The cells that make up the body continuously undergo cell division to maintain life, but stress and carcinogens, and physiological stimuli suppress immunological functions in the body and change cells to cancerous cells. The only way to overcome cancer is by treatment through early detection and proper diagnosis. However, because early stage of cancer shows subjective symptoms that are similar to those of other common illnesses, even doctors have difficulty separating cancer from common illnesses in its early stage. However, the Ki(bioenergy) present in our body recognizes and changes to the most minute changes in the body. This method of detecting the change in bioenergy to discover a disease in the early stage to raise treatment success is called the OBET: O-Ring, Bioenergy Test. This method, which is based on the theories of oriental medicine, focuses on tumors, especially malignant tumors, and has shown value in diagnosis and treatment, as witnessed in the clinical applications. The diagnosis method and cases of OBET: O-Ring, Bioenergy Test are presented.
N1 and N2 gross neural action potentials were measured from the round window of the guinea pig cochlea at the onset of the acoustic stimuli. N1-N2 audiograms were made by means of regulating stimulant intensities in order to produce constant N1-N2 potentials as criteria for different input tone pip frequencies. The lowest threshold was measured with an input tone pip I5 dB SPL in intensity and 12 KHz in frequency when the animal was in normal physiological condition. The procedure of experimental measurements is explained in detail. This experimental approach is very useful for the investigation of the Cochlear function. Both noN1inear and active functions of the Cochlea can be monitored by N1-N2 audiograms.
Most living organisms synchronize their physiological and behavioral activities with the daily changes in the environment using intrinsic time-keeping systems called circadian clocks. In mammals, the key molecular features of the internal clock are transcription- and translational-based negative feedback loops, in which clock-specific transcription factors activate the periodic expression of their own repressors, thereby generating the circadian rhythms. CLOCK and BMAL1, the basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH)/PAS transcription factors, constitute the positive limb of the molecular clock oscillator. Recent investigations have shown that various levels of posttranslational regulation work in concert with CLOCK/BMAL1 in mediating circadian and cellular stimuli to control and reset the circadian rhythmicity. Here we review how the CLOCK and BMAL1 activities are regulated by intracellular distribution, posttranslational modification, and the recruitment of various epigenetic regulators in response to circadian and cellular signaling pathways.

Virtual Reality(VR) is a new technology which makes humans communicate with computer. It allows the user to see, hear, feel and interact in a three-dimensional virtual world created graphically. In this paper, we introduced VR into psychotherapy area and developed VR system for the exposure therapy of acrophobia. Acrophobia is an abnormal fear of heights. Medications or cognitive-behavior methods have been mainly used as a treatment. Lately the virtual reality technology has been applied to that kind of anxiety disorders. A virtual environment provides patient with stimuli which arouses phobia, and exposing to that environment makes him having ability to over come the fear. In this study, the elevator stimulator that composed with a position sensor, head mount display, and audio system, is suggested. To illustrate the physiological difference between a person who has a feel of phobia and without phobia, heart rate was measured during experiment. And also measured a person's HR after the virtual reality training. In this study, we demonstrated the subjective effectiveness of virtual reality psychotherapy through the clinical experiment.
This paper first presents the author's personal view on the importance of modeling in scientific research in general, and then describes two of his works toward modeling certain aspects of human speech communication. The first work is concerned with the physiological and physical mechanisms of controlling the voice fundamental frequency of speech, which is an important parameter for expressing information on tone, accent, and intonation. The second work is concerned with the cognitive processes involved in a discrimination test of speech stimuli, which gives rise to the phenomenon of so-called categorical perception. They are meant to illustrate the power of models based on deep understanding and precise formulation of the functions of the mechanisms/processes that underlie observed phenomena. Finally, it also presents the author's view on some models that are yet to be developed.

Plants are inherited spatial and temporal coordination systems in their growth and differentiation processes which are precisely governed by the two interlocked control systems; autogenous and environmental. Looking into the overall course of plant development from molecular to organismal level, it can be comparable to a concerto for plant hormones, environmental stimuli and plant genomic orchestra conducted by an unidentified virtuoso. Some of the recent significant attempts to puzzle out the mystery of the life processes of plant development are briefly reviewed. The revolutionary advances in understanding the mystic processes are contemporarily achieved by the application of various molecular techniques. The characterization of plant genomes is now attained through recombinant DNA approaches, and the sensitive detection of specific gene products during the plant development is perimitted by the immunochemical procedures. However, along with the recognition of underlying molecular events such as developmental changes in gene expression and hormone-receptor interrelation associated with tissue sensitivity to hormones, more emphasis should be placed upon the physiological approaches of organismal level for the understanding the correlative systems of the developmental processes of plants as intact eukaryotic organisms.
This study evaluated the hypothesis that motoneuron collaterals modulate the excitability of ventral spinocerebellar tract neurons. In acute cats, 128 ventral cerebellar tract cells were studied extracellularly to determine the effects of ventral root stimuli. The majority of the cells responded to ventral root stimulation with either short or long latency increases in spike discharge. In many cells with sufficient spontaneous activity ventral root stimulation also evoked a long lasting reduction in activity. In preparations with the dorsal root ganglion removed VSCT neurons had similar response properties. In some cells contralateral ventral root stimulation also evoked excitatory responses. These findings indicate the VSCT can provide the cerebellum with information regarding activity in the final output neurons of the motor system, the alpha motoneurons.

Effects of insulation after exposure of the extremities on the temperature regulation in clothed men were studied. Experiment was carried out with six males in a climatic chamber fixed at $10^{\circ}C$, $55\%$ R.H. treated with Type A (face only was exposed) and Type B (face and half of the extremities were exposed). Mean skin temperature fell greater in Type B due to intense vasoconstriction than in Type A. Rectal temperature rose a little in Type B and resumed in Type A without any significant differences in metabolism between two types of clothing. These findings suggest that Type B is more effective in physiological defense to the cold stimuli than Type A at least at $10^{\circ}C$.
