well as the visual beauty and recognition. Signs should be able to provide users with information regarding location, position, directions, etc. Particularly, safety and convenient signs should be visually and sensually correlated. However, the entire screen doors in platforms installed in line 2 subway in Seoul are used for commercial advertisement, consequently, the functions and roles as public signs are not fulfilled aggravating inconvenience for users. In this study, cases have been studied to investigate requirements for user-oriented sign system in platform and public sign space to fulfill the functions of sign system in platform. Using an anthropometry approach, the study aimed to obtain the space to install the sign system and to systemize necessary and sufficient conditions for user-oriented system for platform in which screen doors have been installed using. The study suggests fundamental information to obtain the space of public sign system on the entire screen door.

  • Experiments were carried out to investigate smoke movement in platform of a subway station which currently is in service in Pusan, the second largest city in Korea. The recently constructed underground station of the "bank type" (two platforms on both sides of track) which is the popular layout of platforms in Korea, is chosen in Pusan. The smoke generator and heater are used for simulating the smoke movement at the fire break in the platform located in the 2nd basement of the station. Video recordings were used to monitor smoke lowering. In this study, the movements of smoke in the underground station are investigated under various smoke-control operating modes. Three tests wire conducted according to its operating mode of the ventilation systems in the platform: no operation of any ventilation systems, smoke extraction mode in occurrence of fire (presently running mode) and full capacity of smoke extraction where all vents are activated in the platform. The results can be used for comparing with the numerical prediction results of fire subway stations.

  • This paper aimed to identify architectural historical meaning of the brick-constructed platform of the west hall in Hwangnyoungsa buddhist temple site based on studying published the excavation survey report and comparing with other platforms of Silla remains. Mass and height of the building has a hierarchical structure within a buddhist temple site, this is applicable in Hwangnyongsa. So in case of a rank equal to or lower buildings than the west hall, those of platforms were built of brick-constructed. As stone relics, jidaeseoks are very narrow, I think that wooden pagoda and main hall's platform were built of brick in first construction period. West hall's platform was built at the late 6th~the mid of 7th century, these brick-remains were considered as a quite earlier construction period relics. Because in west hall there is no jidaeseok under bricks, and all bricks relics have a rectangular shape.

  • In the present study, the wind pressure transients on platform screen door in island platform caused by a passing train are investigated numerically. The transient compressible 3-D full Navier-Stokes solution is obtained with actual operational condition of subway train and the moving mesh technique adopted for the train movement. To achieve more accurate results, detailed shape of train is included in a computational domain and the entrance and exit tunnel of platform are also modeled. Numerical analyses are conducted on three operational conditions of different velocity variation.

  • Recent advances in sequencing technologies and platforms have enabled to generate metagenomics sequences using different sequencing platforms. In this study, we analyzed and compared shotgun metagenomic sequences generated by HiSeq3000 and BGISEQ-500 platforms from 12 sediment samples collected across the Norwegian coast. Metagenomics DNA sequences were normalized to an equal number of bases for both platforms and further evaluated by using different taxonomic classifiers, reference databases, and assemblers. Normalized BGISEQ-500 sequences retained more reads and base counts after preprocessing, while a slightly higher fraction of HiSeq3000 sequences were taxonomically classified. Kaiju classified a higher percentage of reads relative to Kraken2 for both platforms, and comparison of reference database for taxonomic classification showed that MAR database outperformed RefSeq. Assembly using MEGAHIT produced longer assemblies and higher total contigs count in majority of HiSeq3000 samples than using metaSPAdes, but the assembly statistics notably improved with unprocessed or normalized reads. Our results indicate that both platforms perform comparably in terms of the percentage of taxonomically classified reads and assembled contig statistics for metagenomics samples. This study provides valuable insights for researchers in selecting an appropriate sequencing platform and bioinformatics pipeline for their metagenomics studies.

  • The pressure-transient on platform screen doors in side platforms caused by passing trains with various operating conditions have been investigated numerically. The transient compressible three-dimensional flow simulations are performed with actual operating conditions of two trains by adopting moving mesh technique. To achieve more realistic results, the detailed shape of train and the subway station including tunnels connecting the adjacent stations are represented in the computational domain. Numerical analyses are carried out for cases considering arriving/passing/departing train with or without train stopped on the opposite track, and both trains on the move in opposite direction. From the numerical results, the maximum pressure on the platform screen doors, which is predicted in the case of two passing trains, satisfied the design standards for similar stations.

  • With the development of information technology, most of the information has been converted into digital information, leading to the Big Data era. The demand for search platform has increased to enhance accessibility and usability of information in the databases. Big data search software platforms consist of two main components: (1) an indexing component to generate and store data indices for a fast and efficient data search and (2) a searching component to look up the given data fast. As an amount of data has explosively increased, data indexing performance has become a key performance bottleneck of big data search platforms. Though many companies adopted big data search platforms, relatively little research has been made to improve indexing performance. This research study employs Elasticsearch platform, one of the most famous enterprise big data search platforms, and builds physical clusters of 3 nodes to investigate optimal indexing performance configurations. Our comprehensive experiments and studies demonstrate that the proposed optimal Elasticsearch configuration achieves high indexing performance by an average of 3.13 times.
