액상소결 시의 β-SiC의 입자성장 방지 (Prevention of Grain Growth during the Liquid-Phase Assisted Sintering of β-SiC)

  • In our previous studies, continuous SiC fiber-reinforced SiC-matrix composites ($SiC_f$/SiC) had been fabricated by two different slurry infiltration methods: vacuum infiltration and electrophoretic deposition (EPD). 12 wt% of $Al_2O_3-Y_2O_3$-MgO with respect to SiC powder was used as additives for liquid-phase assisted sintering. After hot pressing at $1750^{\circ}C$ under 20 MPa for 2 h in Ar atmosphere, a high composite density could be achieved for both cases, whereas the problems such as large grain size and non-uniform distribution of liquid phase were observed, which was resulted in the relatively poor mechanical properties of composites. Therefore, efforts have been made to reduce the grain growth during the sintering, including the optimization for hot pressing condition and utilization of spark plasma sintering using a SiC monolith. Based on the results, spark plasma sintering was found to be effective method in decreasing the amount of sintering additive, time and grain growth, which will be explained in comparison to the results of hot pressing in this paper.

Oxidatvive Stress in Rat Model of Preeclampsia and Clinical Correlates

  • There are growing evidences suggesting a pivotal role of oxidative stress in the pathophysiology of preeclampsia. We investigated oxidative stress in the rat model of preeclampsia, and in clinical cases. Pregnant female rats were injected intraperitoneally with deoxycorticosterone acetate (DOCA) and given 0.9% saline as drinking water during their pregnancy. We assessed plasma $F_2-isoprostane(8-iso-PGF_{2{\alpha})$ and malondialdehyde (MDA) in a rat model, and the same markers in the plasma of maternal blood and fetal cord blood in pregnant women with preclampsia. Blood samples from the umbilical arteries and veins were collected separately. The concentrations of MDA were increased in the preeclampsia groups of animal and humans, compared with the control group; it was significantly increased in the umbilical artery and vein of the preeclampsia group. The concentrations of $F_2-isoprostane$ were elevated in the preeclampsia groups of animal and humans, compared with the control group, and the increase in $F_2-isoprostane$ concentration was prominent in the umbilical vein than umbilical artery of the preeclampsia group. Therefore, it appears that the placenta has an important role in the pathophysiology of preeclampsia, and the $F_2-isoprostane$ of the umbilical vein may serve as a relatively reliable marker for ischemic/hypoxic injury to the fetus during the perinatal period.

High Frequency and High Luminance AC-PDP Sustaining Driver

  • Plasma display panels (PDPs) have a serious thermal problem, because the luminance efficiency of a conventional PDP is about 1.5 1m/W and it is less than $3\~5\;lm/W$ of a cathode ray tube (CRT). Thus there is a need for improving the luminance efficiency of the PDP. There are several approaches to improve the luminance efficiency of the PDP and we adopted a driving PDP at high frequency range from 400kHz up to over 700kHz. Since a PDP is regarded as an equivalent inherent capacitance, many types of sustaining drivers have been proposed and widely used to recover the energy stored in the PDP. However, these circuits have some drawbacks for driving PDPs at high frequency ranges. In this paper, we investigate the effect of the parasitic components on the PDP itself and on the driver when the reactive energy of the panel is recovered. Various drivers are classified and evaluated based on their suitability for high frequency drivers. Finally, a current-fed driver with a DC input voltage bias is proposed. This driver overcomes the effect of parasitic components in the panel and driver. It fully achieves a ZVS of all full-bridge switches and reduces the transition time of the panel polarity. It is tested to validate the high frequency sustaining driver and the experimental results are presented.

A New High Efficiency Phase Shifted Full Bridge Converter for a Power Sustaining Module of Plasma Display Panel

  • A new high efficiency phase shifted full bridge (PSFB) converter for the power sustaining module of a plasma display panel (PDP) is proposed in this paper. The proposed converter employs a voltage doubler rectifier without an output inductor. Since it has no output inductor, the voltage stresses of the secondary rectifier diodes can be clamped at the output voltage level. No dissipative resistor-capacitor (RC) snubber for rectifier diodes is needed. Therefore, high efficiency, as well as, a low noise output voltage can be realized. Due to the elimination of the large output inductor, it features a simple structure, lower cost, smaller mass and lighter weight. Furthermore, the proposed converter has wide zero voltage switching (ZVS) ranges with low current stresses of the primary switches. Also the resonance between the leakage inductor of the transformer and the capacitor of the voltage doubler cell reduces the current stresses of the rectifier diodes. In this paper, operational principles, an analysis of the proposed converter and experimental results are presented.

  • High efficiency and low cost sustain driver for plasma display panel (PDP) with current fed is proposed. Main concept of the proposed circuit is using the current source to charge and discharge panel. As a result, all power switches can achieve the zero voltage switching (ZVS) and every auxiliary switch can also do the zero current switching (ZCS). Moreover, since the inductor current can compensate the discharge current, the current stress of all power switches can be reduced considerably. Furthermore, it has features as a simpler structure, less mass, less cost, and lower electromagnetic interference than prior circuit.

