  • 1,12-diazacyclodocosane-2,11-dione was first isolated from a plant Phyllanthus niruri Linn. Its structure has been determined by means of spectroscopy methods and X-ray crystallography. Two peptide groups in the big ring (lactam) are the main factors influencing intermolecular contacts. The hydrogen-bond interaction of these hydrophilic groups is observed in the crystal structure. Meanwhile, C-H···O hydrogen bonds in molecules contribute to the formation of the whole crystal. These two kinds of hydrogen-bond form six- member rings among molecules. This compound crystallizes in the triclinic space group P-1 with a= 9.588(1) $\AA$, b= $9.850(1)\AA$, c = $11.810(1)\AA$, $\alpha=$ 68.18(1)$^{\circ}C$ , $\beta=$ 84.98(1), $\gamma$ = 86.03(1)$^{\circ}C$ , V = $1030.66(17)\AA3$ , Z = 2. A disorder of five-member carbon chain in the whole ring is observed in the title compound. The bond angle 105.8(4) is determined for a extreme configuration C(14)-C(15)-C(16), and 117.7(10) for another extreme configuration C(14')-C(15')-C(16'). In this crystal, two molecules are tied each other by short intermolecular hydrogen bonds, the oxygen atom being tied by hydrogen bond to nitrogen atom of another two molecules. The NMR and IR spectral data coincides to the structure of the compound.

  • This paper deals with a parametric study on cooling channel configurations to enhance the cooling effect. As a cooling effect has been increased, the exhaust gas by the plant from a manufacture is becoming deceased. To solve this problem, the design of a efficient cooling system is needed. In this paper, the cooling channel was analyzed to improve the cooling performance. The heat transfer rates depending on the number of baffle and the heiht of fin were obtained by using numerical simulation method. Three-dimensional Reynolds-averaged Naiver-Stokes equations were used to estimate flow and heat transfer in cooling channel, and the $k-{\varepsilon}$ model for turbulence closure was employed.

  • The influent and effluent baffle configurations seriously affect the hydraulic characteristics of the secondary clarifier in wastewater treatment plant. In this study, those baffle configurations were optimized by computational fluid dynamics(CFD) analysis and particle image velocity(PIV) test in order to obtain uniform flow in inlet region and to minimize upflow velocity in outlet region of the secondary clarifier. Theoretical analysis using CFD showed that more uniform flow could be accomplished when the influent baffle was located closely to the inlet opening. Effects of effluent baffle configuration on the upflow velocity in the outlet region of the secondary clarifier were analyzed with four types of effluent baffles which are widely adopted for secondary clarifier design. From the CFD analysis, McKinney baffle(EB-2) was estimated to be the most effective for restraining the upflow velocity in the outlet region and these trends were identified by PIV tests. In addition, the McKinney baffle showed the most uniform overflow velocity distribution around the weir.

  • Process design and performance evaluation were made for medium-size gasification combined/cogeneration plant. Based on the designed plant process configuration, the effects of $NO_x$ reduction techniques on the $NO_x$ emission, the power output, the efficiency and the stability of plant are investigated by applying various $NO_x$ reduction methods such as unsaturated/saturated nitrogen injection and fuel saturation of gas turbine combustor. The $NO_x$ reduction by nitrogen injection is more remarkable than that by fuel saturation, and its effect can be more enhanced by using saturated nitrogen. In addition, the applications of $NO_x$ reduction techniques accompany the improvement of plant power output and efficiency with the decrease of $NO_x$ emission, while it can cause unstable gas turbine operation.

  • On this study, a multipurpose operating system was developed to adjust a configuration of a moving path which have no connection with a form of greenhouse. To being performance the multipurpose working system, we have experienced growth quality on the plants in greenhouse. Some of the results are as follows. While watering by the hand spray. the condition of plant was generally no good. It was shown that plant height and leaf area were all high without wind during watering by the automatic spray. The effect to retrain a plant growth was high as a ventilation was strong. The diameter of a plant stem was small without ventilation condition during watering 3 times by automatic spray. The number of leaf was relatively large during 3 times by automatic spray compared to 2 times by automatic spray or hand spray. Growth of plant was fast as the times of spray were large.

