  • Bifunctional silane (TESPD) is added into silica filled SBR compound and its effects with respect to the vulcanization properties, the processability, and the physical properties are investigated. The addition of the TESPD into silica filled SBR compound increases the degree of crosslinking by formation of a strong 3-dimensional network structure with silica surface via coupling reaction, which results in an improved mechanical property. It also improves the processabilities compared to the Control compound.

  • Electro-pneumatic valves are an electro-mechanical device which convert electric signal into pneumatic flow rate or pressure signal. Recently, the development tendency of electro-pneumatic valve is to make the valve with more compact and less electric power consumption style. To make the valve such as a style, the role of solenoid part is very important. This paper is used in the finite-element method for the purpose of evaluating the magnetic property of solenoid and analyze flux distribution of solenoid theoretically. From flux contour line which is obtained by numerical analysis, it verified that the plunger shape and physical property of solenoid part have influence on saturation phenomenon and leakage of magnetic fluxs. This paper made an experiment on the measurement of dynamic response time and force in order to confirm the propety of analytic result, and confirmed a good agreement between analysis results and experiment results.

  • Aiming to elucidate the formation processes of Myeonsan wetland around the ridge from Myeonsan peak to Seokgae pass, this paper analyzes the geomorphic, physical and chemical characteristics of the wetland. The results are as follow: Firstly, resistant bedrock and big boulders distributed on the riverbed of the small channel from the wetland to Seokgaecheon have played a role as a temporary base level. At the upstream part above this point, a wide and shallow depression was formed and developed into a wetland. There was a gorge covered with boulders at downstream part. Secondly, owing to the obstacles at the outlet of wetland, deposits on bed tend to be downstream coarsening. Finally, deposits show weak acidity of pH 5.0~5.7. The source of wetland water is groundwater containing rich Ca and Na. Trees in the wetland help much more Ca accumulated. And deposit biotite and amphibole contained rich Mg have been weathered in the wetland.

  • In the latter part of the $20^{th}$ century, the road in American culture has been identified with independence, mobility, and speed, but in his seminal poem, "Song of the Open Road," Walt Whitman characterized road journeys as simultaneously physical, intellectual, and spiritual, a view embraced by Vincent Van Gogh whose Terrace of a Caf? at Night illustrates in paint what Whitman said in words. Others such as Jack Kerouac in On the Road followed in Whitman's tradition, one taken up even more recently by David Lynch, whose films are best known for a condemnation of American suburban life, but whose Straight Story evokes a profound spirituality as part of the road. This essay explores spirituality in these various texts.

  • In this study, physical properties of Elk antler was investigated to develop the optimum drying and packaging methods for improving the antler quality as well as deal with diversify of demand. After the antler was sliced with 5 mm thickness, and the compressive, shear, and tensile stresses were measured at the center and velvet parts of pre-dried and dried antlers after the contained water rate of the dried antlers was maintained below 10%. The results are as follows. 1. Considering the center of pre-dried antlers, the compressive stresses were $60.73\;g/mm^2$, $145.65\;g/mm^2$, and $260.97\;g/mm^2$, respectively at the upper, middle, and lower parts while $70.67\;g/mm^2$, $811.90\;g/mm^2$, $3,235.52\;g/mm^2$, respectively for velvet layer. Considering the center of dried antlers, the compressive stresses were $190.43\;g/mm^2$, $445.81\;g/mm^2$, and $705.86\;g/mm^2$, respectively at the upper, middle, and lower parts while $734.01\;g/mm^2$, $1,238.40\;g/mm^2$, $4,134.03\;g/mm^2$, respectively for velvet layer. 2. For the pre-dried, the shear stresses were $50.24\;g/mm^2$, $294.44\;g/mm^2$, and $423.47\;g/mm^2$, respectively, and $124.14\;g/mm^2$, $367.69\;g/mm^2$, and $425.86\;g/mm^2$, respectively for the dried antlers. 3. The tensile stresses were $13.59\;g/mm^2$, $62.85\;g/mm^2$, and $112.07\;g/mm^2$, respectively for the pre-dried and $77.24\;g/mm^2$, $175.87\;g/mm^2$, and $184.06\;g/mm^2$, respectively for the dried antlers. 4. In the case of drying antlers, the physical characteristics of the antlers was. changed such as moisture evaporation, contraction, and surface hardening. For the center part, the changes of the physical characteristics were more significant at the lower part while at the upper part for the velvet layer. 5. The stress changes of Elk antlers was shown very remarkably according to growth point. Moreover, the stress was clearly higher at velvet layer part to the center part, base parts compared to the upper parts.

