압전 세라믹이 부착된 복합재 구조물의 진동 및 감쇠 특성 (Vibration and Damping Characteristics of Composite Structures with Piezo Ceramics)

  • A numerical computation and experimental test have been performed for the investigation of dynamic behavior of composite beams with bonded piezo ceramics. The present finite element method based on layerwise approach can effectively evaluate the characteristics of the composite beams with bonded piezo ceramics. The natural frequencies and damping values were measured by fitting the frequency response function obtained from FFT analyzer. The frequency-dependent damping properties of composite material were measured to utilize them for the finite element analysis of the composite beams with bonded piezo ceramics. The experimental results are in good agreement with those of finite element analysis.

  • Generally the piezo-composites have superior hydrostatic response characteristics than PZT ceramics due to both the stress amplification effect in axial direction and stress reduction effects in radial direction. This paper described material properties of a 1-3 type piezo-composite that fabricated with ceramic injection molding (CIM) technology. The electro-mechanical performances of the composite have been analyzed using FEM and the physical properties of the composite have been measured with the vol. % of the PZT ceramics. Based on the results, the $k_t$ increased rapidly as the vol. % of the PZT ceramics increased up to 30 vol. % and saturated the constant value in the above region. Also the experimental results have good agreement with the simulation values of the composite. Finally we developed the composites having high piezoelectric properties than the PZT ceramics with the CIM technology.

벤더 엘리멘트를 이용한 토목재료의 강성측정에 대한 적용성 연구 (A Pilot Study of Bender Elements in Stiffness Measurements of Civil Engineering Materials)

  • Piezo-ceramics are special materials which transform energy between mechanical and electrical forms. Bender-elements are composite materials consisting of thin piezo-ceramics and elastic shims, and are widely used as actuators and transducers in the field of electronics, robotics, autos and mechatronics utilizing the effectiveness of energy transformation capability. In geotechnical engineering, commercial bender-elements are used in laboratory as source and receiver in the measurements of soil stiffness. The elements were built by using various metal shims sandwiched between piezo-ceramics and coating over the composite in the research. A pair of elements were buried in a concrete block and used as source and receiver to measure the stiffness of the concrete. The test results were verified by comparing with the resonant column testing results. In a preliminary stage of the development of an in-situ seismic testing equipment using bender-elements for soft clay materials, shear waves were generated and measured by burying the elements in the barrel of kaolinite and water mixture. The measured shear wave signals were so distinct for the first-arrival pick that applicability of the elements in the field measurements is very promising.

  • Recently, developments of device using characteristics of ceramics as a new technical material is in progress. While doing so, Ultrasonic motor which is a part of research & development of piezo-actuator by piezo-effects is being used in the various applications. So, we fabricated a flat-type $L_{1}-B_{8}$ mode Ultrasonic motor and measured the operation characteristics of its. The size of USM is 80*20*1.5[$mm^{3}$](length*width*thickness) and is constructed with stator by piezo-ceramics and stainless elastic body and rotator by bearings. As results of experiments, the fastest speed of revolution(v), the maximum torque(T) and the efficiency( $\eta$ ) were 37.5[cm/sec], 5.0[ $mN{\cdot}m$ ] and 1.17[%] respectively when 27.9[kHz], 150[gf], 50[V] were applied. So, we think this $flat-type_{1}-B_{8}$ mode Ultrasonic motor is able to be used for applications in forwarding device of a paper or electric card and so on.

압전 스피커 응용을 위한 PSN-PZT계 세라믹스의 미세구조 분석 및 전기적 특성 평가 (Microstructures and Electrical Properties of PSN-PZT Ceramics for Piezoelectric Speaker)

  • $Pb(Sb_{0.5}Nb_{0.5})_x(Zr_{0.51}Ti_{0.49})_{1-x}O_3$ (abbreviation: PSN-PZT) ceramics were synthesized, using conventional bulk ceramic processing technology, with various PSN doping contents. The maximum density of PSN-PZT was 97% of the theoretical density in the samples sintered at $1,250^{\circ}C$. The maximum values of the piezoelectric properties achieved using the conventional processes were: $k_p$ of 0.625, $d_{33}$ of 531 pC/N, and $g_{33}$ of $33mV{\cdot}m/N$. Finally, we fabricated a piezo-speaker with the optimized PSN-PZT ceramics. The SPL of the speaker was measured at a distance of 1 m, with a driving voltage of $40V_{rms}$ in the frequency range of ~300 Hz to 9 kHz. The measured $SPL_{max}$ was at a very high level (95 dB), which was superior in quality in comparison with those of other commercial products.

