Objectives: Exercise with partially restricted blood flow is a low-load, low-intensity resistance training regimen which may have the potential to increase muscle strength in the obese, elderly and frail who are unable to do high-load training. Restricted blood flow exercise has also been shown to affect blood vessel function variably and can, therefore, contribute to blood vessel dysfunction. This pilot study tests the hypothesis that unilateral resistance training of the leg extensors with partially restricted blood flow increases muscle strength and decreases vascular autoregulation. Methods: The subjects were nine normotensive, overweight, young adult African-Americans with low cardiorespiratory fitness who underwent unilateral training of the quadriceps' femoris muscles with partially restricted blood flow at 30% of the 1-repetition maximum (1-RM) load for 3 weeks. The 1-RM load and post-occlusion blood flow to the lower leg (calf) were measured during reactive hyperemia. Results: The 1-RM load increased in the trained legs from $77{\pm}3$ to $84{\pm}4 kg$ (P < 0.05) in the absence of a significant effect on the 1-RM load in the contralateral untrained legs (P > 0.1). Post-occlusion blood flow decreased significantly in the trained legs from $19{\pm}2$ to $13{\pm}2mL{\cdot}min^{-1}{\cdot}dL^{-1}$ (P < 0.05) and marginally in the contralateral untrained legs from $18{\pm}2$ to $16{\pm}1mL{\cdot}min^{-1}{\cdot}dL^{-1}$ (P = 0.09). Changes in post-occlusion blood flow to the skin overlying the trained and the contralateral untrained muscles were not significant. Conclusion: These results demonstrate that restricted blood flow exercise, which results in significant gains in muscle strength, may produce decrements in endothelial dysfunction and vascular autoregulation. Future studies should determine whether pharmacopuncture plays a role in treatments for such blood vessel dysfunction.

This paper provides a detailed account of pilot testing conducted at South Lake Tahoe (California), the Ddukdo (Seoul) water treatment plant (WTP) and the Bokjung (Seongnam) WTP between February, 2010, and February, 2012. The objectives were first, to characterize the reactions of ozone with hydrogen peroxide (Peroxone) for Han River water following sand filtration, second to determine empirical ozone and hydrogen peroxide doses to remove a taste-and-odor surrogate 2-methylisoborneol (MIB) using an advanced oxidation process (AOP) configuration and third, to determine the optimum dosing configuration to reduce residual ozone to a safe level at the exit of the process. The testing was performed in a real-time plant environment at both low- and high seasonal water temperatures. Experimental results including ozone decomposition rates were dependent on temperature and pH, consistent with data reported by other researchers. MIB in post-sand-filtration water was spiked to 40-50 ng/L, and in all cases, it was reduced to below the specified target level (7 ng/liter) and typically non-detect (ND). It was demonstrated that Peroxone could achieve both MIB removal and low effluent ozone residual at ozone+hydrogen peroxide doses less than those for ozone alone. An empirical predictive model, suitable for use by design engineers and operating personnel and for incorporation in plant control systems was developed. Due to a significant reduction in the ozone reaction/decomposition at low winter temperatures, results demonstrate the hydrogen peroxide can be "pre-conditioned" in order to increase initial reaction rates and achieve lower ozone residuals. Results also indicate the method, location and composition of hydrogen peroxide injection is critical to successful implementation of Peroxone without using excessive chemicals or degrading performance.
Assessment in music therapy is a vital part for both the therapist and client in the process of therapy. Based on what is assessed, objectives are identified to formulate specific action procedures and strategies. The existing assessment tools involve lists of skills and behaviors in developmental domains without the music assessment protocol. In this study, the authors attempted to develop an assessment protocol using rhythm production for assessing skills in cognitive and emotional-behavior domain, namely Music Therapy Assessment for Cognitive and Emotional Behaviors (MACEB). The test items of the MACEB-Rhythm were developed using rhythmic patterns varying in terms of item difficulty, which are based on the various degree of clarity in the grouping/gestalt, saliency in part-whole relationship, and complexity in repetition vs. variability. Also the developed tool purported to examine one's level of emotional behavior trait by analyzing performance of musical parameters such as tempo, pacing, and loudness in the reproduced output. In order to verify the logical sequencing of test items, firstly 61 subjects participated in verifying the item difficulty for the selected 15 pilot items. The test items were revised and re-sequenced based on the gathered scores of item difficulty. In the second procedure, seven experts in the fields of music education, music therapy and music psychology whose research interest lie in music cognition revised the developed rhythm protocol items focusing on learning sequence, cognitive process and feasibility for skills assessment. The study attempted to provide foundations for using rhythm as an assessment protocol prior to its verification of assessment validity and reliability.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the performances and limitations of health community building project of 148 village in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul on community health organization perspective. Methods: we conducted a qualitative study using both a systematic review of this project and in-depth interviews with the operators who had worked for the project from January 2012 to December 2012. Results: In this project, activists worked by gathering the opinions of the residents and focusing on their growth. The residents themselves established a community health care plan. Based on social determinants of health, they continued projects to solve residents' needs. A variety of programs were activated by providing a health cafe, which was an alternative public participation health promotion space that was not a clinic or a public health center. As the various entities gathered, there were difficulties related to interests and role sharing, and there were limitations such as the fact that the performance and limit of the pilot project could not be clearly predicted beforehand. Conclusions: This case suggested that new possibility of health and medical movement, approaching health issues by the way of community organization principle. Through the health community building project as community health organization perspective is expanded, health promotion effect will be created in the whole society.

