Ca(OH)2촉매를 이용한 플라즈마 반응에 의한 황산화물의 제거에 관한 연구 (A study of decomposition of sulfur oxides using Calcium hydroxide catalyst by plasma reactions)

  • In this study, the air pollutant removal such as sulfur oxides was studied. A combination of the plasma discharge in the reactor by the reaction surface discharge reactor Calcium hydroxides catalytic reactor and air pollutants, hazardous gas SOx, changes in gas concentration, change in frequency, the thickness of the electrode, kinds of electrodes and the addition of simulated composite catalyst composed of a variety of gases, including decomposition experiments were performed by varying the process parameters. The experimental results showed the removal efficiency of 98% in the decomposition of sulfur oxides removal experiment when Calcium hydroxides catalysts and the tungsten(W) electrodes were used. It was increased 3% more than if you do not have the catalytic. If added to methane gas was added the removal efficiency increased decomposition.

플라즈마를 이용한 LPG연료 개질 특성연구 (Characteristics of LPG Fuel Reforming using Plasma Technology)

  • In this study, characteristics of reforming process of automotive liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) fuel using plasma reactor are investigated. Because plasma reformer technology has advantages of a fast start-up and wide fuel/oxidizer ratio of operation, and reactor size is smaller and more simple compared to typical combustor and catalytic reactor, plasma reforming is suitable to the on-board vehicle reformer. To evaluate the characteristics of the reforming process, parametric effect of $O_2/C$ ratios, reactant flow rate and metal form on the process were investigated. In the test of varying $O_2/C$ ratio from partial oxidation to stoichiometry combustion, conversion of LPG was increased but selectivity of $H_2$ decreased. The optimum condition of $O_2/C$ ratio for the highest $H_2$ yield was determined to be around 1.0 for 20~50 lpm, and 1.35 for 100 lpm. Specific energy density (SED) was major factor in reforming process and higher SED leads to higher $H_2$ yield. And metal form in the reformer increased $H_2$ yield of about 34 % as compared to the case of no metal form. The result can be a guide to map optimal condition of reforming process.

  • An experimental study has been performed to characterize fundamental aspects of VOCs removal using non-thermal palsma technique. The removed VOCs in the present study are toluene ($C_6H_5CH_3$), ethene ($C_2H_4$), propene ($C_3H_6$) which are typical air pollutants generated from industry and automobile engines. The non-thermal plasma used in the present experiments has been produced in a wire-cylinder reactor with pulsed corona or a packed-bed reactor filled with ceramic bead. These differently generated non-thermal plasma have been visualized with an intensified CCD. The images of non-thermal plasma have been used for optimal design of a corona reactor used in the present study. The experimental results show that the removal efficiencies of VOCs with non-thermal plasma are dependant on the reactivity of VOCs with OH, O, and $O_3$. The results also show that the removal efficiencies of VOCs decrease significantly when VOCs are treated with NO that is also oxidized in the presence of OH, O, and $O_3$.

Improvement of Plasma Reactor Performance for Hydrogen Generation

  • Research was performed to increase the efficiency of a plasma reactor for $H_2$ yield. In the preceding studies $H_2$ was increased by adding Ni as a transitional metal catalyst and $TiO_2$ as a photocatalyst. In these experiments, it was found that distilled water, discharge frequency, and electrode configuration had a significant impact on $H_2$ generation. A substantial amount of hydrogen yield was observed at 2 kHz of discharge frequency and 12 kV of applied voltage. Within this favorable discharge conditions, the weight rate of $TiO_2$ and Ni powders was investigated. Plasma phenomenon was measured by electrical, optical and acoustical devices. It was found that emitted light, electric current and acoustical signals acquired from the discharge demonstrated systematical correlation. Changing the electrode's configuration allowed discharge distribution along the perimeter of the electrode's tip, which increased the density of streamers and plasma energy loadings, as the value of inception voltage for the discharge propagation decreased.

