The purpose of this study is to classify the building layout and plan types according to the urban location, use and function of civil and to analyze the characteristics by the type classified. After constructing a framework (Mathia type, Nagaya type, Detached House type) for analyzing Modern Private Housing Architecture in Gunsan, the research was conducted on 30 representative buildings, and a plot plan, a floor plan and elevation were created. After analyzing the relationship between the lot of land and the urban street, we classified the type of arrangement into Mathia type and Nagaya type which directly enter the building from the road, and derived the Detached House type which indirectly enters from the road. When we look at the use of the derived arrangement types, most of the Mathia type are commercial and residential buildings, and some of them are specially designed for commercial buildings. The Nagaya type appears in the form of commercial and residential house or residential private house, and the Detached House type is classified as residential style. As a relation with the urban street, the Mathia type and the Nagaya type are generally located on the main urban street, whereas the Detached House type is located on the small urban street. As a result of analyzing, the floor plan was changed according to the plot plan. The plan of the Mathia and Nagaya type are arranged to enter directly from the street, with commercial space being mainly located on the street, and the residential space being composed on the back or the second floor. the plan of the Detached House is a type that enters indirectly into the interior through a separate space (Courtyard), and forms an organic space between the residential interior and the front and rear yard. The purpose of this study is to investigate the Characteristics of a plot plan and a floor plan of Modern Private Housing Architecture in Gunsan by means of analysis considering the urban street, Uses of buildings, Construction method and the yard through actual measurement.

This research was conducted to suggest some directions for desirable urban green space planning through 1) establishing a new classification system by examining the existing concept, problems and characteristics of green space and 2) defining the essence of green space environment and finding some analytical and evaluative methods through a clear establishment of functions, indicators of green space. In the research, measurements of the amount of green space was accompanied with measurements of green covered space, green volume, and the structure of greenery within the frame of vision. As result, three-dimensional measurement was possible, three-dimensional measurement was possible, which turned out to be more effective than the existing 2-dimensional measuring method. It is found that the ratio of green covered space is to proportional to the ratio of green volume in this study. Therefore in green space planning process it is desirable to consider the ratio of green volume all together.

When designing space environment including house, there are growing consideration for elderly and extending appreciation of aging. The purpose of this study is to investigate the perception on environment planning for the seniors among university students who majoring in Housing & Interior Design and who visited the Aging Simulation Center located in Seoul. The Aging Simulation Center gives a chance of space design to support the elderly based on the experiences of daily living for the designers who design environment for elderly. Questionnaire survey was conducted to obtain data from 93 university students in their 20s majoring in housing and interior design who visited the Aging Simulation Center. The research findings showed that the recognition for design elements of residential environment for the elderly of respondents was changed toward positive way after visiting the Aging Simulation Center. The Aging Simulation Center was an effective educational environment for the preliminary designers to understand aging and the importance of appropriate design for users' needs. That is, aging simulation space can improve recognition of necessity of universally designed environment to support the elderly. Handrails around bathtub and wash basin, stair slope, electric auto-level controlled kitchen counter and kitchen cabinet were especially perceived for the respondents as very essential design elements to support the aged.
In the planning process, there are five directions to planning residential sites. Firstly, the site must be planned to allow continuity with the city space, or created to conform to the city structure. Secondly, plans for community space and programs as well as convenience facilities must coexist in the road space. Thirdly, in terms of view, the site must be planned in territories to secure identity of the site. Fourthly, in terms of the environment, the site should utilize the natural environment. Lastly, in terms of infrastructure, the site should include a pedestrian-centered road system as well as establishing city infrastructure facilities for a combined planning in the municipal dimension. So far we have looked at planning methods for an apartment site that can be integrated into the existing city. The study into five elements to planning a large-scale apartment site, context, community, landscape, environment and infrastructure, and their relationship among each other must continue on.
