  • Picture archiving and communications systems(PACS) for digital image distribution, archiving and transmission, represent the modern hospital. PACS is the medical image management system within a hospital, whereas teleradiology system is the medical image communication system between remote sites. PACS and teleradiology systems usually consists of mainly four parts such as image acquisition part, image storage and database part, Image communication network part, and image display workstation part. Among these components comprised In the PACS, workstations are the point of contact between a PACS and the radiologist or referring physician. Therefore, the acceptance of PACS is highly dependent on workstation functionality, performance and easy of use compared with the conventional film-based radiology. This paper describes overall configurations and some requirements of PACS and teleradiology.

  • In this paper, have necessity of PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) at hospital but hereafter by economical problem PACS apply this to medical treatment image enhancing image quality applying histogram equalization for improvement of light and darkness after reconstruct because make image that pretreatment filtering has wild picture and is processed in wave lets dissolution and wave lets area using weight median filter because could not buy expensive equipment at hospital which introduction is difficulty do inversion and extracted characteristic.

  • Currently, an implementation plan of administrative information dataset record management has been prepared; however, analyzing the specificity of various administrative information systems and preparing a reasonable level of management reference table by applying about 1.3% (EA portal registration system: 16,199, consulting system: 214) has its limitations. This study started by recognizing the importance of the records management environment in administrative information datasets. Based on the described information, the current records management environment was analyzed by dividing the six areas of the management reference table of the picture archiving and communication system (PACS) into three groups. Thus, a systematic environmental improvement model was proposed, enhancing the effectiveness of dataset records management in the field. Although there is a limitation in analyzing one of the dataset records management environments of various institutions, it is intended to help broaden the horizons of records management research.

Status and Improvement of Curriculum in University for Picture Archiving and Communication System (의료영상저장전송시스템에 대한 대학교육과정의 현황과 개선방향)

  • The purpose of the study was to present basic data of curriculum of PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) and to propose improved directions. To research clinical PACS education needs, radiological technologist who related on PACS was surveyed in 12 (55%) of capital area, 6 (27%) of middle area and 4 (18%) of southern area of Korea and for the medical institutes, 8 (36%) of over 1000 beds, 10 (45%) of 500 to 1000 beds and 4 (19%) of less 500 beds. And, to research the status of university education the survey was conducted in 6 of capital area, 6 of middle area and 6 of southern area. As a result, 95.5% of respondents in radiological technologist group thought that giving precede education for PACS and enlarging state-exam would be necessary. In university group, 78% of respondents answered that PACS was equipped and, 82% of them answered that it is very important to study PACS as major. Many universities, however, did not standardize major title and contents so a study about them needs to be followed up.

  • As for information system in hospital which digital hospital aims at, there are PACS(Picture Archiving and Communication System) and soon. PACS transfer and store various medical pictures which are occurring in hospital. The various medical pictures is captured by using keyboard or foot switch during a surgical operation. In this paper, foot switch USB module that can be mounted into a main foot switch case is designed and implemented, it is having a MCU circuit with a built-in micro-controller and a I/O interface having a maximum of five switch. we also developed foot switch control software program with various functions. The result of using the module in the hospital field confirms that the module operates safely.

  • PACS(Picture archiving communication system) is a system that enables medical images such as X -ray, CT, MRI, PET to be stored electronically viewed on computer screens so that doctors and other authorized people can access search the information as needed. But if they are not in hospital area for example on holiday or at night, that are not able to access the PACS system instantly. We have to solve this problem for more efficient patient care. So we try to suggest a method that use the PDA system that wireless LAN and CDMA cellular phone are equipped. This system may help to access easier to PACS system regardless of the location and can also attribute the development of telemedicne.

  • The objective of this paper is to develop mobile-based PACS(Picture Archiving Communication System: mPACS) for diagnostic medical image service available via Android-based mobile smartphone. The proposed mPACS provides an integrated platform for mobile application of diagnostic medical images stored in hospital PACS, and allows the smartphone to store, retrieve, manipulate and transfer the diagnostic medical images. Then, the mPACS platform includes the following features for use in the Android framework (i. e., diagnostic medical image processing) : transfer protocols between PACS, mPACS and smartphone, image format converter, JPEG and JPEG2000 coders, text and avatar search, and etc. This mPACS is shown to be useful and effective in providing a solution for mobile-based diagnostic medical image service.

  • PACS(Picture Archiving Communication System)를 바탕으로 하는 DICOM(Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine)은 주요 의료영상장비들 사이에 데이터와 영상을 효율적으로 교환하고 전송할 수 있도록 마련한 표준안으로 현재 대부분의 최신형 의료영상장비(CT, MR, DSA, CR(Computed Radiology), 초음파검사, 핵의학검사, 내시경검사, 조직병리검사, 등)들은 의료 영상 분야의 국제 표준인 DICOM 표준방식에 의해 영상을 제공하고 있다. 최근 이러한 의료영상장비들은 독립적으로 사용하기보다는 의료수술 모니터링 장비 등의 비 의학영상장비와 서로 연계하여 사용하는 경우가 많아졌다. 그러나 이러한 의료수술 모니터링 장비들은 DICOM 표준 데이터를 고려하지 못하므로 PACS를 통한 데이터 연계에 어려움이 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 표준 DICOM 포맷과 의료수술 모니터링 장비의 데이터 구조를 분석하여 non-DICOM 의료수술 모니터링 장비의 PACS 연동을 위한 방안을 제안하였다.

  • This thesis describes the effective interfacing methods of PACS Modality based on the system installation and operating experiences. PACS(Picture Archiving and Communication Systems) is a system for medical image archiving and communication using large storage device and high-speed network. The standard communication protocol of PACS is DICOM(Digital Imaging and Communication in Medicine) based on TCP/IP and point-to-point protocol. However, there are many Non-DICOM Modalities and DICOM Modalities having problems. First, we had interfaced almost modalities, Fuji CR, GE CT, MRI, Angio, Fluoro, Phillips Angio, Shimadzu Fluoro, Ultrasound PACS, with the main PACS in the Seoul S Hospital as large scale hospital. And we manipulated the intelligent image distribution and the CT, MRI Interfaces never experienced before in the Anyang J Hospital and the Chungju C Hospital as mid or small scale hospital. Technically, we developed both the DICOM Interface and the Non-DICOM Interface. At the last, the DICOM Worklist and the DICOM Print Interface were implemented in the Seoul B Hospital, the Bucheon SJ Hospital and the Seoul K Hospital independently with PACS. The Oracle, Sybase and MS-SQL are used as database, and UNIX, Macintosh, MS Windows as operating systems. And the Visual C++ and UNIX C are the main programming tools. We have used UTP, coaxial and fiber optic Gable under 10/100 mbps LAN for networking.