공기순환장치 적용 오존 플라즈마 살균장치 개발 (Development of Ozone Plasma Sterilizer with Air Circulation Device)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to develop a new sterilization plasma device that would be proficient at sterilizing and removing pathogenic bacteria and viruses, and applicable to air purification systems. Methods: In order to understand the performance characteristics, the discharge characteristics of a packed bed DBD reactor and the ozone reduction characteristics of an ozone filter installed at the outlet of the reactor were investigated. Results: The novel packed-bed DBD reactor was proposed, and it was confirmed that the plasma discharge was uniformly and stably discharged throughout the entire layer, and sufficient ozone was generated for sterilization. The ozone filter was tested for three methods: adsorption, adsorption-decomposition, and catalytic decomposition. When the filter thickness was 30 mm, the ozone concentrations were 0.03 ppm, 0.01 ppm, and 0.21 ppm, respectively. The adsorption and adsorption-decomposition methods satisfied the EPA standard of less than 0.05ppm, but the catalytic decomposition method did not. Conclusions: It was confirmed that the adsorption-decomposition method has relatively excellent ozone filter performance and can provide the best ozone filter.

기-액 하이브리드 대기압 플라즈마 반응기 제작 및 특성 분석 (Fabrication and Characterization of Gas-liquid Hybrid Reactor Equipped with Atmospheric Pressure Plasma)

  • 3가지 종류의 기-액 하이브리드 수평형, 수직형 그리고 needle-to-cylinder형 플라즈마 반응기가 제작되었다. 이들 반응기를 통하여 대기압 플라즈마 방전에서 발생하는 반응 활성종 생성과 전극 내의 전위차를 통한 세정성분의 기-액 활성화 반응을 일으키는 고효율 친환경 기반의 세정 개념을 제시하였다. 세정성능에 대한 효율성을 비교한 결과, needle-to-cylinder형 반응기가 가장 우수한 특성을 가졌다. 본 연구를 통해 기-액 하이브리드 대기압 플라즈마 반응기가 반도체 공정 등 초정밀 세정공정에 응용 가능성이 있음을 확인하였다.

  • 유전체 배리어 방전 플라즈마를 모사 농산물 저장시설($1.0m^3$)의 에틸렌 제거에 적용하였다. 에틸렌이 포함된 공기를 플라즈마 반응기에 유입시켜 처리한 후 다시 농산물 저장시설로 재순환하는 방식으로 시험을 수행하였다. 주요 운전변수는 방전전력, 순환기체 유량, 초기 에틸렌 농도 및 처리시간이었다. 에틸렌의 분해속도는 주로 방전전력과 처리시간에 의해 결정되었다. 다른 조건을 일정하게 유지한 상태에서 플라즈마 반응기 후단에 이산화망간 오존분해 촉매를 설치했을 경우 오존분해 촉매가 없을 때 보다 에틸렌 제거속도가 더 빨랐는데, 이 결과는 플라즈마 반응기에서 배출되는 오존이 농산물 저장시설에 유입 축적되어 에틸렌을 추가적으로 분해했기 때문이다. 에틸렌 초기 농도 50 ppm을 기준으로 하면 이를 완전히 분해하기 위한 에너지 요구량은 약 60 kJ이었다.

금속파티클-AI2O3Barrier 반응기의 NOx 제거에 미치는 유전체 영향 (Effect of Dielectrics on NOx Removal of Metal Particle-AI2O3 Barrier Reactor)

