A Simple Method for Sporangial Formation of the Rice Downy Mildew Pathogen, Sclerophthora macrospora

  • A simple method for sporangial formation of the rice downy mildew pathogen, Sclerophthora macrospora, on infected leaf tissues was developed to facilitate diagnosis of the disease. Freshly infected young leaves showing whitish to yellowish small spots were selected and cut into small pieces about 2-3 cm in length. About 10-20 pieces were surface sterilized in a 100 ml Duran bottle with 40 ml of 70% ethanol by vigorous shaking for 30 seconds. After washing three times with distilled water, the leaf cuts were submerged in 10 ml of Millipore-filtered paddy water and incubated at $20^{\circ}C$ in the dark. After 8-10 h of incubation, the bottle was vigorously agitated on a vortex mixer, Aliquot amount of the suspension, 0.1-1.0 m1, was spread on a slide glass and examined under a light microscope at 50 or 100x magnification. It was found that light and 1% NaClO strongly inhibit sporangial formation of S. macrospora. Meanwhile, the use of freshly infected young loaves and washing with 70% ethanol stimulated sporangial formation of the fungus on rice leaves.

제주도 종달리패총유적 4지구에서 출토된 동물뼈 유물의 비교해부학적 관찰 (Comparative Anatomical Study on Animal Bones Excavated from the Jongdal-Ri Shell Mound Archaeological Site IV on Jeju Island)

  • Animal bones that were excavated with earthenware at the Jongdal-ri shell mound archaeological site IV on Jeju Island were investigated morpholgically and osteometrically. This archaeological site is estimated to date from the late Tamra period to the unified Shilla Dynasty (A.D. 7C) based on the type of earthenware. The number of animal bones was 3,430 pieces(Quarter B : 758, Quarter C : 2,672). The animal species consisted of Cervus spp., Sus spp., Bos spp and Canivore. The animal bone pieces excavated at Quarter B consisted of those of Cervus(53.3%), Bos(2.8%) and Sus(13.7%). The bones of Cervus(53.3%), Bos(2.8%), Sus(13.7%) and Canivore(4.6%) were found at Quarter C. The greatest number of heads was unearthed as a whole, and the classification according to animal species showed that the heads were more visible than other bones. Forelimbs and hindlimbs were distributed evenly on the part of Cervus. The skeletons from Bos were identified in the order of heads, forelimbs and hindlimbs, while nearly all the Sus bones were found to be heads. These data suggests that Cervus, Sus and Bos are major fauna at the estimated period.

  • 남원 척문리 출토 은화관식의 보존처리 과정과 부식화합물의 종류를 소개하고자 한다. 또한 현재까지 출토된 백제시대 은화관식 12점의 4가지 기존 형식 분류를 구체화 하고, 각각의 은화관식을 비교한 결과 제작기법은 동일하나 크기나 두께에서 차이가 있었다. 이것으로 볼 때 은화관식을 제작할 당시 많은 수량을 한번에 만든 것이 아니고 필요할 때마다 제작된 것으로 추정된다.

  • There were excavated many relics about 200 pieces including gilt-bronze cap, gilt-bronze shoes, bronze mirror and armor, etc. in Ahndong tumulus, Gildu-ri, Goheung. The National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage was undertaking excavation of major damaged relics that were corroded by several environment and were destroyed by a lump of earth. Shoes are consolidated with soils in order to stop destroy during excavation. And these are relocated in order to treat for conservation. Before treatment, X-ray radiography and CT(Computed Tomography) are used in order to examine the original surface and the shape of shoes. As a result, we confirm the condition of shoes. If soils are removed, gilt-bronze shoes are crumbling into little pieces because gilt-bronze shoes are damaged by corrosion and deformation. So, shoes are consolidating with inner soils and are removing outer soils. Throughout conservation treatment, shoes recovered original form and inner soils are consolidated in order to keep the shape of shoes.

  • The purpose of the study was to confirm the influence of fluoride to enamel decalcification. Specimens were prepared from 20 extracted teeth. Every tooth was sliced into 4 pieces by means of seperating disc. The pieces with sound enamel were distributed to 4 groups. 1st group was treated with 0.5% NaF solution for 2 minutes. 2nd group was treated with 0.5% NaF solution for 10 minutes. 3rd group was treated with 1% NaF solution for 2 minutes. 4th group was treated with 1% NaP solution for 10 minutes. The enamel surface of each specimen were decalcified with 30% $H_3PO_4$ for 2 minutes and the findings through electron microscope were as follows; 1. The degree of decalcification on the 1st group was greater than that of the 2nd group. 2. Roughness of the 3rd group was slightly higher than that of the 4th group. 3. Under the same procedure of decalcification, the specimen treated by higher conceutration of NaF solution for same length of time showed less decalcified picture. 4. Under the same procedure, of decalcification, the specimens treated by same concentration of NaF solution for different length of time, were compared and found longer the time less decalcified.

