  • Recent advancements in mobile device technology have enabled real-time positioning so that mobile patterns of people and favorable locations can be identified and related researches have become plentiful. One of the fields of research is the relationship between the object properties and the favored location to visit. The object properties of a person include personality, which is a major property jobs, income, gender, and age. In this study, we analyzed the relationship between the human personality and the preference of the location to visit. We used Spearman's Rank correlation coefficient, one of the many methods that can be used to determine the correlation between two variables. Instead of using actual data values, Spearman's Rank correlation coefficient deals with the ranks of the two data sets. In our research, the personality and the location data sets are used. Our personality data is ranked in five ranks and the location data is ranked in 8 ranks. Spearman's Rank correlation coefficient showed better results compared to Pearson linear correlation coefficient and Kendall rank correlation coefficient. Using Spearman's correlation coefficient, the degree of the relationship between the personality and the location preference is found to be 43%.

  • This paper suggested a location-based traffic information service system using TPEG and GIS. Measurement technique, location server, applied service technique, and linkage technique with database were used to provide the location-based traffic information service. In particular, TPEG-RTM includes location information and load traffic message. The location information to be included in each message displayed a specific point, section or region limit of the load. Actually, because it was impossible to receive data using TPEG receiver, a proposed program included in this paper was used to produce an arbitrary database and read it, Also, TPEG event happened time was indicated on the map for matching test of a TPEG message and WGS84 coordinate, and finally it was verified with art example of a vehicle approaching to an event happened place.

  • Nowadays, in the so-called 'smart era', people are likely to feel more comfortable in on-line meetings than in off-line meetings. However, on-line meetings are often considered unimportant and it is difficult for participants to share their feelings. This paper suggests a mobile application that can revitalize off-line meetings to address these problems. Wecok Application, which suggests the best meeting place by applying users' preferences and their locations, provides a function-oriented user interface and simple touch flow. Wecok consists of a client/server software, and currently supports only three users simultaneously. It enables exchange of off-line and on-line communication by expanding meetings from on-line to off-line. By using Wecok, users can easily decide on an off-line meeting place.

  • Elementary School is a special facility where sense of place plays critical role for the development of children. Children in special education call for special attention as they hold inferior status compared to the children in regular class especially under the inclusive education policy. Eight cases of special education class area are analyzed in terms of social space, personal space and favorite place which is known to be basic factor for the development. As a result outdoor space found to be designed inappropriate even when designed accessible to the special education class as it could not meet the developmental needs of children in special education. Special education class area inside the building is also found to be too exclusive to allow social mix with children in regular class disregarding the intention of inclusive education. Location of these class should be strategic as it is critical to be linked with regular classroom efficiently still allowing psychological buffer as the children in special education tend to form restorative space inside the special education classroom showing the possibility of creating sense of place there.

  • Selecting a suitable place is to determine the attributive conditions and qualified areas for the aim as factors and is to be fulfilled systematically for selecting the area which satisfies all these. This research tries to achieve a rational suitability analysis of residential development using the GIS modeling method and the hierarchical analysis process. A spatial and attributive analysis has been systematized for selecting a suitable place for the study and GIS analysis model has been used for the effective conclusion drawing for different levels. As a next step, a quantitative and qualitative evaluation index was created through complex consideration of the criteria and decision factors of the location selection, and weights were added depending on the relative importance of these factors. In particular, 3D terrain model simulation method has been used in order to reflect the aesthetic factors of the scenery which is an element of the subjective evaluation factors and considered qualitative and subjective evaluation factors which were not considered for the existing AHP technique. After the research, a location that satisfies complex requirements was found rapidly and accurately through the GIS model and hierarchical analysis.

  • Object recognition and object location have always drawn much interest. Also, recently various computational models have been designed. One of the big issues in this domain is the lack of an appropriate model for extracting important part of the picture and estimating the object place in the same environments that caused low accuracy. To solve this problem, a new Salient Based Bag of Visual Word (SBBoVW) model for object recognition and object location estimation is presented. Contributions lied in the present study are two-fold. One is to introduce a new approach, which is a Salient Based Bag of Visual Word model (SBBoVW) to recognize difficult objects that have had low accuracy in previous methods. This method integrates SIFT features of the original and salient parts of pictures and fuses them together to generate better codebooks using bag of visual word method. The second contribution is to introduce a new algorithm for finding object place based on the salient map automatically. The performance evaluation on several data sets proves that the new approach outperforms other state-of-the-arts.