  • 기존의 비대칭 하프브릿지 컨버터로부터 변형된 새로운 고효율 DC/DC 컨버터를 제안한다. 제안된 컨버터는 기존의 비대칭 하프브릿지 컨버터와 비교하여 넓은 ZVS영역을 가지므로 넓은 부하 범위에 걸쳐서 높은 효율을 자랑한다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 하프브릿지 컨버터와 비교하여 제안된 컨버터의 기본동작 및 특성을 분석하였으며, PDP TV 유지전원단 사양의 425W, 385-170Vdc 시험모델을 제작하여 실험결과를 통하여 제안된 컨버터의 우수성을 입증하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 탄소나노튜브를 성장시키기 전 과정인 전처리시 촉매 층에 인가되는 마이크로웨이브 파워에 따른 탄소나노튜브의 성장 및 특성 변화를 관찰하였다. 촉매층으로 사용되는 Ni층과 adhesion층으로 사용되는 Ti층은 마그네트론 스퍼터링 방식으로 증착하였고, 탄소나노튜브 성장에는 마이크로웨이브 플라즈마 화학기상 증착기를 사용하였다 탄소나노튜브의 성장특성은 평면과 단면 SEM image를 통하여 관찰하였으며, Raman spectrometer 분석을 통하여 성장된 탄소나노튜브의 구조적 특성을 알아보았다.

수소발생용 비열플라즈마 반응기에서의 펄스파워 영향 (The Effect of pulse power in the non-thermal plasma reactor for Hydrogen generation)

  • 본 논문에서는 인가 전극구조가 다른 두가지 형태의 아크성 스트리머 방전용 플라즈마 반응기를 설계 제작하였다. 제작된 반응기에 60 Hz상용전원과 펄스파워를 인가전원으로 사용하여 반응기 형태와 인가전원에 따른 수소발생 특성에 대하여 조사하였다. 또한 방전 전력에 따른 수소발생량을 비교 분석하였다. 수소 발생을 위한 효과적인 수표면 방전은 강한 전계 집중과 높은 에너지 밀도를 동반한 아크성 스트리머 방전 분위기 형성이 필요하다. 인가전원으로 상용전원을 이용한 경우보다 펄스파워를 사용한 경우와 강한 전계집중 증대를 위해 인가 전극이 석영관 내에 배치된 전극 구조에서 수소발생에 효과적이였다.

플라즈마 전해산화 처리된 마그네슘 합금의 내부식성에 미치는 코팅층 내 지르코니아 입자 영향 (Influence of ZrO2 Particulates on Corrosion Resistance of Magnesium Alloy Coated by Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation)

  • In current automobile and electronic industries, the use of magnesium alloys where both energy and weight saving are attainable is increasing. Despite their light weight, there has been an inherent drawback arising from the surface vulnerable to be oxidized with ease, specifically under corrosive environments. To protect magnesium alloy from corrosion, the present work deals with the electrochemical response of the oxide layer on magnesium alloy specimen prepared by plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) method in an electrolyte with zirconia powder. Surface observation using scanning electron microscopy evidences that a number of zirconia particles are effectively incorporated into oxide layer. From the results of potentio-dynamic tests in 3.5 wt% NaCl solution, the PEO-treated sample containing zirconia particles shows better corrosion properties than that without zirconia, which is the result of zirconia incorporation into the coating layer. Corrosion resistance is also measured by utilizing salt spray tests for 120 hrs.

알루미늄 기지에 알루미늄-알루미나 혼합분말을 이용한 고온플라즈마 열분사 코팅층의 밀착강도 향상기구 (Improvement of Adhesion Strength of High Temperature Plasma Coated Aluminum Substrate with Aluminum-Alumina Powder Mixture)

  • 본 연구에서는 손상된 알루미늄 금형의 복원을 위해 고온플라즈마 용사법을 이용하여 금형의 표면에 $Al/Al_2O_3$ 혼합분말을 용사한 후 코팅층과 모재의 증착강도에 대한 평가를 수행하였다. 증착강도의 평가는 분사노즐의 이동속도, 순수한 알루미늄 bond coat 층의 유무에 따라 평가되었으며, bond coat 층을 생성시키지 않았을 때, 코팅층의 두께는 열팽창에 의한 잔류인장응력의 감소를 위해 두껍지 않아야 하지만 일정두께 이상이 되어야 최대의 증착강도를 얻을 수 있음이 나타났다. 또한 순수한 알루미늄 bond coat 층은 내부 결함이 없는 응고된 금속이기 때문에 두께에 따른 증착강도의 영향을 그대로 받아 두께가 두꺼울수록 bond coat 층을 생성시키지 않은 시험편보다 증착강도가 매우 낮게 측정되었다. 반면, 가장 얇게 bond coating 된 시험편 Bc3(3회의 bond coating층과 분사건의 이동속도가 20 cm/sec인 시험편) 는 bond coating을 하지 않은 시험편 중 가장 높은 증착강도를 가지는 시험편 Wbc20(bond coating층이 없고 분사건의 이동속도가 20 cm/sec인 시험편)보다 약 2배 이상증착강도가 향상되었다. 따라서 금형의 복원시에 중간층의 형성이 반드시 필요하며, 이는 코팅층의 잔류 인장응력을 보완시키며 고인성의 순수한 알루미늄과 같은 코팅층과 유사한 층을 코팅하는 것이 필요한 것으로 사료된다.