  • In this paper, we made four types of metal particle $Al_2$O$_3$ barrier reactors with and without dielectric of BaTiO$_3$ between metal particle and $Al_2$O$_3$ barrier to investigate NOx removal characteristic and the effect of dielectric on Nox removal. And Nox removal rate is measured when sludge pellets are put at down stream of plasma reactor. Nox removal rate in the reactor with $Al_2$O$_3$ barrier is much better than that in the reactor without $Al_2$O$_3$ barrier, Nox removal rate is not so good in metal particle-Al$_2$O$_3$ barrier reactor with BaTiO$_3$ between metal particle and $Al_2$O$_3$ barrier, however, Nox removal rate is about 40% in metal particle-Al$_2$O$_3$ barrier reactor with TiO$_2$. The most of NO is conversed to NO$_2$ in these kind of reactor. When sludge pellets are put at down stream of plasma reactor, Nox removal rate is greatly improved up to 90%. It indicates that sludge pellets have great effect on the NO$_2$ removal and the improvement of Nox removal rate, however, dielectric materials between metal particle and $Al_2$O$_3$ barrier have not effect. Organic materials included in sludge may react with NO$_2$ and ozone so that Nox removal rate is greatly improved.

고속 교반을 이용한 기-액 혼합 플라즈마방전 시스템의 성능 향상 (Performance Enhancement of Gas-Liquid Mixed Plasma Discharge System using High Speed Agitation)

  • Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD) plasma is a new technique for use in environmental pollutant degradation, which is characterized by the production of hydroxyl radicals as the primary degradation species. Due to the short lifetime of the chemically active species generated during the plasma reaction, the dissolution of the plasma gas has a significant effect on the reaction performance. The plasma reaction performance can be enhanced by combining the basic plasma reactor with a homogenizer system in which the bubbles are destroyed and turned into micro-bubbles. For this purpose, the improvement of the dissolution of plasma gas was evaluated by measuring the RNO (N-dimethyl-4-nitrosoaniline, an indicator of the generation of OH radicals). Experiments were conducted to evaluate the effects of the diameter, rotation speed, and height of the homogenizer, pore size, and number of the diffuser and the applied voltage on the plasma reaction. The results showed that the RNO removal efficiency of the plasma reactor combined with a homogenizer is two times higher than that of the conventional one. The optimum rotor size and rotation speed of the homogenizer were 15.1 mm, and 19,700 rpm, respectively. Except for the lowest pore size distribution of $10-16{\mu}m$, the pore size of the diffuser showed little effect on RNO removal.

PEMFC용 플라즈마 개질 시스템의 수소 생산 (Hydrogen Production for PEMFC Application in Plasma Reforming System)

  • 이 논문의 목적은 PEMFC 작동을 위한 플라즈마 개질 시스템의 최적 조건을 연구한 것이다. 플라즈마 개질 반응기는 니켈 촉매 반응기와 동시에 사용하여 수소 생성을 증대하였다. 또한 수성가스 전환 반응기 및 선택적 산화 반응기는 연료전지의 촉매 피독에 영향을 주는 일산화탄소의 농도를 10 ppm 이하로 줄이기 위하여 제작되었다. 플라즈마 개질기에서 최대 수소생산 조건은 S/C 비 3.2, 메탄 2.0 L/min, 촉매반응기 온도는 $700{\pm}5^{\circ}C$ 그리고 입력전력 900 W이다. 이때의 합성가스의 농도는 $H_2$ 70.2%, CO 7.5%, $CO_2$ 16.2%, $CH_4$ 1.8% 이다. 수소 수율, 수소 선택도 그리고 메탄 전환율는 각각 56.8%, 38.1%, 92.2%이다. 에너지 효율과 에너지 요구량은 37.0%, 183.6 kJ/mol 이다. 추가적으로 $CO_2/CH_4$ 비 실험을 진행하였다. 또한 수성가스 전환 반응기는 플라즈마 개질 반응기의 최적조건으로 실험을 진행하였으며, 출구 농도는 $H_2$ 68.0%, CO 337 ppm, $CO_2$ 24.0%, $CH_4$ 2.2%, $C_2H_4$ 0.4%, $C_2H_6$ 4.1% 이다. 이때의 선택적 산화 반응기의 실험결과는 $H_2$ 51.9%, CO 0%, $CO_2$ 17.3%를 나타냈다.