To recover transmitted signal perfectly at DTV receiver, we have to acquire carrier frequency synchronization to compensate pilot signal which located in wrong position and rotated phase. Also, we need a symbol timing synchronization to compensate sampling timing error. Conventionally, to synchronize symbol timing, we use Gardner's scheme which used in multi-level signal. Gardner's scheme is well known for its sampling the timing error signal from every symbol and it makes easy to detect and keep timing sync in multi-path channel. In this paper, to discuss the problem when the received power level is out of range and we cannot get synchronization information. With this problem, we use 2 step procedures. First, we put a received signal power compensation block before Garder's timing error detector. Second, adaptive loop filter to get a fast synchronization information and averaging loop filter's output value to reduce the amount of jitter after synchronization in PLL(Phased Locked Loop) circuit which is used to get a carrier frequency synchronization and symbol timing synchronization. Using the averaging value, we can estimate offset. Based on offset changing ratio, we can adapt adaptive loop filter to carrier frequency and symbol timing synchronization circuit.

Climate change could have a pronounced impact on natural and agricultural ecosystems. To assess the impact of climate change, projected climate data have been used as inputs to models. Because such studies are conducted occasionally, it would be useful to employ Cloud computing, which provides multiple instances of operating systems in a virtual environment to do processing on demand without building or maintaining physical computing resources. Furthermore, it would be advantageous to use open source geospatial applications in order to avoid the limitations of proprietary software when Cloud computing is used. As a pilot study, Amazon Web Service ? Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) was used to calculate the number of days with rain in a given month. Daily sets of climate projection data, which were about 70 gigabytes in total, were processed using virtual machines with a customized database transaction application. The application was linked against open source libraries for the climate data and database access. In this approach, it took about 32 hours to process 17 billion rows of record in order to calculate the rain day on a global scale over the next 100 years using ten clients and one server instances. Here I demonstrate that Cloud computing could provide the high level of performance for impact assessment studies of climate change that require considerable amount of data.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to define a standard score of Sensory Processing Scale for Children (SPS-C) and its concurrent validity by correlation with the Short Sensory Profile (SSP). Methods : The subjects were children enrolled in nurseries and kindergartens in Busan and Gyeongnam. We defined the standard score of the SPS-C and identified its concurrent validity for 337 children. Both the SPS-C and SSP instruments were used to assess the children's sensory processing ability. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 24.0. A statistical analysis was used to define the standard score for SPS-C based on the mean and SDs of -1 and -2. To identify the concurrent validity of the SPS-C, the correlation between it and SSP was measured using Pearson's correlation analysis. Results : The ranges of total standard scores on the SPS-C were classified as follows: 115~160 indicated "Typical Performance"; 105~114 indicated "Probable Difference"; and finally, 50~104 indicated "Definite Difference." Concurrent validity was ascertained using the Pearson correlation between the total scores of the SPS-C and the SSP; the Pearson correlation coefficient was .755, indicating a statistically significant correlation. Conclusion : This study suggests the standard score of the SPS-C for interpreting results in clinical settings and confirms that it is a valid tool for evaluating children's sensory processing ability.