  • Even though Ac/Ds gene-tagging systems have been established in many higher plants, maize is the only major plant in which short-distance transposition of Ac/Ds has been utilized to probe gene function. This study was performed to evaluate the efficiency of obtaining new alleles and functional revertants from Ds insertion loci in rice. By analyzing 1,580 plants and the progeny of selected lines, the insertion sites and orientations of Ds elements within 16 new heritable alleles of three rice loci were identified and characterized. Intragenic transposition was detected in both directions from the original insertion sites. The closest interval was 35 bp. Three of the alleles had two Ds elements in cis configuration in the same transcription units. We also analyzed the excision footprints of intragenic and extragenic transpositions in Ds-inserted alleles at 5 loci. The 134 footprints obtained from different plants revealed predominant patterns. Ds excision at each locus left a predominant footprint at frequencies of 30-75%. Overall, 66% of the footprints were 7-bp additions. In addition, 16% of the excisions left 0-, 3-, 6-, and 9-bp additions with the potential of conserving reading frame.

  • The simulators for a plant unit master control (UMC) developed by domestic or overseas researchers have been developed for operator-training purposes. UMC simulators normally constructed at the end of the plant construction, despite the UMC logics, should be simulated to pre-check many signal interfaces within the power generation systems. Because of the differences in construction schedule, it is difficult for logic designers or commissioning engineers to simulate the UMC logic during the design or commissioning stage. In this background, this paper proposes a simulation method that can be used easily by plant logic designers or operators in the MATLAB Simulink programming environment. The core of the UMC is realized with a unique simulation algorithm based on mathematical analysis and functional blocks combination. In addition, an integer-based configuration was proposed to realize the plant target value control for the equipment in the logic. With these simulation methods, functions, e.g., load distribution, high-low limitations, frequency compensation, etc. were simulated. The results showed that the plant UMC logic can be simulated in Simulink without a plant simulator. The various functions proposed in this paper can provide useful information about Simulink-based simulation design for plant logic designers or commissioning engineers during the power plant construction period.

  • In the development of a Risk Monitor probabilistic safety assessment (PSA) model from the basic PSA model of a nuclear power plant, the modeling of common-cause failure (CCF) is very important. At present, some approximate modeling methods are widely used, but there lacks criterion of modeling accuracy and error analysis. In this paper, aiming at ensuring the accuracy of risk assessment and minimizing the Risk Monitor PSA models size, we present three basic issues of CCF model resulted from the changes of a nuclear power plant configuration, put forward corresponding modeling methods, and derive accuracy criteria of CCF modeling based on minimum cut sets and risk indicators according to the requirements of risk monitoring. Finally, a nuclear power plant Risk Monitor PSA model is taken as an example to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed modeling method and accuracy criteria, and the application scope of the idea of this paper is also discussed.

  • The field of power system harmonics has been receiving a great deal of attention recently. This is primarily due to the fact that non-linear (or harmonic-producing) loads comprise an ever-increasing portion of what is handled at a typical industrial plant. The incidence rate of harmonic-related problems is low, but awareness of harmonic issues can still help increase offshore power plant system reliability. On the rare occasion that harmonics become a problem, this is either due to the magnitude of harmonics produced or power system resonance. This harmonic study used an electrical configuration for the offloading scenario of a Floating LNG (FLNG) unit, considering power load. This electrical network configuration is visible in the electrical network load flow study part of the project. This study has been carried out to evaluate the performance of an electric power system, focusing on the harmonic efficiency of an electrically driven motor system to ensure offshore plant safety. In addition, the design part of this study analyzed the electric power system of an FLNG unit to improve the safety of operation and maintenance.
