관로를 통하여 수송되는 원통형 캡슐의 거동에 대하여 캡슐밀도의 균일성이 미치는 영향 (The Effects of the Capsule Density Uniformity on the Behavior of Cylindrical Capsules Transpored through a Pipeline)

  • 본 논문은 캡슐밀도의 균일성의 영향을 고려하여 관로내에서의 원통형 캡슐 흐름의 특성을 이해하기 위하여 수행된 연구결과를 기술한다. 캡슐의 중심 축방향으로의 밀도변화 영향을 실험적으로나 분석적인 방법으로 연구하였다. 실험은 직경 190mm, 길이 18m인 관에서 수행되었으며, 속도, 캡슐의 기울기, 캡슐바닥과 관과 간격이 여러가지 실험조건하에서 측정되었다. 실험데이타를 해석하기 위하여 무차원 변수로 주어지는 안정성지수(Stability Index)가 유도되었다. 관로에서의 캡슐의 거동은 안정성지수에 크게 영향을 받는다. 실험결과는 안정성지수가 캡슐거동과 캡슐밀도의 균일성과의 상관관계를 잘 설명하여주는 유효한 기준임을 증명하였다.

해수 담수화 설비의 취수 및 배출수 해저 배관 최적화 설계 (Optimal Design of Submarine Pipeline for Intake and Discharge of Seawater Desalination Facilities)

  • Desalination plants have been recently constructed in many parts of the world due to water scarcity caused by population growth, industrialization and climate change. Most seawater desalination plants are designed with a submarine pipeline for intake and discharge. Submarine pipelines are installed directly on the bottom of the water body if the bottom is sandy and flat. Intake is located on a low-energy shoreline with minimal exposure to beach erosion, heavy storms, typhoons, tsunamis, or strong underwater currents. Typically, HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) pipes are used in such a configuration. Submarine pipelines cause many problems when they are not properly designed; HDPE pipelines can be floated or exposed to strong currents and wind or tidal action. This study examines the optimal design method for the trench depth of pipeline, analysis of on-bottom stability and dilution of the concentrate based on the desalination plant conducted at the Pacific coast of Peru, Chilca. As a result of this study, the submarine pipeline should be trenched at least below 1.8 m. The same direction of pipeline with the main wind is a key factor to achieve economic stability. The concentrate should be discharged as much as high position to yield high dilution rate.

가스관의 자속누설탐사에서 잔류자화의 영향에 관한 연구 (Effects of Residual Magnetization on MEL Non-destructive Inspection of Gas Pipeline)

  • 가스관의 비파괴검사로 가장 널리 사용되고 있는 자속누설탈사에서 가스배관의 잔류자화(residual magnetization, $M_{res}$)와 탐사횟수가 누설자속에 미치는 영향을 정량적으로 간편하게 실험실에서 해석할 수 있도록 배관대신에 소형의 모의장치를 제작하여 조사하였다. 제작된 장치는 나사에 의한 결함까지도 측정할 수 있고 또 원형 링을 완벽히 탈자시킬 수 있어 탐사가 진행됨에 따라 잔류자화의 영향, 배관의 자화상태변화와 누설자속 등을 효과적으로 모사할 수 있었다. 탐사횟수가 증가할수록 잔류자화, 최대자속밀도 그리고 검출전압은 감소하다가 일정해지지만 초기잔류자화(initial $M_{res}$)가 커지면 최종잔류자화(final $M_{res}$)도 커졌다. 탐사조건이 일정할 경우 검출전압은 배관의 최대자속밀도보다는 직전의 잔류자화의 크기에 직선적으로 비례하였으며 이것은 탄소강으로 만들어진 원형 링의 자기이력현상, 즉 자구구조의 변화 때문에 생기는 것으로 정확한 탐사신호를 해석하기 위해서는 이력현상을 고찰할 필요가 있다. 또 잔류자화가 크면 첫 번째 탐사에서 높은 검출전압을 얻을 수 있다는 것을 착안하여 두 번째 탐사에서는 착자기의 자화방향을 바꾸면 높은 검출을 얻을 수 있음을 제안하였다.

