Bi-2223 초전도 선재의 후열처리 과정에 의한 석출물의 형성 (Formation of the precipitates in the Bi-2223/Ag superconducting tapes by post-heat treatment)

  • To tap the possibility of exploiting the precipitates as flux-pinning center in the Bi-2223 superconducting system, as-received Bi-2223/Ag tapes with the starting composition of Bi$_{1.8}$Pb$_{0.4}$Sr$_2$Ca$_{2.2}$Cu$_3$O$_8$ were post-annealed at various temperature, oxygen partial pressure, and annealing time. The 2$^{nd}$ phases in the annealed specimen were analysed with XRD, SEM, TEM, and EDS. The size and the distribution of the precipitates such as (Ca,Sr)$_2$(Pb,Bi)O$_4$ and Bi$_{0.5}$Pb$_3$Sr$_2$Ca$_2$CuO$_{12+{\delta}}$ (3221) in the Bi-2223 matrix was controllable by varying heat-treatment condition without breaking the connectivity of the 2223 grains. The nano-size precipitates within the 2223 grains are conjectured as working as flux-pinning sites, resulting in increased J$_c$ value.

Synthesis of high quality infinite-layer superconducting compound of Sr$_{0.9}$Sm$_{0.1}$CuO$2$ and its pinning properties

  • We report high pressure synthesis of Sr$_{0.9}$Sm$_{0.1}$CuO$_2$. Powder x-ray diffraction showed that the synthesized compounds have infinite layer structure as a major component. Slow heating at the first stage of heating processes after pressurization resulted in several larger grains. The largest grain was found to have the longest edge length of about 100 micrometer. Through magnetic property measurement in superconducting state, we found that pinning in this compound has substantial difference from that of La doped infinite layer, which has no unpaired spin at Sr site.

Flux Pinning Enhancement and Irreversibility Line of Sm doped YBCO Superconductor by Zone Melt Growth Process

  • High T$\_$c/ (Sm/Y)$\_$1.8/Ba$\_$2.4/Cu$\_$3.4/O$\_$7-$\delta$/ [(Sm/Y)] superconductor, a combination of Y and Sm(50% each), was systematically investigated by the zone melt growth process. A sample prepared by this method showed well-textured microstructure, and (Sm/Y)$_2$BaCuO$\_$5/[(Sm/Y)211]inclusions were uniformly dispersed in large (Sm/Y)Ba$_2$Cu$_3$O$\_$y/ [(Sm/Y)123]matrix. The sample showed a sharp superconducting transition at 91 K. The magnetization measurements of the (Sm/Y)1.8 sample exhibited the enhanced flux pinning, compared with Y$\_$1.8/Ba$\_$2.4/Cu$\_$3.4/O$\_$7-$\delta$/(Y1.8) sample without Sm. Critical current densities of (Sm/Y) 1.8 sample was 3.5${\times}$10$^4$A/$\textrm{cm}^2$ at 1 T and 77 K.

  • 최근 클라우드를 지원하는 Xen 가상화 환경에서 HPC를 구현하는 서비스의 수가 증가하고 있다. 따라서 SMP기반의 병렬컴퓨팅 구현을 위한 표준 라이브러리인 OpenMP 연산효율의 중요성이 높아지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 Xen 가상화 기반 OpenMP 환경에서 CPU Pinning 적용 여부에 따라 다양한 태스크 스케줄링의 성능 변화를 측정하기 위한 실험을 수행하였다. 실험결과, CPU Pinning을 적용했을 시정적 스케줄링은 3.7%, 동적 스케줄링은 3.4%, 태스크 지시자 스케줄링은 3.8%의 성능 향상을 보였다. 이러한 결과는 Xen 가상화 환경에서 효율적인 병렬 컴퓨팅 기법 설계를 위한 방향을 제시한다.

YBa2Cu3O7-y 초전도 벌크의 중성자 조사 효과 (Neutron Irradiation Effect of YBa2Cu3O7-y Superconductor)

  • The electrical characteristics of single-crystal composite superconductors produced by a melting process were studied by neutron irradiation. In order to improve the current characteristics of the YBa2Cu3O7-y superconductor, it is necessary to form an effective flux pinning center inside the superconductor. In this study, an increase in flux pinning was attempted through neutron irradiation onto YBa2Cu3O7-y superconductors. The neutron irradiation was performed at 30 MeV for 500 sec, The electrical properties of the superconductors were measured in a magnetic field of 5 Tesla at 50 K using a magnetic properties measurement system (MPMS). After neutron irradiation, the critical current density of the YBa2Cu3O7-y superconductor in a 1 Tesla magnetic field was 1×105 A/cm2. Once neutrons were irradiated at 30 MeV and 10 μA for 500 sec, the critical current density was observed to increase significantly. When neutrons are irradiated to a superconductor, micro-defects are created in the superconductor, and they act as flux pinning centers that hold the magnetic field generated when an electric current flows.

Superconductivity of HTS REBCO coated conductors with multi-superconducting layers

  • We fabricated MHOS (multi-HTS layers on one substrate) high-temperature superconducting (HTS) REBCO conductors using HTS REBCO coated conductor (CC) A-specimen, which induces an artificial magnetic flux pinning effect, and HTS REBCO CC B-specimen, that does not induce this effect. The superconducting magnetic properties of the fabricated MHOS conductors were examined by measuring their magnetic moment m(H) curves using a physical property measurement system (QD PPMS-14). The critical current density (Jc) characteristics of our four-layered MHOS HTS REBCO conductor specimens such as BAAB, BBBB, and AAAA were lower than those of their two-layered and three-layered counterparts. At a temperature T of 30 K the magnetic flux pinning physical indicator δ values (obtained from the relationship Jc ∝ H) of the three-layer ABA (δ = 0.35) and two-layer AB (δ = 0.43) specimens were found to be significantly lower than those of the four-layer ABBA (δ = 0.51), BAAB (δ = 0.60), AAAA (δ = 0.78) and BBBB (δ = 0.81) structures.

  • [ $BaZrO_3$ ], nanopowder was added to YBCO powder to make ($BazrO_3)_x(YBCO)_{(100-x)mol.-%}$ ($BZO_x$-YBCO) ($0{\leq}x{\leq}10$) composite targets fur pulsed laser deposition of superconducting layer in order to investigate the effect of the addition of BZO nanopowder in the YBCO target on the flux pinning properties of $BZO_x$-YBCO thin films. All the $BZO_x$-YBCO thin films were grown on single crystal STO substrate under similar conditions in the PLD chamber. The effect of YBCO targets doped with BZO on the flux pinning properties of $BZO_x$-YBCO thin films has been investigated comparatively. The isothermal magnetizations M(H) of the films were measured at temperatures between 5 and 80 K in fields up to 5 T, employing a PPMS. The optimal amount of BZO nanopowders in $BZO_x$-YBCO thin films to obtain the strongest flux pinning effects at high magnetic fields is about 6 mol.-%.
