Classification of Urban Arterial Roads Based on Traffic Characteristics (교통특성에 따른 도시간선도로 위계분류법)

  • Studies on classification of national roads have been continued, but there is little research on the classification of urban arterial roads. Due to the increase of traffic volume, urban arterial roads do not perform well as main roads. In this paper, the function of urban arterial road was established by using cluster analysis using traffic characteristics. Traffic characteristics such as traffic volume, weekend coefficient and speed coefficient were used to establish the functions of 55 main arterial roads in Seoul. The results of this paper are compared with those of the method using AADT. The method using AADT classifies the characteristics according to the traffic volume of the whole lane. In this paper, however, the results are derived using the traffic volume per lane reflecting the actual traffic volume. In addition, the functional classification of the arterial roads in Seoul was compared with the results of this paper to verify that the traffic characteristics were reflected. As a result, the method presented in this paper is more effective in showing traffic characteristics than the current highway functional classification method, and the functional classification system will be helpful for road extension and planning design.

  • Many construction companies have developed many kinds of information system to integrate the information created in the phase of planning, design, procurement, construction, and maintenance of construction project. However, the previous researches for the state of applying information technologies and the efforts of the analysis of the present information system launched in domestic construction industry is very rare. There also has been short of research on the construction decision-making support theory in construction business and industry. Hence this paper would contribute in identifying the state of information technologies and the theory of decision-making support of the information system in general construction company. and suggest the characteristic model on the information system for the construction decision-making support. The model consists of the two dimensions; (1) organizational hierarchy (2) data analyzing technology. This research, especially, can be expected to initiate the discussion on framework for understanding the construction decision-making support system in construction industry. The model is nut a practical methodology, but a window that offers a new perspective un sources of information system in each construction company, and thus can provide a clue of the useful guide to construction information system development.

The adapted research method of selected case five apartment building in D new town and carried out questionnaire survey to residents and user for draw items of feasibility evaluation. Drew items of feasibility evaluation classify as Plan section, Design section, and Operation section and evaluate the weight of each section utilizing analytical hierarchy process (AHP). Depending on the purpose and methods. The results of this study are as follows: Such as Plan section, Composition of Program Facility, User Charge Survey, Arrangement of Program Room were analyzed highest. Such as Design section, Arrangement of Program Room, Circulation planning, Educational Equipment were analyzed highest. And such as Operation section, Operation costs, Operation Plan, Review of Program Facility were analyzed highest.

  • As the influence of service industry into domestic economy is increasing, it also has been influenced more powerfully at the domestic GDP(Gross Domestic Product) relative importance and employment relative importance continuously. By means of these reason, the Korean government announced the synthetic countermeasure for strengthening the competitive power of service industry in December, 2006. After then, it announced phase I of 'service industry advancing plan' which is concrete execution plan in April, 2008. Also, it is announced to announce phase II plans in september, 2008 and phase III plan in December, 2008 additionally. Service quality is the most powerful competitive means at service marketing and a key point for improving service productivity. The improvement of service quality has considerable influence on survival and profitability of service industry. Therefore, the study of objective service quality measurement in service industry is very important issue. The purpose of this study is to suggest a measurement model of service quality using fuzzy theory and AHP which measuring service quality objectively in subjective environment. It is expected that this study will help the improvement of competition power of service industry as well as establishment of effective decision-making.

Web-based Three-step Project Management Model and Its Software Development

  • Recently the technical advances and complexities have generated much of the difficulties in managing the project resources, for both scheduling and costing to accomplish the project in the most efficient manner. The project manager is frequently required to render judgments concerning the schedule and resource adjustments. This research develops an analytical model for a schedule-cost and risk analysis based on visual PERT/CPM. We used a three-step approach: 1) in the first step, a deterministic PERT/CPM model for the critical path and estimating the project time schedule and related resource planning and we developed a heuristic model for crash and stretch out analysis based upon a time-cost trade-off associated with the crash and stretch out of the project. 2) In second step, we developed web-based risk evaluation model for project analysis. Major technologies used for this step are AHP (analytic hierarchy process, fuzzy-AHP, multi-attribute analysis, stochastic network simulation, and web based decision support system. Also we have developed computer programs and have shown the results of sample runs for an R&D project risk analysis. 3) We developed an optimization model for project resource allocation. We used AHP weighted values and optimization methods. Computer implementation for this model is provided based on GUI-Type objective-oriented programming for the users and provided displays of all the inputs and outputs in the form of GUI-Type. The results of this research will provide the project managers with efficient management tools.

