엔진 오일 소모에 관한 연구 (A Study on Engine Oil Consumption)

  • 피스톤-실린더-링 틈새를 통해 일어나는 오일소모와 브로바이가스 증가는 최소화되어야 하며, 한편으로는 연료저감 및 성능증가 개선 측면에서 피스톤 링 팩의 마찰 손실도 줄일 필요가 있다. 이러한 두 가지 측면에서, 피스톤 링 팩의 최적 설계에 대한 연구가 수행되어야 한다. 따라서 오일소모 및 브로바이가스의 앙은 엔진개발과정 및 필드에서의 엔진운전 중에 엔진의 상태가 좋은지 나쁜지를 판단하는 중요한 요인이 된다. 본 연구의 목적은 연소실 내로의 오일 흐름 량과 피스톤 링 팩을 지나 아래로 내려가는 가스흐름을 계산하여 엔진오일 소모 및 브로바이가스를 예측하는 컴퓨터 프로그램을 개발하는 것이다. 향 후 본 프로그램을 이용하여 엔진의 상태를 미리 예측할 수 있을 것으로 본다.

  • The simulator of a vehicle equipped with hydrostatic transmission and hydraulic accumulator type-braking energy regeneration system is developed using a PC. The simulator receives the accelerator pedal angle and the brake pedal angle generated by the operator using the keyboard, updates the state variables of the energy regeneration system responding to the input signals, and draws the moving pictures of the accumulator piston, pump plate angle and pump/motor plate angle every drawing time on the PC monitor. Also, the operator can observe the accel pedal angle, brake pedal angle, pressures of accumulators, vehicle speed, hydraulic torque, engine torque and air brake torque representing the operation of braking energy regeneration system through the PC monitor every drawing time. The simulator can be a very useful tool to design and improve the braking energy regeneration system.

  • A new stratified charge combustion system has been introduced and developed for GDI engines. Before this new GDI system, the stratified mixture was formed by a high pressure swirl injector. But, the special feature of new system is employed of a thin fan-shaped fuel spray formed by a slit type nozzle. Also, this system has been adopted a shell-shaped piston cavity. We made high pressure gasoline injection system and investigated the fan-shaped spray characteristics such as spray tip penetration, spray angle, SMD and velocities of droplets using PDPA(Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer) system and spray visualization system to obtain the concept of the new design and the fundamental data for the next generation GDI system. The experiment was performed at the injection pressures of 5 and 9MPa under the atmospheric condition.

  • This paper describes a detailed experimental Investigation of heat transfer In a reciprocating rectangular channel fitted with rib structures with particular reference to the design of a piston for marine propulsive diesel engine. The parametric test matrix involves Reynolds number, reciprocating frequency, and reciprocating radius, respectively, in the ranges, $1,000\;{\~}\;6,000,\;1.7\;{\~}\;2.5\;Hz,\;and\;7\;{\~}\;15cm$ with four different rib arrangements. The rib arrangements have considerable influences on the heat transfer in the reciprocating channel due to the modified vortex flow structure. The experimental data confirm that the increases in the heat transfer can be seen in order of Case (a), Case (d), Case (c), and Case (b)

  • The spray characteristics of a high pressure 6-hole injector were examined in a single cylinder optical direct injection spark ignition (DISI) engine. The effects of injection timing, in-cylinder charge motion, fuel injection pressure and coolant temperature were investigated using the 2-dimensional Mie scattering technique. It was confirmed that the in-cylinder charge motion played a major role in the fuel spray distribution during the induction stroke while the propagation of fuel spray was restrained during the compression stroke by the increasing pressure and the upward moving piston. In additions, it was confirmed that the liquid fuel droplets existing at the sprays edges were vaporized by the increase of the coolant temperature.

Design of Linear Transverse Flux Machine for Stelzer Machine using Equivalent Magnet Circuit and FEM

  • This paper presents the new design and validation process of the linear transverse flux machine of the stelzer machine for hybrid vehicle application. A linear transverse flux machine is a novel electric machine that has higher force density and power than conventional electric machine. The process concentrates on 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional analysis using equivalent magnetic circuit method considering leakage elements and it is verified by finite element analysis. Besides the force characteristics of all axis of each direction are analyzed. The study is considered by dividing the transverse flux electric excited type and the transverse flux permanent magnet excited type. Additionally three-dimensional analysis in this machine is accomplished due to asymmetric structure with another three axes. Finally, it suggests the new design and validation process of linear transverse flux machine for stelzer machine.

  • 본 논문은 자유 피스톤 엔진에 적용되는 단상 선형발전기용 전력제어시스템에 관한 연구이다. 자유 피스톤 엔진 선형발전시스템은 피스톤의 움직임을 구속하는 기구가 없기 때문에 기계적 마찰 손실이 적고 상사점 도달 시간이 짧아 에너지 효율측면에서 기존의 피스톤 엔진보다 유리한 기술이다. 하지만, 자유 피스톤 엔진의 경우 초기 기동 할 수 있는 동력원이 필요하며, 단상 선형 발전기의 경우 짧은 스트로크 및 낮은 속도로 인해 인덕턴스가 크게 설계 되어, 높은 인덕턴스로 인한 전류의 위상 지연으로 역률이 낮아지게 되고, 응답성이 떨어지는 문제점을 가지고 있다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 역률 보상 및 응답성을 높일 수 있는 자유피스톤 엔진용 단상선형발진기용 전력제어시스템을 제안한다.

  • Evaporation characteristics of a single droplet of carbon nanofluids were investigated in a rapid compression machine(RCM). n-Heptane and carbon black N990 were used to synthesize the carbon nanofluids. RCM is an experimental set-up to simulate a single compression stroke of reciprocating engine. Temperature and pressure in a reaction chamber were measured during the compression stroke. After the piston reaches top dead center(TDC), temperature and pressure decreased due to the heat loss at wall. In that process, a single droplet of carbon nanofluids underwent unsteady condition. A single droplet was put at the center of reaction chamber. Thermocouple whose tip is $50{\mu}m$ was used not only to measure transient bulk temperature, but also to suspend the droplet. The picture of single droplet was taken using high speed camera with a frame rate of 500 fps. From those pictures, the droplet diameter was measured by visual basic program.

고출력 레이저에 의한 표면 경화 (Transformation Hardening of High Power Laser)

  • Heat flow equation and FEM have been used to calculate the hardening section of material in laser transformation hardening. SCM440 used as the diesel engine piston of vessel has been hardened by a $CO_2$ laser with the wavelength of $10.6{\mu}m$. The specimens were inclined from 0 to 70 degree to investigate the characteristics of laser hardening. The geometrical factor of heat flow equation affects the size of hardening area. The case width decreased with increasing travel speed and the case width increased with increasing inclined angle. Maximum case depth was achieved about 1.0mm and maximum hardness of laser hardened area was of 2.8 times than that of base metal. Experimental data show good agreement with the theoretical calculations for given laser hardening conditions.
