ECR-PECVD 방법으로 증착한 Diamond-Like carbon 박막의 광 특성 (Optical properties of diamond-like carbon films deposited by ECR-PECVD method)

  • ECR-PECVD 방법을 이용하여 ECR power, $CH_4/H_2$ 가스 혼합비와 유량, 증착시간을 고정 시켜놓고 기판 bias 전압을 변화 시켜가면서 유리 기판위에 DLC 박막을 제작하였다. Raman, FTIR 및 UV/Vis 스펙트럼을 측정하여 기판 bias 진압에 따른 이용 충돌이 박막의 특성 변화에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. FTIR 분석결과로부터 기판 bias 전압을 증가시킬수록 이용충돌 현상이 두드러져 탄소와 결합하고 있던 수소원자들의 탈수소화 현상을 확인할 수 있었고, 박막의 두께는 bias 전압을 증가시킬수록 감소되었다. 그리고 Raman 스펙트럼으로부터 Gaussian curve fitting을 통하여 sp3/sp2의 결합수에 비례하는 D/G피크의 면적 강도비(ID/IG)는 기판 bias 전압을 증가시킬수록 증가하였다. 그리고 광 투과율은 증착시간을 길게 할수록, 기판 bias 전압을 크게할수록 감소하였으나, 박막의 밀도가 증가하고 더 매끄러운 DLC 박막이 형성되었다. 이 결과로부터 DLC 박막은 기판 bias 전압의 크기를 증가시킬수록 특성이 더 향상됨을 알 수 있었다.

  • 레이저 샥 피닝(LSP)은 금속재료 표면처리를 위한 획기적인 기술로서 금속 부품의 피로성능 개선을 위해 최근에 널리 적용되고 있다. 널리 알려진 바와 같이 금속재료의 피로 균열은 재료의 응력 상태가 인장(Tension)하에서만 발생되고, 압축(Compression)상태에서는 발생하지 않는다. 따라서 피로수명 개선을 위해 전통적인 샷 피닝(SP)과 함께 다양한 분야에 응용되고 있으며, 특히 LSP 는 금속재료의 표면과 깊이방향에 대해 높은 압축잔류응력을 생성시켜 준다. 본 논문에서는 유한요소 해석기법을 이용하여 LSP 에 의해 발생되는 압축잔류응력 생성과정을 모사하고, 압축잔류응력에 영향을 미치는 다양한 변수에 대해 민감도 해석을 수행하였다.

새로운 피라졸로피리미디논 유도체 DA-8159의 일반약리작용 (General Pharmacology of DA-8159, a New Pyrazolopyrimidinone Derivative)

  • General pharmacological properties of DA-8159, a new pyrazolopyrimidinone derivative were examined in laboratory animals to investigate its safety profile. The oral administration of DA-8159 (1, 5 or 30 mg/kg) in mice and rats had no effect on general behaviors and central nervous system of the animals in test systems, such as hexobarbital-induced sleeping time, motor coordination, normal body temperature, writhing syndromes induced by 0.75% acetic acid solution, chemo-shock produced by pentetrazole solution and rotar rod test. Anesthetized cats treated intravenously with DA-8159 (0.1, 0.3, 1, 3 or 10 mg/kg) showed transient and mild decrease in blood pressure. However, heart rate, respiration rate and tidal volume were not changed by intravenous DA-8159. In the isolated organs including ileum, heart (sinus rate of atria and contractility of papillary muscle), trachea of guinea pigs and phrenic nerve of rats, DA-8159 ($10^{-8}$$10^{-5}$ mg/L) did not elicit any effect or inhibitory action on the chemically or electrically stimulated contraction. DA-8159 did not influence gastric secretion, pH and total acid output in rats and intestinal propulsion in mice. The administration of DA-8159 in rats had no effect on the platelet aggregation induced by ADP in rabbit plasma, urinary volume and electrolyte ion ($Na^{+}$, $K^{+}$, $Cl^{-}$) excretion in rats. Prothrombin time (PT) of the rats showed a mild but significant increase after administration of DA-8159. Activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), however, was not affected by DA-8159. These results indicate that DA-8159 does not exert any of serious pharmacological effects.

LM 가이드의 내마모성 향상을 위한 Me-DLC 코팅박막의 성능평가 (The Performance Test on Me-DLC Films for Improving Wear Resistance of LM-Guide)

  • Recently, surface modification technology is of importance to improve the wear resistance and the corrosive resistance for high accurate mechanical parts such as LM guide, Ball Screw and Roller Bearing etc., Those has generally featured on rolling contact mechanism to improve not only the wear and the friction, but also the accuracy and the corrosion performances. For surface modifications of high accurate mechanical parts, normally thermal spray, PVD, CVD and E.P. processes have been used with many materials such as DLC, raydent, W, Ni, Ti etc. Diamondlike carbon (DLC) films possess a combination of attractive properties and have been largely employed to modify the tribological behaviors such as friction, wear, corrosion, fretting fatigue, biocompatibility, etc. However, for rolling contact mechanism mechanical parts DLC films are needed to study for commercial benefit. Rolling contact mechanism has features on effects of cyclic motions and stresses, and also not simply sliding motions. The papers focused on the performance test of wear and corrosive resistance according to Me-DLC film thickness. And also, its thickness effect of wear analysis was carried out through the simulation of the maximum shear stress under the rolling contact surface. As the results, Me-DLC films have more potential to improve the wear resistance for high precision mechanical parts than raydent films.

