  • For Binary CDMA network, communication can be accomplished only within a Pico-net on the boundary of management by the master station because it manages network resources of each entity. In this research, we try to overcome these limits and extend the application for Binary CDMA system to broad-band network. We suggest a new Binary CDMA router such that network is devised by cell unit and multiple Pico-net and a unique address is assigned to each Pico-cell to relaying data between Pico-cells.

  • PicoCast is a recently proposed short-range wireless communications technology that supports both low rate sensor/control data and high speed data such as voice and video traffic in the personal space, defined by the user-centric space of radius tens of meters, with one unified protocol. When the users are in the same area, personal spaces defined by each user may overlap. Since these PicoCast piconets may simultaneously operate, mutual interference is unavoidable. It is necessary to investigate the effect of mutual interference on data transmission and to conduct research on minimizing the interference among PicoCast devices. In this paper we analyze the effect of mutual interference between PicoCast piconets based on data throughput using OPNET network simulator. We have implemented the PicoCast protocol and measured the average throughput and packet loss rate.

  • A pico-projector is a compact and mobile projector that has an infinite focus. We apply the pico-projector to a projection-type integral imaging system, which can expand the image depth to form multiple central depth planes. In a projection-type integral imaging system, the image flipping problem arises because the expanded elemental images pass through a lens array. To solve this problem, we propose the ray tracing of a pico-projector at a central depth plane and compensate the elemental image using a pixel-mapping process. Experiments to verify the proposed method are performed, and the results are presented.

  • Advances in mobile communications, portable computing and personal electronics have led consumers to demand large viewing area, bright, high resolution, compact and long life portable displays. Pico projectors are the latest technology to prove that big things often do come in small packages. Our goal in this paper was to implement a portable, low power, and highly adaptable miniature pico projector system. The pico projector is designed many functions of the pico projector solutions, multimedia, and T-DMB broadcasting.

  • In this paper, we analyze the effect of mobility management method to the data rate of moving users when pico-cell which uses the same frequency bandwidth as that of macro-cell is overlaid over macro-cell. From this analysis, we show that the data rate which is available to the moving user depends on the method of mobility management and relative location of the overlaid pico-cell over macro-cell in the network.

  • This paper is experimental study to inspect effects of problem solving ability and programming interest using Pico Cricket of the educational robot. The programming learning which is regarded as the very core of information subject improves problem solving ability. But the programming teaming does not display the effects properly, because the programming learning studies a grammar manual. The educational robot has the advantage to approach the programming learning easily for containing entertainment. The Pico Cricket of the educational robot has the advantage not to induce competition but to compose a cooperative learning environment. Also, the Pico Cricket is able to be had interest of programming learning to girl students, because the Pico Cricket is able to suggest life-centered and cooperative contents which girl students like. Accordingly, This paper is study which the programming learning using Pico Cricket affects the problem solving ability and programming interest and men and women's comparison study.

  • Cell-ID based positioning solution is cheaper and easier to implement than other wireless positioning solutions. However, its accuracy is relatively low. So we propose a novel approach to improve its accuracy. Our approach uses the probability that an MS will connect to each of BSs among several BSs to which an MS can access in a pico-cell network, and Cell-ID based positioning method is applied. The simulation result shows that performance of the proposed approach is improved compared to the other positioning solutions.

  • Low-k wafer engraving process has been investigated by using UV pico-second laser with high repetition rate. Wavelength and repetition rate of laser used in this study are 355nm and 80MHz, respectively. Main parameters of low-k wafer engraving processes are laser power, work speed, assist gas flow rate, and protective coating to eliminate debris. Results show that engraving qualities of low-k layer by using UV pico-second pulse width and high repetition rate had better kerf edge and higher work speed, compared to one by conventional laser with nano-second pulse width and low repetition rate in the range of kHz. Assist gas and protective coating to eliminate debris gave effects on the quality of engraving edge. Total engraving width and depth are obtained less than $20{\mu}m$ and $10{\mu}m$ at more than 500mm/sec work speed, respectively. We believe that engraving method by using UV pico-second laser with high repetition rate is useful one to give high work speed of laser material process.

  • In the presence of a high power cellular network, picocells are added to a Macro-cell layout aiming to enhance total system throughput from cell-splitting. While because of the different transmission power between macrocell and picocell, and co-channel interference challenges between the existing macrocell and the new low power node-picocell, these problems result in no substantive improvement to total system effective throughput. Some works have investigated on these problems. Pico Cell Range Expansion (CRE) technique tries to employ some methods (such as adding a bias for Pico cell RSRP) to drive to offload some UEs to camp on picocells. In this work, we propose two solution schemes (including cell selection method, channel allocation and serving process) and combine new adaptive frequency partitioning reuse scheme to improve the total system throughput. In the simulation, we evaluate the performances of heterogeneous networks for downlink transmission in terms of channel utilization per cell (pico and macro), call blocking probability, outage probability and effective throughput. The simulation results show that the call blocking probability and outage probability are reduced remarkably and the throughput is increased effectively.
