진동 측정용 압전형 가속도센서의 압전특성 효과 (Influence of Effective Piezoelectric Properties on Performance of Piezoelectric Accelerometer for Vibration Measurements)

  • In order to investigate the performance of compression-type accelerometer on piezoelectric properties, PZT materials have been studied. The ring-shaped piezoelectric elements were prepared using commercial PZT powders by conventional ceramic process. Their estimated relative dielectric constant, piezoelectric charge constant (d33) and voltage constant (g33) values showed 390∼3400, (90∼593)×10-12 C/N and (19.5∼40.5)×10-3 V-m/N, respectively. The charge sensitivity of accelerometer is proportional to the piezoelectric charge constant value (d33) of PZT, but its voltage sensitivity is related with the piezoelectric voltage constant (g33). Since the mounted resonance frequency and sensitivity are dependent on the seismic mass as well as physical charateristics and size of PZT elements, the suitable considerations between two components are required for accelerometer's design.

Dielectric and Piezoelectric Properties of "Lead-free" Piezoelectric Rhombohedral Ba(Ti0.92Zr0.08)O3 Single Crystals

  • Rhombohedral $Ba(Ti_{0.92}Zr_{0.08})O_3$ single crystals are fabricated using the cost-effective solid-state single crystal growth (SSCG) method; their dielectric and piezoelectric properties are also characterized. Measurements show that (001) $Ba(Ti_{0.92}Zr_{0.08})O_3$ single crystals have an electromechanical coupling factor ($k_{33}$) higher than 0.85, piezoelectric charge constant ($d_{33}$) of about 950 [pC/N], and piezoelectric voltage constant ($g_{33}$) higher than 40 [${\times}10^{-3}Vm/N$]. Especially the $d_{33}$ of (001) $Ba(Ti_{0.92}Zr_{0.08})O_3$ single crystals was by about six times higher than that of their ceramics. Because their electromechanical coupling factor ($k_{33}$) and piezoelectric voltage constant ($d_{33}$, $g_{33}$) are higher than those of soft PZT ceramics, it is expected that rhombohedral (001) $Ba(Ti_{0.92}Zr_{0.08})O_3$ single crystals can be used as "lead-free" piezoelectric materials in many piezoelectric applications such as actuator, sensor, and transducer.

액츄에이터용 PMW-PNN-PZT 세라믹스의 압전특성 (Piezoelectric Characteristics of PMW-PNN-PZT Ceramics for Actuator Application)

  • In this study, in order to develop low temperature sintering piezoelectric actuator, $Pb(Mg_{1/2}W_{1/2})_{0.03}(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})_x(Zr_{0.50},Ti_{0.50})_{1-x-0.03}$ (PMW-PNN-PZT) ceramic systems were fabricated using $CaCO_3-Li_2CO_3$ sintering aid and their dielectric and piezoelectric properties were investigated with the variation of PNN substitution. The piezoelectric actuator requires high piezoelectric constant $d_{33}$ and high electromechanical coupling factor kp. At the PMW-PNN-PZT ceramics with 9mol% PNN substitution sintered at $900^{\circ}C$, the density, electromechanical coupling factor kp, dielectric constant, piezoelectric constant $d_{33}$ and mechanical quality factor Qm showed the excellent values of 7.86 [$g/cm^3$], 0.584, 1881, 485 [pC/N] and 76, respectively for piezoelectric actuator application.

  • Piezoelectric composites of O-3 connectivity were prepared by thermosetting barium titanate-phenolic resin composite under various cruing pressure. Among three kinds of pore in O-3 type ceramic-polymer composite, such as matrix pores, particle pores, and ceramic-polymer interface pores, the effect of interface porosity on the dielectric and piezoelectric constant was investigated. In pure barium titanate ceramics, the porosity factor of dielectric and piezoelectric constants were 5.7 and 5.0, respectively. However, in BaTiO3-polymer composite, the interface porosity factor of the piezoelectric constant was greater than that of the dielectric constant, interface porosity factor b in d33 was 9.8 and in r 4.6. On the other, piezoelectric voltage constant g33 was independent of the porosity of barium titanate ceramics. But in composite system, the piezoelectric voltage constant g33 was decreased with interface porosity.