스크래치 시험을 통한 DLC 박막 파손과 밀착 특성 평가 (Evaluation of Failure Modes and Adhesion of DLC Films by Scratch Test)

  • In order to characterize the adhesive properties and failure mechanisms of diamond-like carbon (DLC) films of two different thicknesses (130 nm and $1.2{\mu}m$), deposited by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition on a Si substrate, scratch testing with a micro-indenter ($12.5{\mu}m$ tip radius) was performed under a linearly increasing load. These scratch tests were conducted under the same test conditions for both films. The critical load of each film was estimated from the scratch test results, based on a sharp increase in the coefficient of friction and a clear distinction of failure modes. The critical load was the basis for evaluating the adhesion strength of the films, and the $1.2{\mu}m-thick$ DLC film had superior adhesion strength. For better understanding of the failure modes, the following analyses were conducted: friction behavior and scratch tracks analysis using scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive spectroscopy, and 3-D profilometry. The scratch test results showed that failure modes were related to the thickness of the films. The 130 nm-thick DLC film underwent cohesive failure modes (cracks and chipping) before reaching to a gross failure stage. On the other hand, the thicker DLC film ($1.2{\mu}m-thick$) did not exhibit micro cracks before a sudden gross failure of the film together with the evidence of cracking and chipping of the Si substrate.

양식넙치 Paralichthys olivaceus의 성장단계별, 계절별 혈액학적 성상비교 (Comparison of Hematological Properties in Cultured Olive Flounder Paralichthys olivaceus on Different Growth Stages and Seasons)

  • 이 연구는 양식산 넙치의 성장단계별 및 계절에 따른 생리학적 반응과 혈액학적 요소들을 파악하고자 하였으며, 분석된 항목으로는 hematocrit, red blood cell, hemoglobin, 글루코스, 콜레스테롤, 총단백질, AST, ALT, $Na^+,\;K^+,\;Cl^-,\;Ca^{2+},\;Mg^{2+}$, osmolality, 코티졸 및 $T_3$였다. 성장단계별 혈액학적 성상에 있어 $T_3$는 어류의 크기가 클수록 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. 반면, 콜레스테롤은 어체의 크기가 클수록 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 계절별 혈액학적 성상에 있어 Ht와 RBC는 가을에 가장 높은 수준을 나타냈다. 코티졸은 모든 그룹에서 $2.2{\pm}0.4{\sim}4.3{\pm}1.9ng/m{\ell}$의 농도를 보였다. 나머지 혈액학적 요소는 성장단계별, 계절별로 특이한 차이를 나타내지 않았다. 본 연구에서 분석 비교한 각종 혈액학적 요소의 측정값은 양식산 넙치의 생리활성 평가에 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Activation of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma induces anti-inflammatory properties in the chicken free avian respiratory macrophages

  • Background: Activation of peroxisome proliferator activated receptor gamma ($PPAR{\gamma}$) in the alveolar macrophages (AM) by selective synthetic $PPAR{\gamma}$ ligands, improves the ability of the cells to resolve inflammation. In birds, respiratory macrophages are known as free avian respiratory macrophages (FARM) and show distinct functional differences from AM. The effects of treating FARM with $PPAR{\gamma}$ ligands are unclear. Methods: FARM were harvested by lavage of chicken respiratory tract and their morphology assessed at microscopic level. The effects of $PPAR{\gamma}$ agonists on the FARM in vitro viability, phagocytic capacity and proinflammatory cytokine (TNF-${\alpha}$) production were assessed. Results: FARM had eccentric nucleus and plasma membrane ruffled with filopodial extensions. Ultrastructurally, numerous vesicular bodies presumed to be lysosomes were present. FARM treated with troglitazone, a selective $PPAR{\gamma}$ agonist, had similar in vitro viability with untreated FARM. However, treated FARM co-cultured with polystyrene particles, internalized more particles with a mean volume density of 41 % compared to that of untreated FARM of 21 %. Further, treated FARM significantly decreased LPS-induced TNF-${\alpha}$ production in a dose dependent manner. Conclusion: Results from this study show that $PPAR{\gamma}$ synthetic ligands enhance phagocytic ability of FARM. Further the ligands attenuate production of proinflammatory cytokines in the FARM, suggesting potential therapeutic application of $PPAR{\gamma}$ ligands in the management of respiratory inflammatory disorders in the poultry industry.