In this study, cement-based filler is used as an adhesive instead of organic adhesive, epoxy because there were problems under wet condition. First, the bond strength of cement-based filler was measured and the result was satisfied with KS F 4716. However, in case of wet condition, bond strength of epoxy adhesive decreased $0.73N/mm^2$ in 7 days and $0.84N/mm^2$ in 14 days from pilot test. This implies that there would be a problem on reinforced concrete structure in wet condition, such as tunnel and sewage box. In the second experiment, the flexural strength of RC beams with GFRP using different thickness of cement-based filler was investigated, and the result was indicated 113%, 66%, 75% increase in 10mm, 20mm, 30mm thickness, respectively. From the result, it was known that 10mm filler thickness produces stable bond performance.
Recently, the demands of accurate forest carbon stock estimation and mapping are increasing in Korea. This study investigates the feasibility of two methods, k-Nearest Neighbor (kNN) and Regression Tree Analysis (RTA), for carbon stock estimation of pilot areas, Gongju and Sejong cities. The 3rd and 5th ~ 6th NFI data were collected together with Landsat TM acquired in 1992, 2010 and Aster in 2009. Additionally, various vegetation indices and tasseled cap transformation were created for better estimation. Comparison between two methods was conducted by evaluating carbon statistics and visualizing carbon distributions on the map. The comparisons indicated clear strengths and weaknesses of two methods: kNN method has produced more consistent estimates regardless of types of satellite images, but its carbon maps were somewhat smooth to represent the dense carbon areas, particularly for Aster 2009 case. Meanwhile, RTA method has produced better performance on mean bias results and representation of dense carbon areas, but they were more subject to types of satellite images, representing high variability in spatial patterns of carbon maps. Finally, in order to identify the increases in carbon stock of study area, we created the difference maps by subtracting the 1992 carbon map from the 2009 and 2010 carbon maps. Consequently, it was found that the total carbon stock in Gongju and Sejong cities was drastically increased during that period.

This study was conducted to evaluate the grit removal efficiency of tornado block-type vortex grit separator. Vortex grit separator was manufactured for this study, and it was characterized by the impeller and tornado block installed in separator. Impeller was installed to increase water velocity in the separator and tornado block was installed to increase the grit lifting efficiency. Pilot study was also conducted in A sewage treatment plant (STP) in Gyeonggi province from November 2003 to May 2004 (64 days). Major findings are as follows. 1. Impeller was proven to increase water velocity in the grit separator, especially in low flow rate. This influence will increase separation ratio of organics from grits, preventing those organics from sedimentation. 2. Sand (with 0.2~0.3mm size) removal efficiency was over 98 % and 96 %, at the flow rate of $500m^3/day$ and $750m^3/day$ under the condition that impeller rotation velocity kept at 15 rpm. Originally that grit separator was designed to have the capacity of $500m^3/day$. $750m^3/day$ was tried to investigate the performance of this type of grit separator under overload condition. Stable grit removal was still available to the extent of 150% of designed capacity. 3. It took less than 3 minutes for the grit separator to completely lift out 3 kgs of 0.2-0.3 mm sized, settled sand at the bottom to 2,060 mm high above water surface. But it showed the tendency to spend a little more time on lifting the grit as the grit size and the vertical height of the lift increased. 4. During experimental duration in A STP, it was found that the average amount of inlet grit was about 981 g/day (160~1,685 g/day) under $500m^3/day$ of operation condition, but it varied so severely during the experimental duration. After classification of discharged grit according to its size, grit with 0.3-0.42 mm size was found as largest part of output.
