It is reported that semi-solid forming process takes many advantages over the conventional forming process, such as a long die life, good mechanical properties and energy saves. It is important to predict the deformation behavior for optimization of the forging process with semi-solid materials and to control liquid segregation for mechanical properties of materials. But rheology material has thixotropic, pseudo-plastic and shear-thinning characteristics. So, it is difficult for a numerical simulation of the rheology process to be performed because complicated processes such as the filling to include the state of the free surface and solidification in the phase transformation must be considered. General plastic or fluid dynamic analysis is not suitable for the analysis of the rheology material behavior. Recently, molecular dynamics is used for the behavior analysis of the rheology material and turned out to be suitable among several methods. In this study, molecular dynamics simulation was performed for the control of liquid segregation, forming velocity, and viscosity in compression experiment as a part of study on the analysis of rheology forming process.
The flow properties of binder latices for paper coating were investigated, together with dynamic viscoelastic properties of latex films and electron micrographs of latices, under various conditions. The amphoteric latex, binder pigment latex and anionic latex were used in this work. The amphoteric latex has both anionic and cationic functional group on its surface. The binder-pigment with a core-shell structure has dual functions : plastic pigment and binder. The low shear viscosity of binder latices and clay slurry were measured with Brookfield vis cometer. At low-shear rates. the viscosity decreased with increasing particle size of latex. On the amphoteric latex surface, the carboxyl groups are assumed to be fully dissociated over the region of pH 9~12, but the density of negative groups seems to be increased because of the gradual decrease in the degree of dissociation of amino groups. Since the apparent particle size of latex increases with surface charge, the electroviscous effect can be observed. On the anionic latex surface, the charge density is assumed to be nearly constant above pH 8. However, below pH 8 the coagulation of particles could be observed probably because of the decrease in the charge density.

Cement paste is originally the basic material and crucial factor consisting concrete. This study investigates the relationship between flow apparatuses, which are ring flow(R-F), flow cone(F-C) and mini slump(M-S), in order to estimate the fluidity of cement Paste. For quantitatively evaluating the measured data this study also investigated the calibration of the rheology consistent, such as yield value and plastic viscosity, of cement paste using viscometer For this purpose the present work discussed the influence of 3 type of ordinary portland cement with different companies, affecting the fluidity of cement paste. and it also demonstrated the influence of the various kinds of mineral admixtures, such as fly ash(FA), blast furnace slag(BS) and silica fume(SF) and that of incorporating ratio. The author concluded that using R-F apparatus is the most effective flow test method of cement paste and it is exactly proportional to other apparatus' rheological properties.
It was proved from the viscosity test for deposits of debris flows(Kim and Seo, 1997) that the property of debris flows could be represented as Bingham plastic model. Based on this bahavior, numerical analysis for the movement of debris flows is carried out by using a computer progran Polyflow which huts been developed for the analysis of the behavior of non-Newtonian fluid. The numerical results obtained from two sites agree well with the movement predicted by an empirical formula. It can be concluded, therefore. that this scheme can be used for the analysis of the movement of debris flow.

The control performance of a vehicle installed with an MR(magnetorheological) fluid-based damper is investigated on the basis of Herschel-Bulkley shear model. Generally, most of MR fluid damper has been analyzed based on a simple Bingham-plastic shear model. However, the Bingham-plastic shear model can not well describe the behavior of the damper on the condition of high velocity and high current field input. Therefore, in this study, the Herschel-Bulkley shear model in which the constant post-yield plastic viscosity in Bingham model is replaced with a power law model dependent on shear rate is used to assess control performance of a vehicle with MR fluid damper suspension system. This study deals with a two-degree-of-freedom suspension using the MR fluid damper for a quarter car model. The response for the bump input to identify the fastness of MR fluid damper embedded skyhook controller and requested magnetic field are investigated.