  • The purpose of this paper is to extract the vowel formants of the ten young male speakers from the Buckeye Corpus of Conversational Speech [1] and to analyze them in comparison to earlier works in terms of various phonetic factors that are expected to affect the realization of the formant distribution. The first two formant frequency values were automatically extracted with a Praat script along with such factors as the place of articulation, the content versus function word information, syllabic stress information, the location in a word, location in utterance, speech rate of three consecutive words, and the word frequency in the corpus. The results indicated that the formant patterns from the corpus were very different from those of earlier works although the overall pattern was similar and that the factors were strongly responsible for the realization of the two formants. • Chinese law does not directly stipulate the criteria for determining the nationality of arbitral awards, and the Civil Procedure Law stipulates that arbitral awards are divided into domestic arbitral awards and foreign arbitral awards based on the location of the arbitration institution managing the arbitration cases. This indirectly classifies the nationality of the arbitral award based on the location of the arbitral institution. However, with regard to the nationality of eight arbitral awards in this paper made in China by the foreign arbitration institutions, the Chinese courts determined the nationality by arbitrarily selecting the criteria for the location of the arbitration institution and the criteria for the place of arbitration, except for arbitral awards made in Hong Kong. China's unclear attitude toward the criteria for determining the nationality of arbitral award has resulted not only obscures the country that can exercise the right to revoke arbitral award, but also obscures the laws and regulations applied to the approval and execution of arbitral awards. In other words, since the right to revoke the arbitral awards resides with the country of nationality of the awards, such an ambiguous attitude in China prevents the parties from responding to the cancellation lawsuit by predicting the nationality of the arbitral awards in advance. Furthermore, since China made a declaration of reciprocity reservations while joining the New York Convention, in cases where the criteria for location of the arbitral institution is applied, if the arbitration institution belongs to a contracting state, the it must apply the New York Convention to approve and execute arbitration decisions, but if it is not a contracting state, it must be approved and executed by mutual arbitration agreements or reciprocity principles. These results can lead to different results in approval and execution of the same arbitral awards depending on how the nationality is determined.

  • Studies on the optimal location of retail store have been made in case of no obstacle(Minagawa etal. 1999). This paper deals with the location problem of retail store considering obstacles (e.g. rivers, railways, highways, etc.) and obstacle-overcoming points (e.g. bridges, railway crossings, zebra crossings, overpasses, etc.). We assume that (1) commercial goods dealt here are typically convenience goods, (2) the population is granted as potential demand, (3) the apparent demand is a function of the maximum migration length and the distance from the store to customers, (4) the scale of a store is same in every place and (5) there is no competitor. First, we construct the basic model of customers' behavior considering obstacles and obstacle-overcoming points. Analyzing the two dimensional model, the arbitrary force attracting customers is represented as a height of a cone where the retail store is located on the center. Second, we formulate the total demand of customers and determine the optimal location that maximizes the total demand. Finally, the properties of the optimal location are investigated by simulation.

  • The purpose of this paper is to establish three themes of regional instruction based on new regional geography and to examine explanation of space, understanding of place and judgement of environmental values for the Jinju regional instruction. Under the premise that region is the representation of space, place, and environmental perception, we reviewed location and space, event and place, development and environmental values in Jinju area. The results of the study are as follows: Owing to locational conditions, commercial agriculture, industrial and agroindustrial park, bio industry have been developed in Jinju. There are however some tasks that have to be solved such as rural investment, industrial park relocation and economic reconstruction. The Jinju castle combat, Farmers' resistance in 1862, Human right campaign for butchers in 1923, and educational conflict all occurred in the Jinju community. These events resulted in the integration and separation of the stratified citizens. They were represented as a variety of semiotics and landscape in the place. Citizens who live in Jinju are confronted with judging the environmental values. They ask whether inviting companies to town will ensure environmentally sound and sustainable development. The regional characteristics of knowledge, culture and environment in Jinju have been reproduced through the economic activity, place understanding, place marketing, and citizens' campaign.