  • In this study, in order to develop multilayer piezoelectric actuator, PMN-PNN-PZT ceramics were fabricated using $Li_2CO_3-Na_2CO_3$ as sintering aids and their piezoelectric and dielectric characteristics were investigated with the function of PNN substitution. With increasing PNN substitution, dielectric constant(${\varepsilon}r$), electromechanical coupling factor(kp), and piezoelectric d constant($d_{33}$) were increased at 10~12[mol%] PNN substitution and then decreased at all sintering temperature. With increasing PNN substitution, phase changed from tetragonal to rhombohedral at [10~12mol%] PNN substitution. At the 12[mol%] PNN substituted PMN-PZT composition ceramic sintered at 950[$^{\circ}C$], density, ${\varepsilon}r$, kp, $d_{33}$ and Qm showed the optimum value of 7.79[$g/cm^3$], 1160, 0.599, 419[pC/N) and 894, respectively for multilayer piezoelectric actuator application.

$LiNbO_3$단결정 성장 및 온도에 따른 압전 특성 평가 (Growth of $LiNbO_3$ single crystals and evaluation of the dependence of its piezoelectric properties on temperature)

  • Growth of $LiNbO_3$ single crystal by Czochralski method was carried out to study the piezoelectric effects. Piezoelectric coefficients and elastic compliances of the $LiNbO_3$ single crystal were determined by the resonance method of length-extentional mode of bar resonator from the room temperature up to $100^{\circ}C$. Two dielectric constants of $LiNbO_3$ were also determined by measuring the capacitance of the plate specimen. Measured constants were piezoelectric coefficients $d_{15},d_{22},d_{31},d_{33}$ elastic compliances $s^E_{11},s^E_{33},2s^E_{13}+2s^E_{44},s^E_{14}$ and dielectric constants $K^T_{11},K^T_{33}$. As temperature increased, elastic compliances changed very slowly while piezoelectric coeffiecients and dielectric constant $K^T_{33}$ changed very rapidly. Electromechanical coupling constant of zyw ($45^{\circ}C$)-bar was as high as 0.51 in room temperature and nearly constant up to $1000^{\circ}C$. The increase of piezoelectric coefficients was mainly due to the increase of dielectric permittivity.

(Na,K,Li)(Nb,Sb,Ta)O3계 세라믹스의 소성시간이 압전특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Sintering Time on the Piezoelectric Properties of (Na,K,Li)(Nb,Sb,Ta)O3 Ceramics)

  • In this paper, in order to develop excellent composition ceramics for a piezoelectric energy- harvesting device, we synthesized $0.99(Na_{0.52}\;K_{0.443}\;Li_{0.037})(Nb_{0.883}\;Sb_{0.08}\;Ta_{0.037})O_3$ + $0.01(Sr_{0.95}Ca_{0.05})TiO_3$ + $0.3\;wt%\;Bi_2O_3\;+\;0.3\;wt%\;Fe_2O_3\;+\;0.3\;wt%\;CuO$ (abbreviated as NKN-SCT) ceramics with different sintering times, using the ordinary solid-state reaction method. The effect of sintering time on the microstructure and piezoelectric properties was investigated. The ceramics with the sintering time of 7 h have the optimum values of the piezoelectric constant ($d_{33}$), piezoelectric voltage constant ($g_{33}$), planar piezoelectric coupling coefficient (kp), mechanical quality factor (Qm), and dielectric constant (${\varepsilon}r$): $d_{33}=314[pC/N]$, $g_{33}=20.07[10^{-3}mV/N]$, kp = 0.442, Qm = 93, ${\varepsilon}r=1,768$, all being suitable for a piezoelectric energy-harvesting device.