탄소, 질소 및 산소의 충돌이온화평형에서의 전하교환 효과 (CHARGE EXCHANGE EFFECTS IN COLLISIONAL IONIZATION EQUILIBRIUM OF C, N, AND O IONS)

  • 수소와의 충돌에 의한 전하교환은 천체플라즈마의 물리적 특성에 매우 중요한 영향을 미친다. 이 논문에서는 탄소, 질소 및 산소에 대해 전하교환(charge exchange)을 고려하여 약 1,000--80,000K의 온도에서의 충돌이온화평형(collisional ionization equilibrium)상태를 연구하였다. 온도에 따른 이온함량비(ionic abundance fraction)를 기존의 전하교환을 고려하지 않은 경우와 비교하였다. 이 논문에서 계산된 이온함량비는 충돌이온화평형상태의 중온성간물질(warm interstellar medium, $T{\sim}10^4K$)의 분광학적인 특성을 이해하는데 사용될 수 있다. 또한, 산소의 이온화정도(degree of ionization)와 수소의 이온화정도의 비율이 충돌이온화가 중요하지 않은 경우에 잘 알려진 값과 많은 차이가 있음을 발견하였다. 이 차이는 중온성간물질에서의 충돌이온화에 대한 연구가 필요함을 의미한다.

Bile Acid Inhibition of N-type Calcium Channel Currents from Sympathetic Ganglion Neurons

  • Under some pathological conditions as bile flow obstruction or liver diseases with the enterohepatic circulation being disrupted, regurgitation of bile acids into the systemic circulation occurs and the plasma level of bile acids increases. Bile acids in circulation may affect the nervous system. We examined this possibility by studying the effects of bile acids on gating of neuronal (N)-type $Ca^{2+}$ channel that is essential for neurotransmitter release at synapses of the peripheral and central nervous system. N-type $Ca^{2+}$ channel currents were recorded from bullfrog sympathetic neuron under a cell-attached mode using 100 mM $Ba^{2+}$ as a charge carrier. Cholic acid (CA, $10^{-6}M$) that is relatively hydrophilic thus less cytotoxic was included in the pipette solution. CA suppressed the open probability of N-type $Ca^{2+}$ channel, which appeared to be due to an increase in (no activity) sweeps. For example, the proportion of sweep in the presence of CA was ~40% at +40 mV as compared with ~8% in the control recorded without CA. Other single channel properties including slope conductance, single channel current amplitude, open and shut times were not significantly affected by CA being present. The results suggest that CA could modulate N-type $Ca^{2+}$ channel gating at a concentration as low as $10^{-6}M$. Bile acids have been shown to activate nonselective cation conductance and depolarize the cell membrane. Under pathological conditions with increased circulating bile acids, CA suppression of N-type $Ca^{2+}$ channel function may be beneficial against overexcitation of the synapses.

성상세포종양에서 혈관내피증식인자의 발현 - 종양주변부 부종 및 미세혈관과의 상관관계 - (Expression of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor in Astrocytic Tumors - Correlation to Peritumoral Brain Edema and Microvasculature -)

  • Objectives : It has been known that vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF), as an endothelial cell-specific mitogen, induces angiogenesis, and possesses vascular permeability and procoagulant properties. Peritumoral brain edema(PTBE) is a common accompaniment of malignant gliomas. It results from microvascular extravasation of plasma and proteins through the interendothelial spaces. The correlation between pathological grading, PTBE, neovascularization, and the expression of VEGF were analyzed in 31 patients with astrocytic tumors. Methods : Astrocytic tumor samples(8 astrocytomas, 14 anaplastic astrocytomas, and 9 glioblastomas) from 31 patients( 21 males and 10 females : average age $37{\pm}24$ years) who underwent surgery were examined retrospectively for the expression of VEGF and CD31(microvasculature) immunohistochemically. The extent of PTBE was examined by using preoperative CT or MRI as an edema index(EI). In addition to VEGF and CD31, several causative factors including tumor size, histologic type were compared with EI. Results : Only one of 8 astrocytomas, and majority of high grade(21 of 23 anaplastic astrocytomas and glioblastomas) tumors demonstrated PTBE(p<0.05). The majority of high grade tumors showed higher expression of VEGF (p<0.01). High grade tumors showed even higher CD31 expression(p<0.05), however, there was no close correlation between expression of VEGF and CD31. The EI was increased significantly, just as VEGF(p<0.01), but CD31 expression was not correlated with high EI. Conclusion : These data suggest that VEGF expression is closely correlated with PTBE and histological grading in astrocytic tumors. Microvasculature(CD31) in tumors is highly correlated with histological grading, however, shows no correlation with the expression of VEGF and PTBE.
