This study aims to derive the life service supply structure in rural areas of Jeollabuk-do through the analysis of the centrality of life service in Eup/Myeon central area. In addition, mutual relationship between the settlement system in rural areas and the current status of the supply of living services in Eup/Myeon areas were also analyzed. In particular, in this study, the entire administrative districts of Jeollabuk-do are intended to be established as a single wide area unit, breaking away from the current status of living service supply at the Si/Gun level. This study mainly conducted with three points. First, the spatial range of Eup/Myeon central districts with centrality in terms of living service supply was established. Second, the hierarchical structure of the living service supply system in the rural areas of Jeollabuk-do was investigated through the analysis of the living service supply level based on the centrality and geographical distribution in Eup/Myeon central districts. Based on the analysis results, the central place system of rural areas in Jeollabuk-do was established in terms of living service supply. Third, through the analysis of the living service functions distributed in the central area, and the type of living service supply by hierarchy was identified.
Purpose: This study utilized secondary data and investigated the factors associated with life satisfaction by living arrangements among community-dwelling adults aged 65 years or older in Korea. Methods: A total of 2,134 participants were selected from the 2014 Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging (KLoSA). Univariable and multivariable logistic regression were used for data analysis. Results: The significant factors associated with life satisfaction in older adults living with others were education level (odds ratio [OR] 1.73, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.41~2.11), place of residence in medium-size city (OR 1.57, 95% CI 1.25~1.97), place of residence in rural town(OR 1.52, 95% CI 1.19~1.95), depression (OR 2.99, 95% CI 2.43~3.68), frequency of contact with neighbors (OR 1.39, 95% CI 1.10~1.76), and social participation (OR 1.48, 95% CI 1.14~1.93). In contrast, factors associated with life satisfaction among older adults living alone were education level (OR 1.93, 95% CI 1.15~3.24) and depression (OR 2.49, 95% CI 1.48~4.19). Conclusion: These findings indicated that nursing interventions for improving life satisfaction among older adults should take into account their specific living arrangements.
Aging in place strategies such as residential remodeling have potential to enable older persons to remain in their own homes satisfactorily in terms of quality of life. The purpose of this study is to investigate the types of residential remodeling, needs, and opinions of elderly households living in Seoul and to suggest the housing policy and system for improving independent living of elderly households. Using face to face interview with structured questionnaire, 115 elderly households were interviewed during April $25{\sim}June$ 25, 2005. Most of respondents wanted to stay in their own homes as long as they can and some of them remodeled their houses to adapt their physical and financial conditions and housing needs. Various factors such as financial problem and lack of knowledge about remodeling process, however, restricted their actions to realize their needs. Based on the results, some suggestions to activate 'aging in place' were proposed as future guidelines of housing policy related to residential remodeling for housing welfare of the elderly.
In order to prevent incoming solar radiation, it is necessary to study about blinds' blocking out effects of heat that are installed at the balcony at an apartment house. To figure out the heating effects from the windows, a study for indoor thermal environment according to the location of blinds is also needed. In order to find out the changes of indoor thermal environment, we'll compare models of a house building with or without Venetian blinds: one place has an extended living room removing a balcony and another one has a normal balcony. The result is as follows. Without blinds, the place with an extended living room has benefits for saving heat compare to the place with a normal balcony. It's because the warm air heated by the incoming solar radiation moves into the living room through convection current and radiation which causes an increase of the indoor temperature. At an extended living room, the temperature difference from outside and inside, when blinds were installed inside, was $1.9^{\circ}C$ while it was $0.6^{\circ}C$ when the blinds were installed at outside of the balcony. It is evaluated that setting up the blind outside prevents much heat. At the space with a normal balcony, installing blinds at living room windows can save much heat compare to installing blinds at windows at the balcony. The indoor temperature was low when blinds were installed. It can be said that blinds block heat from the incoming solar radiation. Moreover, when blinds are installed, there is a big change of indoor temperature due to the radiation from the blinds' slat and convective activities in between the blinds and windows. This also has to be considered.

Walled town was located on the axis connecting symbolic places, which was a feng-shui lucky place of a mountain sits to the rear and a body of water sits to the front. Profit-keeping behaviors naturally occur in the market to satisfy consumers, and the logic behind it lies in the economies of scale. On the flip side, some commodities transacted in the market are not available or can not be easily acquired unless the demand is high enough. Under this proposition, some consumers rise and find their own solution to meet the services at a reasonable cost or at an adequate level. The commonly adopted way is to establish a cooperative, and it stirs purchasing power by pooling resources and further bargains price and service quality. As a consumer cooperative, housing cooperatives notably found in rural towns enable the elderly to continue independent living. This study is to take a closer look at residential life of the rural elderly in housing cooperatives. Utilizing in-depth focus group interviews with 40 residents in four housing cooperatives, this qualitative research draws main factors affecting the decision to move in, residential assessment, and strengths and weakness of living in a housing cooperative. The primary factor influencing the moving decision is to continue to independent living in a familiar community, and the bottom line is planning ahead. Frailty and bereavement are found to be the leading occasions for them to move. The participants are satisfied with the independent living arrangement, and particularly, cited such features as safety and security, elderly-friendly design, common spaces, freedom, social activities and efficient living. Also, it is stated that some cooperative natures such as control over the property and giving a voice on management render positive impacts on the satisfaction with communal living. In spite of all the benefits and strengths, participants face with a public notion that an independent living arrangement like a housing cooperative has never done before in rural towns, so that most people recognize it as part of dependent living arrangements like nursing home.
The purpose of this study is to clarify the identity of place expressed by people living in a new community. Through the field survey on a new community as a case based on interviews and cognitive maps, the identity of place is analyzed in terms of physical features, activities and meanings with relation to levels of visibility, cognition and value, and besides, attractive places and unattractive places are examined for enhancing the identity of place in a new community.