교류가 유도되는 매설배관에서의 교류 부식속도 측정에 관한 연구 (Corrosion Rate of Buried Pipeline by Induced Alternating Current)

  • 천연가스 공급용 고압 지하 매설배관에 교류가 유도될 때 쿠폰과 전기저항형 박막센서를 이용하여 교류에 의한 부식속도를 평가하고 주요한 인자를 규명하고자 하였다. 전국에 걸쳐 조사된 교류전압 측정결과를 바탕으로 쿠폰과 전기저항형 박막센서를 설치하고, 주요인자를 고찰하기 위하여 다양한 인자들 (교류전압, 교류전류, 토양 비저항, 주파수, 방식전위)을 정기적으로 기록하였다. 황산동 전극기준 -850mV의 방식전위를 충분히 만족하는 상황에서도 교류에 의한 부식이 진행하였으며, 교류에 의한 부식속도는 교류전압과는 관계없이 교류전류밀도와 주파수에 의존하는 것으로 나타났다. 교류에 의한 부식속도는 유효교류전류밀도에 따라 직선적으로 증가하였으며, 쿠폰에 의한 평가결과 직선의 기울기는 0.619, 전기저항형 센서에 의한 직선의 기울기는 0.885로 나타났다.

Vessel traffic geometric probability approaches with AIS data in active shipping lane for subsea pipeline quantitative risk assessment against third-party impact

  • A subsea pipeline designed across active shipping lane prones to failure against external interferences such as anchorage activities, hence risk assessment is essential. It requires quantifying the geometric probability derived from ship traffic distribution based on Automatic Identification System (AIS) data. The actual probability density function from historical vessel traffic data is ideal, as for rapid assessment, conceptual study, when the AIS data is scarce or when the local vessels traffic are not utilised with AIS. Recommended practices suggest the probability distribution is assumed as a single peak Gaussian. This study compares several fitted Gaussian distributions and Monte Carlo simulation based on actual ship traffic data in main ship direction in an active shipping lane across a subsea pipeline. The results shows that a Gaussian distribution with five peaks is required to represent the ship traffic data, providing an error of 0.23%, while a single peak Gaussian distribution and the Monte Carlo simulation with one hundred million realisation provide an error of 1.32% and 0.79% respectively. Thus, it can be concluded that the multi-peak Gaussian distribution can represent the actual ship traffic distribution in the main direction, but it is less representative for ship traffic distribution in other direction. The geometric probability is utilised in a quantitative risk assessment (QRA) for subsea pipeline against vessel anchor dropping and dragging and vessel sinking.

국내 가스 사고사례 중 NG 및 LPG의 가스 화재.폭발사고 예측시스템 구축에 관한 연구 (Study on Prediction System Construction of Fire.Explosion Accident by NG & LPG among Domestic Gas Accidents)

  • 한국적 상황에 적절한 사회적 위험기준을 제시하고, 도시가스시설에 대한 화재 및 폭발사고에 대한 포괄적이고 정량적인 예측프로그램을 만들기 위하여 최근 11년간의 가스사고 데이터베이스를 분석하였다. 동종유형의 가스사고 발생가능성을 판단할 수 있는 Poisson분석 방법을 적용한 결과(t=5년), 시공 작업 부주의-폭발-배관의 항목의 사고발생반도가 가장 작았으며, 배관연결부이완부식-누출-배관의 경우는 가장 높은 빈도를 나타내었다. 따라서 이에 대한 적절한 가스사고 대응책이 마련되어야 할 것이다 향후 가스사고에 대한 신뢰성 있는 분석을 위해서는 가스로 인한 화재 폭발사고에 대한 데이터베이스를 지속적으로 확충보완을 시켜야 되며, 이를 위한 표준 코드화 작업이 요구된다.

