  • A multi-platform offshore wind farm is receiving the worldwide attention for the sake of maximizing the wind power capacity and the dynamic stability at sea. But, its wind power efficiency is inherently affected by the interference of wake disturbed by the rotating blades, so its layout should be appropriately designed to minimize such wake interference. In this context, the purpose of this paper is to introduce a layout optimization for multi-platform offshore wind farm consisted of 2.5MW spar-type floating wind turbines. The layout is characterized by the arrangement type of wind turbines, the spacing between wind turbines and the orientation of wind farm to the wind direction, but the current study is concerned with the spacing for a square-type wind farm oriented with the specific angle. The design variable and the objective function are defined by the platform length and the total material volume of the wind farm. The maximum torque loss and overlapping section area are taken as the constraints, and their meta-models expressed in terms of the design variable are approximated using the existing experimental data and the geometry interpretation of wake flow.

  • In this paper an omni-directional mobile robot is suggested for educational robot platform. Comparing to other robots, a mobile robot can be easily designed and manufactured due to its simple geometric structure. Moreover, since it is required to have low DOF motion on planar space, fabrication of control system is also simple. In this research, omni-directional wheels were adopted to remove the non-holonomic characteristic of conventional wheels and facilitate control system design. Firstly, geometric structure of a Mecanum wheel which is a most frequently used omni-directional wheel was demonstrated. Then, the organization of the mobile platform was suggested in aspects of mechanism manufacturing and electronic hardware design. Finally, a methodology of control system development was introduced for educational purpose. Due to an intuitive motion generating ability, simple hardware composition, and convenient control algorithm applicability, the omni-directional mobile robot suggested in this research is expected to be a promising educational platform.

  • The increasing number of retrenchments because of the current global pandemic, Covid-19, has led many to shift to the digital economy, especially among the low-income group (B40) in Malaysia. Crowdsourcing is the collection of information, opinions, or work from a group of people, usually sourced via the Internet. Fueled by the development of Internet-based platforms that provided its technological foundation, and the need for an agile and uniquely skilled workforce, crowdsourcing has grown from the grassroots, with a burgeoning body of research investigating its many aspects. However, very few studies examined crowd workers' motivation for continuous participation on online crowdsourcing platforms. Thus, this paper aims to explore the technological factors that facilitate B40's group motivation in Malaysia to continue to participate in online crowdsourcing platforms. This paper employed a qualitative approach, using a semi-structured interview. The thematic analysis method was used to decode the data extracted from the interview transcript. The finding of this study identified four main themes and seven sub-themes: (1) Technology efficacy, (2) Platform Management: client-worker management, safety net, payment mechanism, (3) Platform Design: UI design, rating feature and (4) Infrastructure: Internet connection, technology infrastructure. This study can provide a guideline for managing crowdsourcing practices in Malaysia, especially for the crowdsourcing platform developer.

  • Successful underwater localization requires a large-scale, parallel computing environment that can be mounted on various underwater robots. Accordingly, we propose a design method for an artificial intelligence computing platform for underwater localization. The proposed platform consists of a total of four hardware modules. Transponder and hydrophone modules transmit and receive sound waves, and the FPGA module rapidly pre-processes the transmitted and received sound wave signals in parallel. Jetson module processes artificial intelligence based algorithms. We performed a sound wave transmission/reception experiment for underwater localization according to distance in an actual underwater environment. As a result, the designed platform was verified.

  • Consumers have an increasingly active role in the marketing cycle, using social media channels to create, distribute, and consume digital content. In this context, this paper investigates the impact of user- and marketer-generated content on consumer purchase intentions and the approach to designing an effective social media marketing platform. Referencing a literature review of social media marketing and consumer purchase intentions, a case study of the social media-marketing platform, 0.8L, was undertaken using both qualitative and quantitative results through content analysis and a participatory survey. First, about 450 consumer reviews for ten sunscreen products posted on the 0.8L platform were compared with products' marketer-generated content. Next, 55 subjects participated in a survey regarding purchase intentions toward moisturizing creams on the 0.8L platform. The results indicated that user-generated content (i.e., texts and photos) provided more personal experiences of the product usage process, whereas marketers focused on distinctive product photos and features. Moreover, customer reviews (particularly high volume and narrative format) had more impact on purchase decisions than marketer information in the online cosmetics market. Real users' honest reviews (both positive and negative) were found to aid companies' prompt and straightforward assessment of newly released products. In addition to the importance of customer-driven marketing practices, distinctive user experience design features of a competitive social media-marketing platform are identified to facilitate the creation and sharing of sincere customer reviews that resonate with potential buyers.

  • In the 4th Industrial Revolution, the healthcare industry is undergoing a paradigm shift from post-care and management systems based on diagnosis and treatment to disease prevention and management based on personal precision medicine. To optimize medical services for individual patients, an open ecosystem for the healthcare industry that allows the exchange and utilization of personal health records (PHRs) is required. However, under the current system of hospital-centered data management, it is difficult to implement the linking and sharing of PHRs in practice. To address this problem, in this study, we present the design and implementation of a patient-centered PHR platform using blockchain technology. This platform achieved transparency and reliability in information management by eliminating the risk of leakage and tampering/altering personal information, which could occur when using a PHR. In addition, the patient-consent system was applied to a PHR; thus, the patient acted as the user with ownership. The proposed blockchain-based PHR platform enables the integration of personal medical information with scattered distribution across multiple hospitals, and allows patients to freely use their health records in their daily lives and emergencies. The proposed platform is expected to serve as a stepping stone for patient-centered healthcare data management and utilization.