  • 본 연구는 영재를 위한 교육 자료 개발을 위해 다이어볼릭 큐브의 특징에 대해 탐구하고, 영재들에게 제공할 수 있는 문제 상황에 따른 다이어볼릭 큐브 활용의 구체적인 예를 제시하였다. 다이어볼릭 큐브는 모든 조각이 평편한 조각으로 구성되어 있어 평면구성 활동과 입체구성 활동이 모두 가능하다. 조각의 선택에서는 사용가능한 조각들의 조합을 모두 찾은 후 포함-배제 방법을 사용하여 시행착오를 줄이는 분석적인 접근으로, 1개 이상의 답이 있는 문제에서 모든 답을 찾을 수 있고, 가장 많은 답을 갖는 모양 찾기와 개방형 문제를 해결할 수 있다. 본 연구에서 제시한 활동의 예를 이용하여 영재들에게 제공할 수 있는 학습 자료와 교사의 발문, 그리고 학생에게 제기할 수 있는 문제 등을 조직할 수 있고, 이를 바탕으로 학생들의 수준이나 요구 수업의 목표나 목적 등에 따라 단계적으로 계획을 수립하여 수업에 활용할 수 있다.

박물관 실내 대기오염물질에 의한 금속 부식 영향 (The metal corrosion caused by museum indoor air pollutants)

  • 본 연구에서는 박물관 내장재료, 유물포장시 사용되는 포장재료에서 나오는 실내대기오염물질로 챔버 테스트 및 오디 테스트를 실시하였다. 오디 테스트 결과 금속에 따라서 목재나 시멘트에 의해 부식되는 형태가 다르게 나타난다는 것을 알 수 있었으며, 금속의 부식에 가장 많은 영향을 미친 목질제품은 18T HS(E0)와 9mm합판(F0,E0)이었으며, 시멘트는 6개월이 지난 시멘트였다. 유해가스 챔버 테스트 결과 대부분의 시편에서 부식이 관찰되었으며, 특히 포름산, 아세트산, 아세트알데히드에서 철, 구리, 청동시편의 부식이 심각하게 진행되었다. 포장재의 폭로실험에서는 저습의 조건에서 표면적으로 큰 변화가 나타나지 않으나, 고습의 조건에서는 금속 시편이 변색되거나 부식되는 현상이 나타났다.

한국 현대 실내공간에서의 전통성 표현 경향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Expressive Tendency of Traditional in Korean Contemporary Interior Space)

  • With development of digital technology and build-up of global network in the 21st century, Korea has recklessly accepted Western information and culture in recent years, thus causing damages to out identity. In the situation, restoration and development of traditions in a modern way will contribute to the creation of contemporary interiors. This study has analyzed and assessed the process through which traditional decorative elements have applied to contemporary interior decorations over the past ten years with a view to identify the trend of expressing traditional elements in comtemporary interiors. Designs that have applied traditional elements in a transfigure expression method amounted to 77 pieces, accounting for $43\%$ of the total investigated 178 designs, which was followed by 48 designs ($27\%$) of metaphor expression method and 39 designs ($22\%$) of symbol expression method, which express the tradition as interpreted by the designer. Designs that have adopted direct expression method amounted to no more than 14 pieces, accounting only for $8\%$ of the total designs. This result suggests that transformative, metaphoric and symbolic expressions that simplify or transform the original forms we more frequently used In the applications of traditional elements to modern interiors rather than directive expression that reproduces the original form as it was.

  • 무제한 3차원 절단문제는 커다란 직육면체 자재에서 작은 직육면체 제품을 잘라낼 때, 잘라낸 제품의 가치가 최대가 되도록 하는 절단패턴을 찾는 문제이다. 이 때, 잘려지는 각각의 제품은 고유의 크기와 가치를 갖는다. 두 개의 절단패턴을 결합해서 새로운 절단패턴을 만들어 내는 상향식 접근법은 무제한 3차원 절단문제를 푸는 해법으로 사용할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는, Wang이 제안한, 2차원 문제에서 사용되는 두 가지 결합 외에 새로운 결합을 정의하고, 지 등이 무제한 2차원 절단 문제를 풀기 위해 제안한 분지전략을 3차원 문제에서 사용할 수 있도록 새롭게 재구성한다.

용접부 비파괴 검사의 신뢰성 비교: 화력 발전소의 보일러 수냉벽 배관 사례연구 (Comparative Reliability of Nondestructive Testing for Weld: Water Wall Tube in Thermal Power Plant Boiler Case Study)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this research is to find which technique, between the PAUT (Phased array ultrasonic test) that has been used widely in practice and RT (Radiographic test) that was used widely in the past, has the higher reliability as a non-destructive testing of welding points in water wall tubes. Methods: To evaluated the reliability of non-destructive testing, eleven test pieces that were fabricated intentionally, which have the most frequently occurred defect types in water wall tubes and then both the PAUT and RT were performed on those eleven test pieces to compare their reliability. Results: The differences of type of defect, length are occurred due to the characteristics of nondestructive testing. The RT could not detect the lack of fusion defect type in specimen #4 and #8 while PAUT could not detect the lateral crack and 1 mm size small porosity in specimen #11. Conclusion: It is concluded that applying both the RT and PAUT result the best reliability rather than applying only one test method, if it is possible, in nondestructive testing of weld water wall tube in thermal power plant boiler case.