Site Layout of ChungChong-Do Chonui-hyon Government Office in the Late Chosen Dynasty (조선후기(朝鮮後期) 충청도(忠淸道) 전의현(全義縣) 관아건축(官衙建築)의 배치구성(配置構成)에 관한 연구(硏究))

  • This study is to analyze site layout traditional government office building focused on Chonui-hyon(全義縣) in Chungchong province with Chungchong-do regional maps(忠淸道地方地圖) and Eupjis(邑誌, topography) being compiled in the late Chosun dynasty. The conclusion of analysis can be summarized as follows; 1. Chonui-hyon(全義縣) in Chosun dynasty is gone with a planning principle of the capital city(Han-Seong, 漢城) with disposing Sa-Ji-Dan(社稷壇) and Gaek-Sa(客舍), which are placed to the left and right of Eupchi(邑治), and it is followed in the wake of the spatial structure of Chosun dynasty palace with disposing Dong-Heon(東軒) in front, Nae-A(內衙) at the back of it, or from side to side, also by the Dong-Heon of the center, with organizing each facility around it. 2. Dong-Heon and Gaek-Sa of Chonui-hyon is passed through three step gate, Mun-Ru(門樓), Woi-Sammun(外三門), Nae-Sammun(內三門), from Hong-Salmon(紅門), and are shown hierarchy by haying been placed at the end of approach axis. 3. Dong-Heon can be disposed by Feng-Shui(風水) which have influence on the southeast direction with Jin-San(鎭山) and An-Dae(案對), on the other hand, Gaek-Sa can be disposed by symbolic of the authority of a king. 4. Site layout by function of provincial government office is provided into four ferrite, Dong-Heon, Gaek-Sa, Nae-A, practical business territory, and eve territory is organized by official institution on a social position to radiation, by the compositive axis to be made Woi-Sammun Nae-Sammun Dong-Heon Nae-A 5. Approach process of Chnui-hyon government office is three door system similar to Kam-Young(監營) in a different way two door system in most provincial government office, also approach axis is formed by bending.

  • Since Kyoto Protocol to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in 2005 takes effect, the transportation policies of most countries move toward encouraging the use of the transit mode with energy efficient and low carbon. Korea is 8th country of producing Co2 emissions and will be one of obligation countries decreasing Co2 after year 2013. In order to improve the efficiency of national transport system investment, this study developed the strategies toward rail-oriented transport system by considering operational speed and accessability, rail-oriented development, and introduce of ubiquitous technique in railway. The four major strategies targeted for future year are introduced here such as One-hour rail(connecting major cities within one hour), Seamless 30(accessing major railway stations within 30 minutes, Rail urbanism (railway-based urban planning), and U-rail (railway service with ubiquitous technique). Each strategy includes several action plans and their priorities are investigated using AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) to organize them by time scheme as short, mid, and long term perspective.

Development of Transportation Indicators for Green Growth Based on a Questionnaire Survey for Transportation Experts (녹색성장 교통부문 지표개발 교통 전문가 설문조사결과 분석)

  • In this study, the indicators for evaluating the level of green growth in transportation are proposed. The authors reviewed the existing philosophies such as sustainable development and eco-efficiency and explained the differences between the philosophies and green growth. The planning hierarchy and indicator framework are proposed and the idea of indicators is also introduced. In order to decide the weighting value for objectives and targets, a questionnaire survey for transportation experts was conducted. The survey results show that low-carbon/environmentally-friendly development is the most important objective. In addition, the results reveal that transportation experts do not fully understand the concept of green growth and cannot differentiate the concept of green growth from that of sustainable development and eco-efficiency.

  • Energy environment has been changing rapidly such as the fluctuation of oil prices and the effect on UNFCCC. Oil price change affects Korea's economy heavily due to her poor natural resources and large dependence of consumed energy resources. Korea takes the 4th place of importing the crude oil and 9th place in $CO_2$ emissions with the 1st place of $CO_2$ emissions increasing rate. Considering the current statue of Korea including oil price change and UNFCCC, Korea will be expected to be the Annex I nation due to Korean energy environments and the quantity of $CO_2$ emission. Energy technology development is a crucial key to cope with Korea's national energy security and environments. In this study, we establish the framework, which allocates the relative weights of assessment criteria and sub-criteria, for assessing and selecting R&D programs of energy technologies strategically. We integrated fuzzy theory and analytic hierarchy process (AHP) approach since the fuzzy AHP approach reflects the vagueness of human thoughts and perception effectively as making pairwise comparisons of criteria and alternatives. The fundamental data of this research results will support R&D planning phase for policy-makers and the production of well focused R&D outcomes.

A Performance Measurement on Construction R&D;Using Output Indicators (산출지표를 활용한 건설R&D의 상대적 성과측정)

  • The public research and development (R&D) funds for construction engineering is one of the key elements for the advancement of construction industry. Korean Ministry of Construction and Transportation is currently planning to produce approximately US$ 500 millions of research funds every year in Korea from year 2007. Along with the prospect for increasing R&D investment, there is of increasing pressures on the development of quantitative methodologies for assessing the performance of construction R&D results. Although there have been some general R&D project evaluation methods, they are not readily used for construction R&D research assessment due to the distinct characteristics of construction R&D. This paper presents a simple methodology that can make quantitative assessments of construction R&D performances. The proposed methodology is expected to assist government officials in objectively evaluating construction R&D performances and identifying the areas that require more R&D investment.