  • The effects of SiO2 MnO2 and sintering atmospheres (O2, N2) on the piezoelectric properties and densification behaviors of Pb0.98Cd0.02Zr0.36Ti0.39Ni0.083Nb0.167O3 were investigated. The addition of SiO2 to the system enhanced the rate of densification but supressed the rate of grain growth. On the other hand the addition of MnO2 to the system did not nearly affect the rate of densification but increased slightly the rate of grain growth The densification of Pb0.98Cd0.02Zr0.36Ti0.39Ni0.083Nb0.167O3 containing of SiO2 or MnO2 was promoted with increasing the partial pressure of O2. The relative dielectric constant ($\varepsilon$r) and piezoelectric constant (d33) of Pb0.98Cd0.02Zr0.36Ti0.39Ni0.083Nb0.167O3 containing of SiO2 or MnO2 sintered under O2 atmosphere were higher than under N2 atmosphere. Whereas the mechanical quality factor (Qm) of specimens sintered under O2 atmosphere were lower than under N2 atmosphere. Thus the sintering atmosphere of O2 and N2 in Pb0.98Cd0.02Zr0.36Ti0.39Ni0.083Nb0.167O3 containing of SiO2 or MnO2 acted as donor and acceptor respectively. As the amount of SiO2 increased the relative dielectric constant ($\varepsilon$r) and piezoelectric constant (d33) of Pb0.98Cd0.02Zr0.36Ti0.39Ni0.083Nb0.167O3 but the mechanical quality factor (Qm) did not nearly change, In the case of the addition of MnO2 to the system the relative dielectric constant ($\varepsilon$r) and piezoelectric constant (d33) of Pb0.98Cd0.02Zr0.36Ti0.39Ni0.083Nb0.167O3 sintered under O2 atmosphere decreased rapidly with increasing the amount of MnO2 but they were unchanged with increasing the amount of MnO2 under N2 sintering atmosphere. Therefore the differences of the relative dielect-ric constant ($\varepsilon$r) and piezoelectric constant (d33) due to sintering atmosphere were diminished as the amount of MnO2 increased.

  • In this study, in order to develop the lead-free piezoelectric ceramics with high piezoelectric and dielectric properties, $(K_{0.5}Na_{0.5})(Nb_{0.97}Sb_{0.03})O_3$ ceramics were fabricated using a conventional mixed oxide process and their piezoelectric and dielectric characteristics were investigated according to the $K_{5.4}Cu_{1.3}Ta_{10}O_{29}$ addition. $K_{5.4}Cu_{1.3}Ta_{10}O_{29}$ addition enhanced density, electromechanical coupling factor($k_p$) piezoelectric constant $d_{33}$ and mechanical quality factor($Q_m$). At the 0.9 mol% $K_{5.4}Cu_{1.3}Ta_{10}O_{29}$ addition, density, electromechanical coupling factor($k_p$), dielectric constant(${\varepsilon}_r$) and piezoelectric constant($d_{33}$) of specimen showed the optimum values of 0.46, 471, and 148 pC/N, respectively.

  • In this study, $(1-x)(Na_{0.52}K_{0.443}Li_{0.037})(Nb_{0.883}Sb_{0.08}Ta_{0.037})O_3-x(Bi_{0.5}(Na_{0.7}K_{0.3})_{0.5}ZrO_3$ ceramics were fabricated by BNKZ substitution using a conventional solid-state method to develop excellent lead-free piezoelectric ceramics for piezoelectric actuators; their dielectric and piezoelectric properties were then investigated. All specimens were in the orthorhombic phase. $NKL-NSTO_3$ ceramics with x=0.01 showed excellent piezoelectric properties. The density (${\rho}$), piezoelectric charge constant ($d_{33}$), planar piezoelectric coupling coefficient ($k_p$), mechanical quality factor ($Q_m$), and dielectric constant (${\varepsilon}_r$) had optimized values of $4.56g/cm^3$, 208 pC/N, 0.43, 96, and 975, respectively.
