  • Error correction effect for maladjusted stereo cameras with calibrated pixel distance parameter is presented. The camera calibration is a necessary procedure for stereo vision-based depth computation. Intra and extra parameters should be obtain to determine the relation between image and world coordination through experiment. One difficulty is in camera alignment for parallel installation: placing two CCD arrays in a plane. No effective methods for such alignment have been presented before. Some amount of depth error caused from such non-parallel installation of cameras is inevitable. If the pixel distance parameter which is one of intra parameter is calibrated with known points, such error can be compensated in some amount. Such error compensation effect with the calibrated pixel distance parameter is demonstrated with some experimental results.

  • In order to generate the gray scale image by the binary state imaging devices such as a digital printer, the gray scale image needs to be converted into the binary image by the halftoning techniques. This paper presents a new error diffusion technique to achieve the homogeneous dot distributions on the binary images. In this paper,'the minimum pixel distance'from the current pixel under binarization to the nearest minor pixel is defined first. Also, the gray levels of the input image are converted into a new variable based on the principal distance for the error diffusion. In the proposed method, the difference in the principal distances is utilized for the error propagation, whereas the gray level difference due to the binarization is diffused to the neighboring pixels in the existing error diffusion techniques. The quantization is accomplished by comparing the updated principal distance with the minimum pixel distance. In order to calculate the minimum pixel distance, MPOA(Minor Pixel Offset Array) is employed to reduce the computational loads and memory resources.

  • Moving pixel displacement detection algorithm using correlation functions for making panorama image on the continuous images is presented in this paper. The input images get from a CMOS image sensor (CIS). The camera is maintained by constant brightness and uniform sensing area in test input pattern. For simple navigation and capture image has to 70% overlapped region. A correlation rate in two image data is evaluated by using reference image with first captures, and compare image with next captures. The displacement of the two images are expressed to second order function of x, y and solved with finding the coefficient in second order function. That results in the change in the peak correlation displacement from the reference to the compare image, is moving to pixel length. The navigating error is reduced by varying the path because the error is shown in the difference of the positioning vector between the true pixel position and the navigated pixel position. The algorithm performance is evaluated to be different from the error vector to vary the navigating path grid.

  • In this paper, I proposed an effective technique for accurately predicting pixel values using edge components. Adjacent pixel values are similar to each other. That is, generally, similarity exists between adjacent pixels in an image. In the proposed algorithm, edge components are detected using the surrounding pixels in the first step, and pixel values are estimated using the edge components in the second step. Therefore, the prediction accuracy of the pixel value is improved and the prediction error is reduced. Pixel value prediction is a necessary technique for various applications such as image magnification and confidential data concealment. Experimental results show that the proposed method has higher prediction accuracy and fewer prediction error. Therefore, the proposed technique can be effectively used for applications such as image magnification and confidential data concealment.

  • We propose a subpixel scale elemental image generation method to correct the errors created by finite display pixel size in integral imaging. In this paper, two errors are mainly discussed: pickup-and-display mismatch error and mismatch error between pixel pitch and lens pitch. The proposed method considers the relative positions between lenses and pixels in subpixel scale. Our proposed pickup method calculates the position parameters, generates an elemental image with pixels completely inside the lens, and generates an elemental image with border pixels using a weighted sum method. Appropriate experiments are presented to verify the validity of the proposed method.

  • Mutilevel holographic data storage systems have a big advantage for capacity since it can store more than one bit per pixel. For instance, 2/3 modulation code stores 2/3(symbol/pixel) and 4/3(bit/pixel). Then it is about 1.3 bits per one pixel. In this paper, we propose two 4-level modulation codes, which have the minimum Euclidean distances of 3 and 4, respectively. The proposed codes perform better than random data. The performance of larger minimum distance code shows better than that of shorter one.

  • Error diffusion is excellent for reproducing grey-scale images to binary images. The output of conventional error diffusion produces correlated pattern. In this paper, a new error diffusion coefficient set is proposed to reduce correlated pattern and to enhance edge through frequency analysis of the error diffusion coefficients. The error diffusion coefficients of the previous line are designed to enhance the edge. The error diffusion coefficient of the previous pixel of the current pixel is selected to symmeterize the coefficient set. Because the proposed coefficient-set consists of 1 and 2, a few computations are required. As results of experiments, it is shown that the binary image using the proposed coefficients have better quality than conventional ones.

  • The depth of the object pointed by the laser beam is computed depending on the pixel position on the CCD There involved several number of internal and external parameters such as inter-pixel distance, focal length, position and orientation of the system components in the depth measurement error. In this paper, it is shown through the error sensitivity analysis of the parameters that the most important parameters in the sense of error sources are the angle of the laser beam and the inter pixel distance. Also, the calibration technique to minimize their effect for the depth computation is proposed.
