Moir$\acute{e}$s in 3-D Display: How to eliminate them

  • Moir$\acute{e}$s are a natural interference phenomenon which occurs whenever a transparent regular pattern plate is overlapped on another regular pattern plate. In the contact-type 3 dimensional imaging systems, the moires are inherent because an image display panel is seen through a viewing zone forming optical plate. The mathematical analysis of moires in the systems shows that they can be minimized by the proper selection of overlapping angles between them. The angle is different for pixels with different aspect ratios.

후육 용접 강관의 HIC 저항성 평가 (Evaluation of HIC Resistance for Thick-wall Welded Pipe)

  • It is required for the steel materials used in the sour environment to have sufficient resistance to hydrogen induced cracking(HIC). For line pipe steels, HIC resistance could be varied during pipe making process due to the large plastic deformation applied in the thick-wall pipe. In order to figure out such effect, HIC tests were performed not only in the plate condition but in the pipe condition and their results were compared in terms of cracking ratio. Test results demonstrated a detrimental effect of plastic deformation to HIC resulting in a substantial increase in the cracking ratio after pipe forming process. All of the cracks found in the pipe material were located in the outer layer of pipe where the tensile strain was resulted during pipe forming stage. In order to understand the HIC resistance of the pipe but in the plate condition, it was suggested to pre-strain the plate to some extent before the HIC test.

  • In this study, we developed an analysis method of plate forming by induction heating and verified the effectiveness of the present method through a series of experiments. The phenomena of the induction heating is a 3D transient problem coupled with electromagnetic, heat transfer, and elastoplastic large deformation analyses. To solve the problem, we suggest a proper model and an integrated system. Using the present analysis model, we can estimate the plate deformation in heating without experiments and simulate the plate bending process of induction heating.

가변금형의 박판 성형공정 적용 연구 (Study on Application of Flexible Die to Sheet Metal Forming Process)

  • Flexible forming process for sheet material using reconfigurable die is introduced based on numerical simulation. In general, this flexible forming process using the reconfigurable die has been utilized for manufacturing of curved thick plates used for hull structures, architectural structures and so on. In this study, numerical simulation of sheet metal forming process is carried out by using flexible dies model instead of conventional matched die set. The numerical simulation and experimental verification for sheet metal forming process using a flexible forming machine that is more suitable for thick plate forming process are carried out to confirm the appropriateness of the simulation process. As an elastic cushion, urethane pads are utilized using hyperelastic material model in the simulation for smoothing the forming surface which is discrete due to characteristics of the flexile die. In the flexible forming process for sheet metal, effect of a blank holder is also investigated according to blank holding methods. Formability in view of occurrence of dimples is compared with regard to the various punch sizes. Consequently, it is confirmed that the flexible forming for sheet material using urethane pad has enough capability and feasibility for manufacturing of smoothly curved surface instead of conventional die forming method.

  • 롤-롤(Roll to roll) 성형은 공정이 비교적 간단하고 생산 효율이 높은 중요한 금속 성형 공정이다. 이러한 이유로 롤-롤 성형 공정은 최근에 솔라셀 집전판, 디스플레이 격벽구조, 그리고 회로기판 성형 등 넓은 범위에서의 활용이 검토되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 솔라셀 집전판에 수십만 개의 홈을 성형하는 공정에 대해 유한요소해석을 수행하였다. 수백만 개 홈에 대한 성형을 해석하는 것은 컴퓨터 용량과 시간의 문제로 불가능하기 때문에 공정 설계를 가능하게 하는 최소의 문제 영역을 해석 결과를 바탕으로 설정하였다. 그리고, 홈의 형상과 온도에 따른 해석을 수행하여 그 결과를 분석함으로서 공정 설계의 방향성을 제시하였다.

Ansys와 LabView를 이용한 프레스 성형용 파이프 인서트 주조금형 개발 (Development of Pipe-Inserted Cast Die for Press Forming Process Using Ansys and LabView)

  • 종래에는 신발 부품 등을 제작하는데 주조금형을 가열, 냉각하는 별도의 가열판과 냉각판을 사용해 왔다. 그러나 이것은 금형을 가열 및 냉각하는데 시간이 너무 오래 걸리는 단점이 있었다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 기존의 가열판과 냉각판을 사용하던 방법을 대체하여 파이프 인서트 주조 금형을 사용한 신발창의 프레스 성형에 대한 적용 가능성을 제안하였다. 유한요소법을 사용한 수치해석이 금형의 온도분포 해석에 적용되었으며, 또한 LabView에 의해 그 온도를 실제로 측정하였다. 프레스 성형용 파이프 인서트 주조금형에 의해 부품을 제작하는 공정은 특히 생산성면에서 아주 효과적이라고 검증되었다.

실선체 곡면 제작을 위한 선형 배열 롤 셋 공정의 적용에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Application of Line Array Roll Set Process for the Manufacture of Real Ship Hull Plates)

  • The line array roll set(LARS) process, as one of many kinds of incremental forming processes, is a continuous process in which a flat metal plate is formed into a singly or doubly curved plate through successive passes of forming rolls. It was found that the curvature level of the formed plates in the previous study was well over the curvature required in shipyards. This fact shows that the LARS method has good potential for shipbuilding applications. The major purpose of the present study is to estimate experimentally the general applicability of the line array roll set process for the manufacture of ship hull plates. In this study, the target shapes are selected through investigation of the shape classification of ship hull plates that comprise a certain vessel. Forming processes for twisted shapes are analyzed with the finite element method(FEM) and the results of experimental work are presented. On the basis of the experimental and numerical results, the LARS process is applied to the production of real outer hull plates of a small patrol ship.
