  • Visible light spectrum emitted from $H_2$ plasma in the parallel plate reactor using a commercial electric power are investigated by optical emission spectroscopy. Intensity of visible light is measured as a function of $H_2$ pressure and discharging power, and the intensity is compared with plasma density measured with the probe. As a result, the intensity is affected by plasma density and the plasma density is controlled the $H_2$ pressure and the discharging power.

  • We investigated visible light radiated from Plasma Focus device by time-integrated analyzed method. Plasma focus is a device that translated from electric energy into visible light by electric discharge. Spectral analysis is using Monochromator(focal length = 0.5 m). Time-integrated spectrum is analyzed with densitometer the film which developed a constant range of wavelength. The condition of visible emission was that the discharging voltage was 13 kV and the working gas were Argon and Helium.

  • Purpose: The radial speed of plasma current sheath was measured at the plasma focus apparatus. Methods: The measurement was used to time-resolved spectroscopic method and Rogowski coils. Results: Radial current sheath speed was measured with $10^5$ cm/s at Helium and Argon pressure between 5 to 100 torr and discharging voltage of 15 kV. When the gas pressure was increased, the current sheath speeds were decreased. Conclusions: At the optimum condition of plasma focus apparatus, the radial speed is guessed $10^7$ cm/s as a results of the measurement of current sheath speed.

  • The axial speed of plasma current sheath was measured with Rogowski coils and compared with the theory of snowplow model. Current sheath speed is measured with $10^6cm/s$. The speed of light gas, $H_2$ and He were similar to the theory of model, but the heavy gas, Ar was not similar to the theory. The disagreement of the heavy gas was guessed as a results of the instability of the current sheath.

  • We investigated X-ray radiated from the pulsed Plasma Focus device that translated from electric energy into electromagnetic wave by electric discharge. X-ray radiation is analysed by using pin photodiode and 0.5mm pinhole camera shielded by $25{\mu}m$ Be. The condition of X-ray radiation was that the discharging voltage was 15 kV and the working gas were 0.12 torr Argon. Reproducibility of X-ray radiation is investigated and X-ray temperature is calculated above 3keV.

  • Purpose: Rigid gas permeable (RGP) contact lenses, based on fluorosilicone acrylate, were treated with plasma in air. Methods: The chemical compositions were analyzed by using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), the surface morphology and roughness of RGP contact lenses were observed by using atomic force microscopy (AFM), and the wettability changes were estimated by wetting angle measurement. Results: As the contact lenses were treated by the plasma, the F contents decreased significantly, and the O and Si contents increased on the surface. The number of oxygen-containing hydrophilic radicals (C-O and Si-O) increased greatly, the hydrophobic surface decreased, and the wetting angle increased. But the C-O bonds created with exchange of the fluorine did not increase a wettability. The surface compositions were not remarkably changed for the 6 months after plasma treatment, but the wetting angle increased again. Conclusions: It was considered that the improved wettability of the RGP contact lenses of high fluorine content after plasma treatment was affected by the activation of surface, the increase of Si-O, and the decrease of hydrophobic surface.

  • The a-C:H films have been grown on the glass substrate by PECVD mathod, where plasma was generated with a 60Hz line power source. The carbonization is checked from peak intensities of D($sp^3$) and G($sp^2$) peaks in Raman spectra. The hydronization and C-H bonding status in films can also be determined from FTIR results. Both the bonding strength of C-H and the ratio of $sp^3$ to $sp^2$ in bonding are found to be slightly dependent of partial pressure of $C_2H_2$. Judging from above results, we can conclude that the best value for partial pressure of $C_2H_2$ in growing process of thick films is about 15%.

Plasma focus consisted of two coaxial electrodes is a device that translated from electric energy of maximum 40 kV/20 kJ in capacitor banks into visible light by electric discharge. Spectral analysis is using Monochromator(f =0.5m). Time-resolved spectrum is analyzed with a oscilloscope the light pulse of constant wavelength and time-integrated spectrum does with densitometer the film which developed a constant range of wavelength. • Using ray-optics code incorporated with three-dimensional PDP cell simulation, we have analysed the energy flow in the PDP cell from the electric power input to the visible light output. Also, the visible light output profile and viewing angle distribution were obtained. We applied our code to the analysis of the barrier rib height effect on the visible light luminance and efficiency of the sustaining discharge. Although cells with higher barrier rib generate more VUV photons, less ratio of visible photons are emitted toward front panel due to the shadow effect. Thus, there exists optimal barrier rib height giving the highest visible luminance and efficiency. This kind of code can be a powerful tool in designing cell geometry.
