Design of PCD Adjustment Device and Motion Study of Tire Replacements (PCD 조절기계 설계 및 타이어 교체작업의 동작 분석)

  • A new PCD (Pitch Circle Diameter) adjustment system has been designed in this study. Traditional system requires repetitive same works in changing automobile tires. The system proposed in this study requires just one simultaneous work to finish the job. We designed the system using Solidworks CAD software. We further investigate the jobs for both cases through work factor method. Based on careful clarification of the job, work factor units were assigned to each work factor. Even if further analysis should be processed for actual field application, the mechanism proposed in this study may provide good reference for practical usage.

  • During one revolution of a gear, the intensity of the gear-meshing noise or vibration will vary, depending upon the run-out in the pitch diameter of the gear. Here noise can be produced bu excentricity of the shaft with respect to the base circle and by pitch errors. According to the noise generated is clearly dependent on the force and the amount of energy expended in elastically straining the machine member. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the analysis of the noise and technical reduction of gear noise for machine tool.

  • This paper presents a study on the helical gear inspection system for application to vehicle transmission gear manufacturing lines. The special gear profile inspection system is not suitable for manufacturing lines due to the measuring time. The master gear method, which was used in this study and compared with the machined gear in the line, is more efficient and economical. In this paper, three helical gear inspection parameters were of concern: nick, run-out, and PCD (pitch circle diameter) error. To evaluate its influence on the accuracy, the gear measuring system was also studied. This system can be useful in practical vehicle transmission gear manufacturing lines, where imported equipment is currently being used.

Hybrid Powder-Extrusion Process Involving the Control of Temperature Dwelling Time for Fabricating Spur Gears with Required Properties (온도 유지시간 제어를 적용한 하이브리드 분말 압출 공정을 통한 요구 특성의 스퍼기어 제조)

  • In this study, a hybrid powder-extrusion process involving the control of temperature dwelling time for improving the formability of Zn-22Al powder was developed and the effect of dwelling time on the mechanical properties of a spur gear with a pitch circle having a diameter of 1.8 mm was investigated. General extrusion experiments were carried out at different temperatures such as 290, 300, and $310^{\circ}C$. Spur gears with good qualities and without any surface defects were obtained in the case of extrusion temperature of $310^{\circ}C$ and ball-milling duration of 32 h. The Vickers hardness distribution was non-uniform, and after the sintering process, an internal crack was generated because of the different deformation energy between gear central part and teeth. To overcome the abovementioned problems, research on controlling the dwelling time of the extrusion temperature in the powder-extrusion process was carried out. Good-quality spur gears were obtained when the dwelling time was 15 min.