Here in this paper, the steady paint film flow on a vertical wall of a non-Newtonian pseudo plastic fluid for drainage problem has been investigated. The exact solution of the nonlinear problem is obtained for the velocity profile. Also the average velocity, volume flux, shear stress on the wall, force to hold the wall in position and normal stress difference have been derived. We retrieve Newtonian case, when material constant ${\mu}_1$ and relaxation time ${\lambda}_1$ equal zero. The results for co-rotational Maxwell fluid is also obtained by taking material constant ${\mu}_1$ = 0. The effect of the zero shear viscosity ${\eta}_0$, the material constant ${\mu}_1$, the relaxation time ${\lambda}_1$ and gravitational force on the velocity profile for drainage problem are discussed and plotted.
Rheological characteristics of Sm-Co type plastic magnet compound for powder injection molding process were investigated with the variation of the magnetic powder size, their relative contents and volume fraction using the mixture of fine and coarse powder. Shear viscosity of Sm-Co type compound was decreased with increasing the size of coarse powder due to the increase of powder packing density. However, the smaller the average size of fine powder resulted in the higher viscosity of compound due to the increase of agglomeration force. In case of mechanically milled Sm-Co type powder, the viscosity of compound with the mixture of coarse powder of 125∼75 ㎛ and fine powder of average size of 4.9 ㎛ greatly depends on their relative contents and shows a minimum value at the 60 % coarse powder fraction. This means that the compound shows a maximum packing density at the 60% coarse powder fraction. Compound viscosities satisfied well the rheological model with the volume fraction of magnetic powder, and maximum volume fraction of magnetic powder in Sm-Co type compound for powder injection molding was about 66%.

In this study, in order to confirm the applicability of Hollow Glass Powder(HGP) in 70MPa-class high strength concrete, the fresh and hardened states were examined according to the amount of HGP, and the results are as follows. The flow characteristics showed that the slump flow increased slightly as the amount of HGP was increased, and the T500 was slightly shortened as the amount of HGP was increased, and the rebar passing ability was improved due to the ball bearing effect of HGP. In particular, it showed the best rebar passing ability at a usage of 1.0kg/㎥. The use of HGP 1.0kg/㎥ resulted in a 40% reduction in plastic viscosity, but the viscosity increased at 2.0kg/㎥. Through experiments, it was confirmed that HGP was helpful in improving the workability of high-strength concrete, and the usage of 1.0kg/㎥ is considered to be the most appropriate. It was confirmed that HGP does not affect concrete compressive strength.
To obtain the basic information for the effective use of collagen, the flow behavior of collagen extracted from skin tissue was studied. The viscosity of collagen varied with sex, age and the kinds of collagen by extraction method. Regardless of the kinds of collagen, the viscosity of collagen extracted from $6{\sim}12$ week old rat was relatively high. In case of the same age, the viscosity showed higher in female than in male rat and in acid soluble collagen than in insoluble collagen. The solution of the collagen showed the characteristics of Bingham plastic and thixotropic fluid, and the viscosity varied distinctly with temperature, pH, ethanol concentration and collagen concentration. As collagen concentration increased to 6%, the consistency of acid soluble- and insoluble collagen showed a tendency to increase linearly(r = 0.972 for acid soluble collagen, r = 0.957 for insoluble collagen). In that range of collagen concentration, the increasing velocity of consistency was higher in acid soluble collagen than in insoluble collagen. The consistency of collagen solution was decreased according to temperature rising. In case of acid soluble collagen, the consistency is decreased abruptly between $30{\sim}40^{\circ}C$. According to pH variation, the consistency of acid soluble collagen showed biphasic phenomenon, though the consistency of insoluble collagen was found not to be influenced by pH. The consistency of acid soluble- and insoluble collagen according to ethanol concentration showed high between $40{\sim}60%$ of ethanol concentration.

The aim of the research is providing a fundamental idea of reducing viscosity of cement based materials by replacing powder based material. With developing concrete technology, high performance concrete with high solid volume fraction has been used widely. Under the conditions of the high solid volume fraction due to the low w/c and replacement of SCMs, decreased fluidity is one of the critical problem, and thus plasticizer has been used to improve fluidity of the mixture. However, in rheological aspect, the fluidity of cement based materials can be defined with yield stress and viscosity, and using plasticizer only decreases yield stress without least controlling on viscosity. Therefore, based on the idea of Krieger-Dougherty model, a feasibility of wasted limestone powder from cement manufacturing process was used to decrease the viscosity of the mixture by replacing cement powder. According to a series of experiment, by replacing wasted limestone powder solely, there was a possibility of reducing viscosity was observed. Thus, in this research scope, it is considered to contribute on providing a fundamental idea of reducing viscosity with powder replacement and it is expected to contribute on further research using various conditions of replacing powders for reducing viscosity of cementitious materials.
