  • We propose a new method to eliminate completely the redundant elements in a CDMA (code division multiple access) mobile system. First, we define multilevel logic operation (MLO), which is a new concept to deal with the multilevel logic signals. We prove that the conventional binary logic concept is a subset of the MLO concept. The multilevel logic signal can be directly controlled by using this MLO in place of the binary operation. We applied the MLO to the CDMA base station modulator (BSM) in order to reduce the hardware complexity. In the case of a 3-sectorized cell, this method helps reduce the complexity down the level of below 1% of the conventional CDMA BSM for spreading and filtering, and to 50% for Walsh covering.

  • In this paper, we propose strategies that eliminating packet loss and minimize delay time during handoff under wireless LAN environments. As a mobile host moves between cells, a handoff takes place. A few handoff protocol have been proposed to eliminate the packet loss, but they have a heavy overhead. So, We proposed handoff protocol using the next-cell prediction scheme that send not to current BS but to mobile host and next BS, therefore next BS buffered packet send mobile host after handoff. We also present simulation results for our simulation using the Network Simulator (ns2). The simulations show that our handoff scheme is no packet loss.

  • Synectics is one of several techniques used to enhance brainstorming by taking a more active role and introducing metaphor and structure into the process. It is unclear at what level of specificity this should be formulated as a pattern. This thesis reviews recent computational as well as experimental work on analogical reasoning based on synectics. New results regarding information processing of analogical reasoning stages, major computational models and recent attempts to compare these models are reviewed. Computational models are also discussed in the computational as well as cognitive psychology perspectives. Future directions in analogical reasoning research are proposed. The following import is the need to accommodate the typology and normal assessment in the concrete circumstances where actual reasoning and problem solving take place. In order to get to this end, we used computational models by Thagard who take the stand of ‘Computational Philosophy of Science’, which assumes ‘Weak AI’ to explicate what constitute the very pecularity of Analogical Reasoning.

  • This Paper focuses on modeling and simulation to analyze the characteristic of hybrid vehicle. The system includes a proton exchange membrane fuel cell(PEMFC), photovoltaic generator(PV), lead-acid battery, motor, vehicle and controller. Main electricity is produced by the PEMFC and battery to meet the requirements of a user load. When vehicle is parked in a sunny place, extra power is generated by the photovotaics and is charged in a battery for next drive. Further we evaluate usefulness of this hybrid vehicle by using ADVISOR - the advanced vehicle simulator written in the Matlab/Simulink environment. According to simulation results, the extra power obtained by photovoltaics which have been explored in nature conditions can help to reduce the electrical load of PEMFC and increase the efficiency (over 21 %).

  • In this paper, we propose improved night visibility enhancement algorithm based on haze removal method. The proposed method uses new haze removal method in place of the conventional methods. Our night visibility enhancement method is very good and faster than traditional methods. This method also uses additionally local histogram equalization for sharpening the enhanced image. Our method can be applied to any application that uses a visible light camera, and it is appropriate to apply a black box, vehicle camera, and cell phone camera, since it is possible that real-time processing.

  • Alignment pattern of checkerboard was constructed by the stylus of atomic force microscope. Orientational bistability of the nematic liquid crystal was realized on that frustrated surface alignment. Macroscopic orientational switching between two perpendicular directions took place by an appropriate in-plane electric field. The threshold electric fields decreased in both switching directions as temperature increased. The focused laser heated up only the limited domains in the cell including a light-absorbing medium. Irradiating the laser concurrently with an appropriate electric field, we switched the selected unit domains in the alignment pattern. The switched domains maintained stably the switched direction without the disturbance from the exterior. Extending and repeating this process, we realized extremely fine devices of bistable switching.

  • Over the years of decades, the memory technology has progressed a long, marble way. As we have evidenced from the Intel's 1Kb DRAM in 1970 to the Gigabit era of 2000's, the road further ahead towards the Terabit era will be unfolded. The technology once perceived inconceivable is in realization today, and similarly roadblocks as we know of today mayvecome trivial issues for tomorrow. For the inquiring mind, the question is how the "puzzle"of tomorrow's memory technology is pieced-in today. The process will take place both in evolutionary and revolutionary ways. Among these, note-worthy are the changes in DRAM architecture and the cell process technology. In this paper, some technical approaches will be discussed to bring these aspects into a general overview and a per-spective with possibilities for the new memory technology will be presented.presented.

  • A hierarchical placement system based on routing region assignment has been developed to increase the probability of routing completion after placement. While most of the existing placement systems attempt to reduce the cell density at the portions where routing density is high, our method is distinguished in that specific routing regions are allocated to secure complete routing where the routing density is greater than the routing capacity. Hierarchy is vuilt by clustering and recursive paritioning, and the initial placement obtained by partitioning at each level is improved by using the region refinement algorithm. After placement at each hierarchical level, global routing is performed and fouting regions are assigned, if routing density is greater than routing capacity, to be considered at the next level of placement. the proposed algorithm has been implemented and applied to place several industrical gate-array circuits. A couple of circuits which cannot be routed by using conventional placement techniques can be completely routed by using our new placement technique with routing region assignment.

  • Ultrastructural characteristics of hemocytic differentiation pathway in Sericinus montetla Grey were observed with transmission electron microscope. Hemocytic differentiation took place in loose islets of hemopoietic organs as indicated by the presence of differentiating hemocytes; prohemocytes, plasmatocytes, granular cells and spherule cells. They are differentiatied from the stem cells through individual cell lineages. However, differentiating aspects of the oenocytoids were not observed. According to Brehelin and Zachary (1986), the premature hemocytes around the hemopoietic organs were classified into five types; prohemocytes, plasmatocytes, granular cells, spherule cells and oenocytoids.

  • Rice callus was treated with 0.56M sucrose solution mixed with 5% pectinase and 10% cellulase, and the protoplasts isolated were transferred to 0.25 M sodium nitrate to induce protoplasmic fusion. Callus tissues were macerated well and degradation of cell walls also proceeded satisfactorily. When the protoplasts were transferred to sodium nitrate solution, many giant roundish protoplasts and some multilobed complex protoplasmic bodies were observed. Most of the fusions took place immediately after the protoplasts were transferred to sodium nitrate. Some multilobed protoplasts which failed to fuse in the initial stage took longer time, about two hours, to get completely fused and rounded-off. Multilobed protoplasmic bodies were invariably multinucleate, while giant round protoplasts had either several nuclei or had one nucleus of large size. Nuclear fusion, also, seemed to occur immediately after the protoplasts were transferred to sodium nitrate.