  • This study was performed to assess the practice behavior and the need for cancer screening in order to design the community projects in Suwon city. A random sample of urban married women was surveyed on knowledge, attitude, and practice of breast and cervical cancer screening by telephone from April 28th to May 19th. Four hundred two married women completed the questionnaire, and the results were as follows: 1. Urban women were not generally knowledgeable about symptoms, signs and etiology of breast and cervical cancer. Only 11.4% of respondents were fully aware of those subjects. 2. Two hundred eighty six repondents(71.1%) reported having had a mammogram or Pap smear, while 116 respondents(28.9%) reported never having had a mammogram nor Pap smear. 3. The rate of mammogram increased by age and income status significantly(p〈0.05). 4. The majority(73.1%) of women who had a mammogram reported that it was part of a routine physical examination and another 24.3% of the women reported that they had a mammogram for specific breast problems. Meanwhile, the reasons reported for never having a mammogram were as follows; never had any problems (72.1%), no chance(11.2%), no time(4.3%). 5. The main factors associated with adherence to mammography screening guidelines was monthly income status. 6. The majority(80.6%) of women who had a Pap smear reported that it was part of a routine physical examination and another 16.0% of the women reported that it was part of a routine physical examination and another 16.0% of the women reported that they had a Pap smear for specific uterus problems. Meanwhile, the reasons reported for never having a Pap smear were: never had any problems(69.0%) and no chance(11.5%) 7. Women with higher income status were most likely to have a Pap smear regularly (p〈0.01), and the rate of Pap smear increased by education level significantly(p〈0.05). The main factors associated with adherence to Pap smear screening guidelines were education level and monthly income status, similar to those of mammograph. These findings indicate that married women in Suwon city show a lower rate of breast and cervical cancer screening practice than that of developed countries. The rate of mammograph was especially low. It is, therefore, suggested that cost, environmental factors, process, and information for screening tests be considered more programmatically before designing a community project for breast and cervical cancer screening.

  • This study examined those problems noticed under the Asymptotically Generalized Least Squares estimator in evaluating a structural model of physical health. The problems were highly correlated parameter estimates and high standard errors of some parameter estimates. Separate analyses of the endogenous part of the model and of the metric of a latent factor revealed a highly skewed and kurtotic measurement indicator as the focal point of the manifested problems. Since the sample sizes are far below that needed to produce adequate AGLS estimates in the given modeling conditions, the adequacy of the Maximum Likelihood estimator is further examined with the robust statistics and the bootstrap method. These methods demonstrated that the ML methods were unbiased and statistical decisions based upon the ML standard errors remained almost the same. Suggestions are made for future studies adopting structural equation modeling technique in terms of selecting of a reference indicator and adopting those statistics corrected for nonormality.

  • The physical properties of NR-SBR and NR-BR blends were studied. 1. In blending, tensile strength decreased with increase in synthetic rubber contents. It was most effective when the ratio of NR/Syn. R is 75/25. 2. Tensile strength decreased with order of NR, SBR and BR and modulus after aging is proportional of synthetic rubber contents. 3. Elongation is less influenced by synthetic rubber ratio that on the other hand, the decrease of elongation is proportional to synthetic rubber contents after aging. 4. Hardness decreased with increase in the synthetic rubber contents and on the other hand, the hardness increased after aging.
