Stress of a steam separator, equipment of the high-pressure (HP) evaporator for a HRSG, was analyzed and evaluated according to ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code Section VIII Division 2. First, from the analysis results of the piping system model of the HP evaporator, reaction forces of the riser tubes connected to the steam separator, i.e., nozzle loads, were derived. Next, a finite element model of the steam separator was constructed and analyzed for the design pressure and the nozzle loads. The results show that the maximum stress occurred at the bore of the riser nozzle. The primary membrane stresses at the shell and nozzle were found to be less than the allowable stress. Next, the steam separator was analyzed for the steady-state operating conditions of operating pressure, operating temperature, and nozzle loads. The maximum stress occurred at the bore of the riser nozzle. The primary plus secondary membrane plus bending stress at the shell and nozzle was found to be less than the allowable stress.
Piping work of large ships or offshore plants is often done in a narrow and confined space, requiring precise bending and safety. In order to realize an accurate bending angle, it is very important to predict and correct a deformation that may be caused by elasticity in the bending process, that is, an angular deviation due to springback. Therefore, by using CAE analysis to develop a correction angle model for springback based on multiple tube bending angles and using trend line data derived from this correction angle model, at bending the tube as the diameter of the base former and the tube outer diameter change, the springback compensation angle at any angle can be obtained. In this study, the bending mechanism was analyzed to increase the bending precision, and a correction angle model was developed and a trend line was derived in consideration of springback occurring in the bending process. In order to derive a more accurate and reliable trend line, a tube tensile test was performed, and the reliability of the corrected angle trend line was verified by comparing the bending angle measurement and analysis results with a 3D scanner.

The fluid flow for a energy transfer is essential for the design and operation of power plants, petrochemical plants and ships including a process. When the operating conditions of a plant are changed or any transitional event occured, the flow controls of a fluid must be performed to follow the new operating state or mitigate the results of a event. Generally these flow controls to accommodate the new operating state of a plant are made by the use of various valves. The refore the design of valves and the related techniques are very important to the system and component designs. However the system and component design are not familiar with the practical theory of the valve since the derivative procedures of the flow equations in a valve are difficult and it is not easy to found the theoretical foundamentals and informations about the design of a valve from the present references. In this study the flow equations applicable to a valve for liquid are theoretically derived in detail. And the definition of valve reynolds number and its boundary values between the tubulent and laminar flow is described compared with the values of a circular pipe flow.
There are two kinds of design process for sprinkler system. one is pipe schedule system and the other is hydraulically designed system. We have inefficient results when we design by hydraulically designed system because the design process for sprinkler system is restricted by domestic fire code. Therefore, it is essential to do an introduction of hydraulically designed system which is based on engineering for enhancing reliability and efficiency of sprinkler system. This study presents points at issue by comparing and studying design standards of sprinkler system from Korea, Japan and NFPA, and presents improvement plans of national fire safety code of sprinkler system by processing, comparing and analyzing designs according to piping schedule and hydraulically designed system about domestic objects. Installation standards of sprinkler system have to be applied not by object buildings but by hazard classification. It is hard to design an efficient sprinkler system for fire control when water supply requirement of sprinkler systems allocated according to a size of a building because the same purpose but other buildings may request more water requirement or less. We should sublate the pipe schedule system from national fire safety code and need to introduce the hydraulically designed system. The pipe schedule system presents easy access because it is based on the forecasted engineering calculations but it is applied to only small buildings like NFPA due to its low reliability.
Inconel 625 is useful in variety of industrial applications because of the resistance to attack on various corrosive media at temperature from $200^{\circ}C$ to over $1090^{\circ}C$, in combination with good low and high temperature mechanical strength. Recently, this material is also used widely in offshore processing piping in order to extend the maintenance term and improvement the quality of anti-corrosion. In general, high quality weldments for this material are readily produced by commonly used processes. Not all processes are applicable to this material group, Ni-alloys. Metallurgical characteristics or the unavailability of matching, position or suitable welding process. Nowadays, the flux cored wire is developed and applied for the better productivity in several welding position including the vertical position. In this study, the weldability and weldment characteristics(mechanical properties) of inconel 625 are considered in FCAW(Flux Cored Arc Welding) associated with the severial shielding gases($80%Ar+20%CO_2,\;50%Ar+50%CO_2,\;100%CO_2$) in viewpoint of welding productivity.
Restrictions on the emissions of nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides, carbon dioxide, and particulate matter from marine engines are being tightened. Each of these emissions requires different reduction technologies, which are costly and require many pieces of equipment to meet the requirements. Liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel has a great advantage in reducing harmful emissions emitted from ships. Therefore, the marine engine application of LNG fuel is significantly increasing in new ship buildings. Accordingly, this study analyzed the internal support structure, insulation type, and fuel supply piping system of a 35 m3 International Maritime Organization C type pressurized storage tank of an LNG-fueled ship. Analysis of the heat transfer characteristics revealed that A304L stainless steel has a lower heat flux than A553 nickel steel, but the effect is not significant. The heat flux of pearlite insulation is much lower than that of vacuum insulation. Moreover, the analysis results of the constraint method of the support ring showed no significant difference. A553 steel containing 9% nickel has a higher strength and lower coefficient of thermal expansion than A304L, making it a suitable material for cryogenic containers.
Pipe routing is a important part of the whole design process in the shipbuilding industry. It has a lot of constraints and many tasks that should be considered together. Also, the result of this stage affects follow-up works in a wide scope. Therefore, this part requires skilled designers and a lot of time. This study aims to reduce the workload and time during the design process by automating the pipe route design on initial stage. In this study, the reinforcement learning was used for pipe auto-routing. Reinforcement learning has the advantage of dynamically selecting routes, unlike existing algorithms. Therefore, it is suitable for the pipe routing design in ship design process which is frequently modified. At last, the effectiveness of this study was verified by comparing pipelines which were designed by piping designer and reinforcement learning results.