The effects of half-section waste tire reinforcement on pipe deformation behavior

  • Every year, millions of waste tires are discarded across the world. Storage of waste tires presents many problems such as fire threats, epidemics, and non-economic factors. Furthermore, the disintegration process of waste tires is not economical or practical due to its time-consuming, and disposal requirements. In this study, half-section waste tires (HSWTs) were integrated with high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes under different relative density conditions. The main aim of the study was to reduce the deformation values of embedded HDPE pipes in sandy soil and to evaluate the soil-pipe interaction. In comprehensive laboratory tests, half-section waste tires were integrated in two different ways: in the middle of the pipeline and along the pipeline. Accordingly, it was concluded that the effectiveness of waste tires reduces the deformation and bending moment values in the critical regions of pipes. As a result of reinforcement in the mid-point of the pipe defined as the most critical region, 52% and 36% less deformation was observed in the crown and springlines of the pipe, respectively. In addition, the bending moment values for the same critical section were determined to be 40% less in the crown and 28% less in the springline regions of the pipe.

High-density genetic mapping using GBS in Chrysanthemum

  • Chrysanthemum is one of the most important floral crop in Korea produced about 7 billion dollars (1 billion for pot and 6 billion for cutting) in 2013. However, it is difficult to breed and to do genetic study because 1) it is highly self-incompatible, 2) it is outcrossing crop having heterozygotes, and 3) commercial cultvars are hexaploid (2n = 6x = 54). Although low-density genetic map and QTL study were reported, it is not enough to apply for the marker assisted selection and other genetic studies. Therefore, we are trying to make high-density genetic mapping using GBS with about 100 $F_1s$ of C. boreale that is oHohhfd diploid (2n = 2x = 18, about 2.8Gb) instead of commercial culitvars. Since Chrysanthemum is outcrossing, two-way pseudo-testcross model would be used to construct genetic map. Also, genotype-by-sequencing (GBS) would be utilized to generate sufficient number of markers and to maximize genomic representation in a cost effective manner. Those completed sequences would be analyzed with TASSEL-GBS pipeline. In order to reduce sequence error, only first 64 sequences, which have almost zero percent error, would be incorporated in the pipeline for the analysis. In addition, to reduce errors that is common in heterozygotes crops caused by low coverage, two rare cutters (NsiI and MseI) were used to increase sequence depth. Maskov algorithm would also used to deal with missing data. Further, sparsely placed markers on the physical map would be used as anchors to overcome problems caused by low coverage. For this purpose, were generated from transcriptome of Chrysanthemum using MISA program. Among those, 10 simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers, which are evenly distributed along each chromosome and polymorphic between two parents, would be selected.

In-Service Identification of the Heterogeneous Zone in Petrochemical Pipelines by Using Sealed Gamma-Ray Sources $(^{60}Co,\;^{137}Cs)$

  • In-service diagnoses of pipeline facilities are important for a systematic maintenance of them. Field applications by using sealed gamma-ray sources $(^{60}Co,\;^{137}Cs)$ were performed to identify the heterogeneous zone in the pipelines of a distillation tower and a flare stack respectively. From the results, the heterogeneous zones in the pipelines were successfully identified. In the case of the pipeline connected to the distillation tower, a vapor pocket was detected in the fluid under hydrodynamic conditions, which could explain the reason for a decrease of the flow rate. In another case, an area with some amount of catalyst deposits was found at the bottom of the gas pipeline which was connected to the flare stack. And these findings provided important information for the process operators. Diagnosis technique by using gamma radiation sources has been proven to be an effective and reliable method for providing information on a media distribution in a facility.

The Effects of the Capsule Density Uniformity on the Behavior of Cylindrical Capsules Transported through a Pipiline

  • This paper presents the results of a study conducted to improve the understanding of the characteristics of cylindrical capsule flow in a pipeline by taking into account of the effect of capsule density uniformity. The effect fo capsule density variation in the axial direction was studied both experimentally and analytically. The experiments were conducted in a 190mm diameter straight pipe 17m long. The velocity, gap and tilt of capsules were measured under various conditions. In order to interpret the data on various capsule density conditions, the stability index given in the dimensionless number was introduced. The motion of capsules in pipelines is strongly affected by the stability of the capsules characterized by the statility index. The experiments conducted proved that the stability index is a vaild criterion for explaining and correlating data on the capsule motion and the capsule denisity uniformity.