현장 토목 계측을 위한 벤더 엘리멘트의 적용성 연구 (A Pilot Study of Implementing Bender Element to In-situ Civil Engineering Measurement)

  • 압전 소자는 전기적 에너지를 기계적 에너지로, 기계적 에너지를 전기적 에너지로 변환하는 물질이다. 피에조 세라믹판을 이용하여 탄성 매질을 겹쳐서 만든 벤더 엘리멘트는 전압을 가하면 변위가 발생하는 특성을 이용하여 액츄에이터로 사용할 수 있고, 반대로 변위가 생기면 전압이 발생하는 압전 현상을 이용하여 변위를 계측하는 트랜스듀서로 활용하여 탄성파 시험의 발진자와 수진기로 실내 시험에서 사용되고 있다. 벤더 엘리멘트를 이용한 탄성파 시험으로 토목재료로 많이 쓰이는 콘크리트의 강성을 측정하였고, 자유단 공진주 시험을 통하여 그 결과를 평가 하였다. 카올리나이트를 이용하여 연약지반을 모사하여 카올리나이트 슬러리의 압밀에 따른 강성 변화를 탄성파 시험을 이용하여 측정할 수 있다. 벤더 엘리멘트는 연약지반에서 전단파 계측에 탁월한 성능을 가지고 있으며, 장래에 연약지반 현장 계측에 사용될 가능성이 큰 것으로 입증되었다.

  • This paper reports an experimental investigation to design a tree-shaped wind power system using piezo-electric materials. The proposed system is to produce power if wind is strong enough to produce any bending motions in the energy converting elements, i.e., piezo-electric materials. Two different kinds of piezoelectric materials are used in the present study to produce power by scavenging energy from the wind. The soft flexible one made the leaf element while the hard one was applied to the trunk portion of the tree requiring rather strong winds to generate any power. Although small, each leaf deems to play the role of a power producer and currents are continuously trickling down to the storage battery installed at the bottom of the system.

  • 본 연구에서는 1_3형 압전복합체(1-3 type piezo-composite)의 전기-기계적 성능을 수치적으로 분석하였다. PZT 세라믹스의 압전물성 계산치를 실험치와 비교하여 수치 해석방법의 정확성을 검증하였다. 그리고 구성재료의 부피 비 및 물성, PZT 기둥의 종 횡비(aspect ratio) 등이 복합체의 $k_t$특성에 미치는 영향을 해석하였다. 그 결과, PZT 부피 비가 30 vol%까지 증가함에 복합체의 $k_t$ 특성은 급격하게 증가하다가 그 이상의 영역에서는 일정한 값에 수렴한다. 그리고 상대적으로 유연한 폴리머를 사용한 복합체가 전반적으로 우수한 $k_t$ 특성을 갖는다. 또한 PZT 부피비가 30 % 이하인 경우, 복합체의 $k_t$ 특성은 PZT 기둥의 종횡 비에 많은 영향을 받는다. 그러므로 $k_t$ 특성 향상을 위해서는 상대적으로 유연한 폴리머 및 우수한 압전특성의 PZT를 사용하여 복합체를 구성하는 것이 유리하다.

CuO가 PSN-PNN-PZT 세라믹스에 미치는 영향 (Effect of CuO on the PSN-PNN-PZT Ceramics)

  • In this study, to develop the low temperature sintering ceramics for multilayer piezoelectric transformer, PSN-PNN-PZT system ceramics were manufactured as a function of CuO addition. Its dielectric and piezoelectric characteristics were investigated. With increasing the amount of CuO addition, grain size was increased and density increased until 0.3wt% CuO. Taking into consideration electromechanical coupling factor(kp) of 0.53, mechanical quality factor(Qm) of 423 and ${\epsilon}r$ of 1759, it can be cincluded that the CuO 0.5wt% added composition sintered at $920^{\circ}C$ is suitable for piezoelectric transformer application if Qm is improved.
